A guitar riff so intense and fast it sounds like rushing into the unknown with no regard for personal safety. Hold on tight, keep hands and limbs inside the cart, this is full speed ahead. There is a message written for us on the sunlit wall which says the time has come. To finally find some shelter and feel safe at home inside of ourselves. I don’t know if that can be believed but there is definitely a change coming. A storm is coming right this way and it will sweep us away whether we want it to or not. And still the guitar races. The danger must be showing cause the rowers keep on rowing and show no sign of slowing.
There is a hideout, far from the open sea, where we keep the lights off at night to let the darkness in. Until the darkness sets us free. Just let it in and welcome that darkness. Let it be a part of you and make you whole again. But not tonight. Cause tonight I keep the lights on so the darkness will let me be. The lights are always on and they will never get switched off. I can see the storm coming and I keep the lights on to keep all the shadows away. If I could just keep the lights off, I would finally be able to see.
So I stand in the well lit room with my hand hovering over the light switch saying yes I know the darkness is needed. But for today, and every day before this one, I leave the fluorescent glow on to wipe away all shadows. I know I am in the hideout where none of this could ever hurt me. But I am still gonna stay firmly in the light and hold on desperately to that last vestige of control I feel I can hold. If I could lose all control and let the storm take me, I would finally be able to see.
