I think about this randomly sometimes but the actual matchmaking part of the society in Matched would’ve been perfect if they gave more rights to aberrations. I forget the character’s names but the main character would’ve ended up with the aberration she loved if the society gave matching rights to aberrations. Anywho, that whole thing reminds me of the new dating app Boo lol. Using ai to match make may seem dystopian at first glance but I actually think it’s really cool lol

Just saw a list of recs for dystopian novels that don’t center around a love story and fucking Matched was on the list. Like, I only read the first book (years ago), but what the fuck are you talking about?? The entire premise of the book is about government determining your marriages and the MC rebelling against it bc she falls in love with someone else! “Not a love story-” Motherfucker, what fucking story do you think it is????

(He knows this is not normal. He knows being this helplessly devoted to a girl he met less than an hour ago defies logic, and cannot be the foundation of a real lasting relationship, and is the direct result of an increasingly-toxic chemical imbalance in his brain. He also does not care.)

Growing apart doesn’t change the fact that for a long time we grew side by side; our roots will always be tangled. I’m glad for that.

Of all the YA books that could be simplified by ending in an OT3 Cassia, Ky, and Xander are the actual OT3. Ky and Xander have the sacred bond none of the other boy pairs do.

They’re sooo good.

How Adidas Matched James Harden’s One Of A Kind Style

The best signature shoes personify the player. They’re an extension of the style and vibe that their namesake stands for.
According to James Harden, his Adidas signature series might be the best expression of that approach in the industry.
“Right when you see it, it’s like, ‘Oh wow, what’s that?’ And then you know: ‘That’s the Harden. That’s a Volume,‘” Harden proudly says. “We got our own style…

It seems I forgot more about the Matched trilogy than I realized.

Are these children willingly participating in biological warfare??

Rereading Matched in the earliest days of COVID lockdowns hit really hard–a story about a government making sweeping restrictions for the sake of public health suddenly felt very real.

Of course, that element didn’t hit nearly as hard this year. But there are other elements that hit harder in the era of artifical intelligence.

  • The Society is a purely consumerist culture, filled with people who no longer create, but just remix approved elements. In losing the ability to create, they lose a lot of their humanity–they lack the imagination to even want anything different.
  • In a world overwhelmed by media and screens and noise, the idea of limiting culture to only a few things almost seems understandable, until you think about the huge range of human knowledge and experience and expression that’s just gone.
  • The Society is obsessed with collecting data about people. People become nothing but numbers for the elite to analyze. Which is chillingly relatable to current online experience.
