#Congratulations to all the Winning and Finalists Teams 🥳🎉

The 4th Annual Student Competition 𝟒𝐭𝐡 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, organized by the PMI Singapore Chapter at Republic Polytechnic (RP), brought together students from 10+ Institutes of Higher Learning to design, plan, and launch a retail shop in Singapore, applying core 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 project management principles in a real-world context.

I am honored to serve as a judge and impressed by the teams of aspiring 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐬 ability to:

☑️ Apply the correct project management tools purposefully 
☑️ Articulate trade-offs between scope, timeline, risk, and stakeholder expectations

Optical fiber sensor researchers from 𝘑𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘪 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 | 𝘏𝘶𝘢𝘻𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘨 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘚𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘛𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰𝘭𝘰𝘨𝘺 | 𝘟𝘪𝘢𝘮𝘦𝘯 𝘜𝘯𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘔𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘢 have proposed an image processing method, Non-local mean (NLM), to enhance the phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer (𝜑-OTDR). 🌐🔬 This special reader device uses high performance laser and components to measure and locate changes or disturbances along optical fibers. Their research sheds light on optimising NLM parameters to balance signal quality and spatial resolution in distributed optical fiber sensing (DFS) applications. Other applicable DFS systems include Brillouin OTDR and Rayleigh OTDR. 🌟
