Heatwave 🌡
The weather’s suppose to be cooling down by now since March is the first month of Autumn (Southern Hemisphere) but it’s still so damn hot!

Last week I managed to be fairly active. I rode my bike 4 miles (6.4 km) 3 days, and did 2 miles (3.2 km) of walking 2 days.
Today could end up being an 8 mile (12.8 km) day. I went for a ride this morning before work. I was planning to ride again this evening after work, but we’re having a mid March heatwave and I just don’t feel like riding in the heat.
So, I’ll have to settle for 4 miles (6.4 km) today.

The afternoon sun burned high over Strangerville, turning the sky into a pale, endless blue. In their backyard, two sun loungers sat on the dry dirt, angled toward the light as if they were part of the desert themselves.
They lay there quietly, letting the heat sink into their bones. Somewhere in the distance, a dog barked once and then the town fell back into its usual eerie stillness.
She shifted slightly on her lounger and turned her head. Out of the corner of her eye she watched him — perfectly still, soaking up the sun like a lizard on a rock. A soft smile crept across her face.
Strangerville really is strange, she thought. But days like this almost made it feel normal.
She reached down beside her chair, picked up the bottle of sun lotion, and squeezed some into her palm. The coolness surprised her skin as she rubbed it along her arms and shoulders, the scent rising in the hot air.
For a moment she closed her eyes, listening to the quiet hum of the heatwave, the strange little town around them holding its breath in the afternoon sun. 🌵☀️

US forecasts blizzard, polar vortex, heat dome and atmospheric river all at once
Nearly every part of the United States is getting walloped by wild weather or just about to be.
Days of downpours have begun in Hawaii. The Southwest will soon bake with day after day of record 100-degree-plus (38 Celsius-plus) heat. Two storms will dump snow by the foot over northern Great Lakes states. And the dreaded polar vortex will again invade the Midwest and East with soul-crushing Arctic chill.
This forecast of extremes comes as weather whiplash has already hit much of the East. On Wednesday, Washington, D.C., residents walked around in shorts in record-breaking 86 degrees Fahrenheit (about 30 C). On Thursday, it snowed.
“All of the country, even if you’re not necessarily seeing extremes, are going to see generally changing from cold to warm, or warm to cold to warm,” said meteorologist Marc Chenard of the National Weather Service’s Weather Prediction Center in Maryland.
Former National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration chief scientist Ryan Maue said he expects extreme weather in all 50 states.

Got a headcold and stomach bug at the same time as this heatwave.
Doc gave meds along with a phone curfew so I could get more sleep. It worked…for 2 nights…then I had too much energy, got an illustration idea and worked on that instead of sleeping…but I was off my phone tho!

yeah… I need to leave Southern California one day. pretty sure I got sunburned in the 3 minutes it took for me to roll down my car window and order my lunch at the drive thru window 🥵😭

When she went to order…a big muscular woman with short red hair [was] behind the counter. The woman’s amber eyes intensely stared into her own, scaring her. It made her wary…Even so, she could care less about the piercings on the woman’s chin and left ear, especially since she imagined what they would like like on Aika.
Of course she’d imagine Aika with piercings, right? This is from my latest fic “The Veneer of Normality”.
