bats best friend- chapter 10

He soon made the connection, there was a chance that Jay, the boy that had acted like a brother to him, could have been Jason, the brother he never got to meet.

Why? Did he not actually die? If so, why did he start living with assassins, especially after working with Batman? How had they not found that he was still alive?

Unpopular opinion:

I don’t think Murder is the crux of Red Hood and Batman beef

Red Hood at his worst should still be held responsible for his actions, but that doesn’t change the fact he’s a reactionary force.

To getting murdered. I don’t know about you but I think getting killed is a good enough reason to go a lot nuts.

So fandom has a weird sensitivity to the “ cautionary tale ” verbage. Obv Aditf is a crime collaboration between Joker and that one writer who apparently had it out for Jaybin.

Victim blaming sucks, but a cautionary tale is also a literary term. To describe a certain moral sentiment that should accompany a epic or sickening whump fic.

So what is the moral of aditf?

Going after your mystery Mom is a straight fast track to hell?

Children should behave?

Seriously Jaybin was a standup guy to the bitter end. Literally bitter because explosion makes everything burn to a crisp :’)

More importantly cautioning Who?

( Bruce should be careful about freeing children from being not in charge of themselves. )

No one asked, but I’m upset I just mischaracterized Jaybin (Jason’s Robin).

Michael Townsend would be similar to Timbin (Tim’s Robin) in the way they both are neglected rich kids who ended up doing detective work and have come concerningly close to death due to lack of care and/or self destructive behavior.

I said Jaybin at first bc personality type fits, as they are both drama queens and Jason’s also am avid Jane Austin reader. Performative twins

Because I have my big fat Jaybin has done nothing wrong ever glasses

I am capable of getting my whump jollies on from Cheer

Like the narrative intent be damned

Jaybin not being affected by that “ Poor kid dumb kid only good for evil shit ” way people look at him

Because a lot of normal people would take that as passive permission to be a terrible person

Also I find it pretty funny that Jaybin in his T shirt with watery eyes glaring with hate was so scary

A hardened dope dealer tripped over his own feet and tumbled down a flight of stairs

Baby duckling Jason having the gorgon stare is beautiful

Bruce being scared of Jaybin, the same way Batman has a long rhapsody about Joker’s eyes being full of love :)

i’m aware jason todd has mentioned this before, but murder is such a fancy word. like you have to organise some smart execution method or else its just a normal killing.

just like how an assassination is of an important person and killing is for your regular joe shmoe.

another jaybin centric fanfic for my indulgence..

a heavy balloon

— “Master Jason, I suppose a meal plan is in order”, Alfred had said. Jason had not known what it meant but now it seemed to matter. Nothing about a meal or a plan sounded good.

“Don’t sweat yourself Alfred, I’m fine the way I am”, was all he could land on but he could feel Bruce’s gaze on him a little too longer than he would like. He just knows his words probably are not going to mean anything. Jason might be twelve but he isn’t stupid, he’s grown enough to understand when things are just not going to go his way so he decides he will work through it.

————————————————————-

Or the one where it’s an exploration of Jason’s relationship with food and how everyone else around him responds to it.

Jason is definitely an ao3 writer and dies from the curse…. I bet his note was like “I’m back guys, sorry. I kind of died but I’m back!!!”
