Top 5 songs of February
Here we are again, time to rank the 5 songs that kept me sane in February.
1. Soft Spine by Spiritbox - Literally the line “You pick your teeth with sacred bones” gave me chills. The whole overarching message of the song and how perfectly executed the writing of the lyrics was. This definitely has to be on thia list.
2. Taniwha by Alien Weaponry - As a big fan of Alien Weaponry and Lamb Of God, the Randy Blythe feature was a pleasant surprise and really added a good layer to an already banger song.
3. The Seed That Dreamed Of It’s Own Creation by Lowen - WOW, this song came out of nowhere and immediately had me in a choke hold. The atmospheric, almost doom metal tone of it, along with an almost mystical feel, was all around pleasin.
4. Afraid of The Dark by Motionless in White - I’ve been into MIW since I was 13, and this song took me back to the moment I first heard Reincarnate. I feel like this is a great blend of their newer sound while also giving us snippets of their heavier side. The lyrics are powerful yet comforting.
5. Dead Skin Mask by Slayer - Yes, you caught me, I like drunk uncle metal. Also, a metal song about Ed Gein? My morbid fascination immediately took over. So, this rightfully had to be on the list because it combines two of my interests: classic metal and true crime.
