He left his ghosts with me
The shadows that play along my unwanted memories
Now i get haunted every day and night,
Suffocated at the thought of what ifs
And his ghosts sing along to my racing thoughts
Tuning to the palpitations and chasing me down the lane of the dark alleys in my mind

i haven’t shared any creepy finds in a while… it’s been a min

spain’s first and only officially documented case of paranormal phenomena recorded in a police report. i was genuinely surprised to learn that the netflix horror film verónica was inspired by these true events when i rewatched it today…

the netflix horror film verónica draws inspo from a rl paranormal case in spain (1991) known as the vallecas case. it involved a teenage girl, estefanía gutiérrez lázaro (rip). the movie isn’t a direct retelling of what happened irl ofc, buuut it was inspired by the story and the strange mystery surrounding estefanía’s death </3
apparently, estefanía and a few friends attempted to use a ouija board at school during a break. they were trying to contact the spirit of a friend’s deceased boyfriend… sighhhh. a teacher then interrupted them and broke the board, which ppl later said was when things allegedly started getting really strange
ALTfollowing the ouija board incident, shit turned messy. estefanía began suffering from seizures, hallucinations, and terrifying nightmares, seeing shadows and hearing voices. during some of these eps, she would attack her siblings for no apparent reason, only to lapse into a completely catatonic state afterward. doctors were unable to identify any clear medical cause for her condition. several months later, she suddenly passed away in the hospital under mysterious and unexplained circumstances :(
after estefanía passed, her fam reported all kinds of strange occurrences in their apartment! objects shifting on their own, doors slamming, eerie noises w no explanation. eventually the police were called and even filed a report noting things they couldn’t account for, which is a huge part of why the vallecas case became so infamous

2 yrs after estefanía’s death, a photo of her in the living room mysteriously caught fire, but only her face was scorched while the frame and everything around it stayed untouched o.O after that chilling incident, the fam decided it was time to move
according to an article, in 1992 police inspector josé pedro negri (who, to this day, still hasn’t forgotten what he witnessed in that apt) that day and several officers were called to the family’s apartment. when they arrived, the fam was reportedly standing outside, too terrified to step back inside (っ- ‸ - ς)

ALTonce the officers entered, they reportedly heard loud, unexplained noises echoing through the apartment. the report says cupboard doors slammed open on their own even though they were locked. a crucifix was found torn from the wall with scratch marks around it, and a strange brown slime had appeared on a bedside table. to top it off, the bathroom suddenly felt really cold (iykyk)
interestinglyyy, all of these occurrences were meticulously recorded in the official police report, which described them as unexplainable. notably, the officers never labeled anything as paranormal, instead opting for the term inexplicable
ALTyrs later, estefanía’s brothers stepped forward to set the record straight. in interviews, they suggested that the unsettling events in the household might have been psychological rather than supernatural, shaped in part by their mother’s firm conviction that smth paranormal was occurring. they claimed she even pressured them to exaggerate certain incidents. the brothers defended their sister, insisting she was never obsessed w the occult and had only experimented w a ouija board a handful of times w friends. they also raised the possibility that medical conditions, such as epilepsy, could explain her eps, since it ran in the fam, though no formal diagnosis was ever recorded for estefanía. beyond the mystery itself, the siblings endured social repercussions and bullying growin’ up, so was this merely to protect the family’s image? who knows
hmm… o.O imo questions still linger. if everything was purely psychological or medical, how do we explain that police officers reported witnessing unusual disturbances inside the apartment? josé pedro negri (who witnessed it himeself) documented these strange events in an official report. if you dig deep into the case, there are other details that keep the vallecas case teetering bt plausible explanation and lingering mystery. you decide
intriguing, eerie, and ultimately heartbreaking… ahh! whether you believe in this stuff or not, does one really want to tangle w the unseen? or was this poor young gal jst suffering from medical conditions? ( ꩜ ᯅ ꩜ )

unfortunately I’m the girl who stopped showing up to school one day and never came back.
Remembering the time I lived in a haunted parsonage for an entire summer in the Bible Belt and was absolutely terrified of that house.
For context, I have lived in many a haunted home with spirits and I myself am haunted by a spirit or two. HOWEVER. Even my roommate was terrified of this house.
We arrive at the house and are told to fetch the keys from the lock box on the “front door.” Mind you, there are seven fucking doors to get in and out of that house. The kitchen door, which did. not. budge. was apparently the “main front door.” Whatever, we struggle to get our keys out and move in. Immediately the vibes are off.
I lock myself in my room early because I’ve been spooked and don’t want to be caught outside a “safe zone.” My roommate stays up a little later than I do but overall things seem okay. In the morning I’m immediately unsettled again the moment I step into the hall. Every fibre of my being is telling me “Stare at your feet. Don’t look up. Use your hand to find the light switch.” I obey. Every single morning. Every single night. The dark just felt menacing.
That first weekend my roommate went to spend time with the other girls up in town an hour away. I wasn’t much of a party girl so I declined and stayed at the house. Holed up in my room because I didn’t trust the common areas. And I’m glad I didn’t because I could hear the footsteps in the hallway. I could see a shadow pacing in front of the door, but never crossing the threshold. I called my mom and had her overnight my anatomically incorrect skeleton rat to me because a friend had carved protection symbols into her.
Binx, as I lovingly named her, sat on the nightstand facing. the. door. I never moved her once. From the moment she arrived to the day I moved out. But she would move. She’d turn her head to stare at corners of the room while I was gone. And let me tell you, she is a SOLID skeleton. I can violently shake her and that head will. not. move. I was horrified to know my room was only safe when I was home, but grateful I had protection.
And then that fateful day…
My roommate and I worked the 5am to 2pm shift. We carpooled to work because it was 5 minutes from the house. It had been a very very long day for both of us. The door we used in and out of the house was the “garage door” in the pantry that connected to the dining room. We pull up to the house, let ourselves in, and go about our business to unwind. I’m in the dining room taking off my shoes, my roommate is in the kitchen filling up her water bottle. Suddenly, the kitchen door. The “main front door” that was so stuck neither of our dads could force open and hadn’t been unlocked since we’d arrived, swung open and slammed shut. Right. In. Front of us both.
We paused, stared at the door, stared at each other and quickly retired to our rooms for the rest of the night. It was 3pm. We both skipped dinner and showers because the bathrooms were separated from the bedrooms. I don’t remember sleeping much that night.
During the last week we were there my roommate caught me fumbling blindly for the light switch in the dark. She whispered that she did the same thing. We both left the house before saying anything more, too scared to speak in the dark.
I do not miss that house. I hated that house. As someone who IS haunted, that was a very menacing spirit and I did not appreciate being stuck in its proximity for 3 months.

Which Edition of D&D had the best design/artwork of a Ghost?
First Edition

Fifth Edition
I had a dream I was being haunted by the ghost of a little girl that got murdered, cause I watched some animator Youtuber talk about her case. Lesson learned, never watch true crime unless it’s a reputable documentary.
i swear i don’t know who lives upstairs between the deep inhuman growls and the chain smoking coughs that must rack their whole body in the evening and the blasting of k-pop demon hunters at 7am it sure doesn’t seem like it’s only one young couple and their loud ass toddlers i need to confirm if there is an unseen fifth human being or if the k-pop demon hunters is actually doing the lord’s work each morning and banishing the Night Ghoul until it’s daily cursed hour of return

My book club is finally reading a book that is on The List – huzzah! I’m working my way through Wuthering Heights, so we’ll see if Emily can claim the title of favourite Brontë sister from Anne. (Although I have to be honest, it’s going to be hard to de-throne Anne with Tenant of Wildfell Hall. What a great book that is.)
Are we reading Wuthering Heights because of the movie? Great question.…
