Minneapolis shooting: AG Pam Bondi gives Gov. Walz conditions for ICE to leave Minnesota
In Bondi’s letter to Gov. Walz, Bondi put forth a path for ICE and other federal agents to leave Minnesota. That’s something local and state leaders have been pleading for several weeks.
Here is that path:
Walz’s office must share state records on Medicaid and Food and Nutrition Service programs, including SNAP, with the federal government.
Repeal sanctuary policies that have led to crime in Minnesota. All state corrections facilities must cooperate with ICE, honor immigration detainers and permit ICE to interview detainees in custody to determine immigration status.
Allow the Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division to access Minnesota’s voter rolls to confirm the state’s voter registration policies comply with federal law.
Lily, please, why is every big, muscley monster completely hairless?
Do you hate fun and good things?
So I’m in the middle of reading the Monstrous series by Lily Mayne and so far it’s been an interesting experience.
I’m at the start of book 3, Ryche, and I have enjoyed how much this series strays from the standard mm romance formula while still having that flavor of sweet, absurdity that comes with falling unrealistically in love with someone in a week.
So far I’ve found the monsters in the pairings Incredibly safe, not too far from human. And the funny thing is I find myself wishing they were stranger, more monstrous, because I want the story to try and convince me that something very inhuman can be attractive and loveable. A lot of this series requires just letting go of illogical things and not letting tropes and paper thin concepts to bother you. This isn’t new to romance in general, but here it’s with huge organizations like the military and with an entire expanded world.
Why do the monsters all know english? Why do they share or understand some human concepts while not others? It’s a funny thing for a deathly shadow creature, or a giant purple oger dirty talk about their big cocks while also having no concept of kissing.
Most of the world this takes place in is a literal sandbox. The plots, so far, are 70 percent walking across a literal wasteland of the Americas. The author will drop in bits of lore about monsters when necessary, but we never go too deep into anything and no one ever bothers to ask more than they need to.
And that’s because it’s not the point of the story, but I keep thinking about how if this was me writing this I would have been caught up in trying to build a structured lore so that this all makes sense, even if it never becomes relevant to the story that gets published. I would get stuck on everything needing to make sense.
I will keep reading. I honestly wish this whole thing was about Danny and Wyn because they’re my favorite so far.
There’s also the bareist hint of the fated mates trope happening here without anyone outright saying it and only being observable via the glimpses we get from the monsters’ perspectives. And. I love that, because that trope often feels cheap to me, even though sometimes I love it.

so i read Monstrous by MarcyKate Connolly yeeeeaaars ago and looooved it, and then recently i read both of Steven Banbury’s Pumpkin Princess books and i have decided that the main girls (Kym- Monstrous, Eve- Pumpkin Princess) should be friends, or even sisters, so i drew them
mostly i drew a lot of Kym since i actually reread Monstrous a few days ago and yah i forgot how much i love her
i love my girls <3

(my Kym doesn’t match the cover because she wears a light green dress at one point in the book)
