Are we memeing our way into apathy?

I had a thought recently that I can’t quite shake off. There’s this general consensus that memes are a great tool for dealing with dark times or exposing bad behavior through humor.

But sometimes, I genuinely feel like memes do the exact opposite. When we take something that is objectively wrong and turn it into a meme, we unintentionally diminish its severity. Instead of taking a firm moral stance against it, we just laugh and move on. It feels like we are meme-ing our way into apathy.

Has anyone else noticed this? At what point does mocking a serious issue just turn into quietly accepting it?

Mocking. That’s what I want to do when I rip out the jugular.

The famous comedian Woody Allen once said, “If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans.” Well, that’s one way for sure! But if you think about it, there are two kinds of laughter.

The one we mostly know is the laughter of hearing a funny joke (like today’s cartoon) or having a good time with friends. In fact the Bible even says that this type of laughter is good for our body and soul (Proverbs 17:22) But even flipping this cartoon around a bit, there is the laughter AT someone or something for the failure of their ways, and this is what today’s scripture verse is saying to those that are contrary to God.

God, to put it bluntly, doesn’t look down well on evil people, ways or attitudes towards Him. Many that are hyper-critical of the “god” of the Bible are fond of pointing out how cruel, angry and even sadistic God is as shown in many Old Testament accounts as proof that such a “god” cannot be worthy of any kind of respect - let alone worship. However to understand the background of these stories of wrath it is vital to know WHY these events occurred.

In a very, VERY concise nutshell the people that God ordered killed were heinous groups of wicked people that were followers and worshippers of numerous false gods. Even more importantly they were haters and rebels against the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and sought to blaspheme God and destroy his people. Be that as it may, whoever or wherever people are that spit in the face of god (if he/she/it even exists…) have a day that is coming where instead of them laughing at “god”, GOD WILL BE LAUGHING AT THEM. The scripture makes this clear here in the Epistles:

“Do not deceive yourselves; no one makes a fool of God.
You will reap exactly what you plant.”
Galatians 6:7

My friends, this is perhaps one of the sternest message I have ever written on Your Daily Notes but it is the TRUTH. Of course you have the right and freedom to believe or think anything you want about the Bible, Christ, Sin, and God. To you, all this might be just a bunch of Nonsense, but consider this…and what if you are wrong?

God is not a cruel, sadistic God, but he is a God of Justice but even much more, God is the God of LOVE. He takes much more pleasure of laughing WITH you in LOVE then the horror of laughing AT you in JUDGEMENT.

Which way would you prefer to hear that laughter?

I struggle very deeply to understand how someone ends up conservative. I don’t understand the obsession with advocating for restrictive socially constructed traditions other than in instances where not following them would be measurably harmful. Why is “the nuclear family” so important that you feel it’s what all families should be like? Why do you feel like the nebulous “left” is trying to destroy it even though no one is trying to outlaw a man and a woman getting married and raising a child? What makes it bad for a man to enjoy wearing dresses? That especially just strikes me as utterly ridiculous. How is it even possible to believe that certain clothing should only be worn by men or women? There’s nothing scientific about that at all. Can you give me any sort of scientific evidence for a man wearing a dress being a bad thing or a family being something other than a married man and woman with a child being a bad thing? What makes it bad? The “fact” that a great all-knowing invisible entity in the sky told you it’s bad? Something else?

That kind of statement echoes the attitude described in Psalm 73:9–11:

“They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth… And they say, ‘How does God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?’”

This isn’t the sorrowful confession of a man seeking grace.

It’s a boast wrapped in sarcasm.

🚫 No Fear of God

The biblical pattern is clear:

When Isaiah realized his sin, he cried out: “Woe is me!” (Isaiah 6:5)

When Peter saw Jesus’ holiness, he said: “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” (Luke 5:8)

But Trump? He shrugs and jokes about going to heaven like it’s an impossible business deal.

This kind of arrogance isn’t just mockery — it’s blasphemy.

Trump speaks of “getting into heaven” like it’s a political favor — a reward for deals or donations.

That is the spirit of Mammon.

He does not speak as one who fears the Lord. He speaks as one who uses religion to control others, not to be humbled by truth.

“You cannot serve God and Mammon.” (Matthew 6:24)

👑 Final Word

The true King wore thorns, not gold.

The true Savior died on a cross, not a stage.

And the true remnant sees through this mockery.
