I’ve recently finished Digimon Tamers tonight, and let me tell you guys. It is hands down the best Digimon series ever.

Guilmon, Impmon/Beezlemon, and Renamon are all my favorite Digimon in it, and I also like how Tamers has a dark tone to it.

if you think i should do both, vote which one you’d rather i do first

Last day to place a preorder for the GatomonxAngewomon pin!! The Adventure 02 Baby pin is also on preorder for a limited time. The Tamers pins are also instock, though some are low (VIP and Guilmon).
[At Sherbetmon’s bakery during Halloween a NobelPumpkinmon orders Candy corn, though the bakery didn’t sell actual candy corn they did however sell a candy corn cheesecake which Guilmon brought to them.]
Pumpkinmon: Cheesecake. What can I do with cheesecake?
Guilmon: Um… eat it?
[NobelPumpkinmon looked skeptical, but they must’ve liked ‘cos when Guilmon went to check the self-proclaimed czar of Halloween’s table and saw they left a large tip and the bakery did not fall victim to outrageous pranks, which Nobelpumpkinmom was known to do when feeling dissatisfied with someone who shows them poor Halloween spirit.]
{Impmon is sick with a cold and Guilmon is paranoid that he’s gonna get sick too.]
Guilmon: If I get sick, I won’t be pleased.
Ringo: It’s not like your brother is planning get you sick on purpose.
Guilmon: You don’t know Impmon like I do, he can be spiteful at times…

While waiting for new episodes of Beatbreak, I decided to check out Digimon tamers cause I heard some good stuff about it. 15 episodes in and goodness it’s a ride
anyways I present you all fanart of the silly Red Dino

I prefer drawing my digimon with overbites instead of… whatever the official sort of dentition would be called? In Dorumon’s case it just looks like little tusks, but I think no visible teeth is cutest for a fluffy creature.
… The clock ticking engulfed the awkward silence as Takato fidgeted in a office chair next to his freshly new companion, Guilmon. Who -at the moment- was messing with a bowl of candy on the desk.
Takato:… Guilmon, come on, sit down boy. Those aren’t for you.
Guilmon sulked as Takato had to push him back into his seat. He was lucky enough to snatch a piece of candy that he nibbled on while waiting. Ever since they both had be brought to Hypnos, it had been a pretty quiet and uncomfortable process of Takato and Guilmon being tested and checked into the records before they could even begin to speak with Yamaki. Coincidentally, he came into the room at that moment, with a silent but powerful air of intimidation and stoicness. He was one of the people that had started the Digimon zombie project but even he had never met a case such as this where a Digimon had been created from Takato’s digivice and had naturally bonded with Takato, who was still silently fidgeting his hands while Yamaki sat down and checked his records. … Yamaki clicked his lighter in thought before he finally started talking.
Yamaki: Well kid… you’ve certainly gotten Hypnos’s attention. You not only have hidden a Digimon this long but bonded with it without any tech needed…
Takato rubbed his neck and looked at Yamaki.
Takato: Mr. Yamaki sir, with all due respect, Guilmon doesn’t mean any harm.
Yamaki paused his clicking and looked up from the records.
Yamaki: So your Digimon has a name after all.
Takato gulped and started sweating.
Takato: Well… Yes sir…
Yamaki stared down, inspecting Guilmon who looked at Yamaki with a innocent expression. He recoiled slightly at Yamaki’s sharp stare. After a few seconds Yamaki set the records down.
Yamaki: well then… good news is Guilmon isn’t going to be deleted.
Takato sighed with relief but then Yamaki held up a hand.
Yamaki: I’m not finished. We do still believe you both could be of great use to us.
Takato’s eyes widened.
Takato: What?
As Yamaki stood up, he spoke as he looked through a cabinet of files and pulled out a specific red and blue one.
Yamaki: As you know, zombies have become the new normal on earth. Not only that but they are much stronger then some of the more average weapons we have to contain them. But recently we have found something else.
As Yamaki spoke Takato looked through the file and Guilmon sniffed the paper. Takato gasped at what he was seeing: zombie blood mixed with digital data.
Takato: they’re… Digimon?
Yamaki: Not Digimon: digitally advanced zombies. At some point in time, something occurred that made the zombies rise with fused attributes of Digimon. Now of course, this has been kept out of the spotlight so people don’t panic as much. We just tell them that the zombies are much different then what we all thought zombies would be capable of if they ever came to exist.
This brought a question to mind to Takato.
Takato: Then why are you telling us this?
He looked down at Takato and smirked.
Yamaki: because recently we started a new program that I believe you both will be of great use for. Consider this your interview to see if you’re capable.
Takato’s eyes widened in shock and he stood up quickly. Guilmon noticed this and growled at Yamaki.
Takato: What?!? No! I can’t do anything! Please let us go!
Yamaki sighed and walked closer to him.
Look kid, we’re not saying we’re forcing you to. Just take a look at what we’re working on and see if you’re interested, if not then you and your family can go back to your hideout? How’s that sound?
Takato stared at Yamaki and truth be told, he actually thought about… what did he have to lose. Takato hesitantly nodded.
Takato: okay.
Guilmon looked at Takato.
Guilmon: Takato-mon?…
Takato looked over at Guilmon and gave a confident smile.
Takato: Don’t worry, we’re just looking around. I won’t let them do anything to you boy.
At that response, Guilmon’s tail wagged and he gave a goofy smile.
Guilmon: Okay!

Sorry about the long wait for anything. I’ve been super busy and trying to get myself in the rhythm of posting more, especially when it comes to writing. This is just a test run to see how it sounds. This takes place after Takato and Guilmon have been found out and he was brought to Hypnos. I’m fine if anyone has any critiques.

“Our path leads to a place that can’t be found on any map. We chose this path ourselves. A gust of wind blows the stars away, everything you know disappears. Sometimes you think you’ve lost your way. Tomorrow our world might change. Tomorrow you might be our hero. Stay awake now! Don’t give up! Tomorrow I’ll be with you!”

The office lady sighed, feeling tired. It was late evening and she had just managed to leave work, having done some overtime and trying to take a break in Yozakura Park before she returned home. She was unwrapping an onigiri, her dinner, only for the wrapping paper to accidentally fall out of her hands when she attempted to put it in her bag. Sighing in annoyance, she bowed over to pick it up, only to get startled, almost shouting in surprise when she realized someone was standing in front of her.
“Wh-Who are you?”
The office lady stared in stunned silence at a being that had a white plastic, Lego-like body to which it had taped colored cardboard to mimic armor. It had a crudely drawn face, with the DigiLetter “o” as an emblem. It also carried a carried a multicolored marker on its back, as well as a blue pen in its hand. The office lady, however, could make no sense of this being.
“Are you some kind of mascot promoting a video game?” she asked.
“My name is Omekamon,” Omekamon introduced himself, much to the office lady’s bewilderment, then looked at the wrapping paper she was holding. “Did you just throw that on the ground? Isn’t that against the rules?”
“Well, it fell out of my hands…” The office lady stared at Omekamon, who seemingly summoned a piece of paper out of nowhere, replacing the blue pen he was carrying with it, then grabbed the multicolored marker on his back, pointing it at the still confused office lady.
“In the name of the Royal Knights, you will be punished for your crime!” Omekamon said, a multicoloured burst of energy flying straight at the lady from the marker, who didn’t even have the time to react as she completely vanished, turning into an orb of data that flew into the piece of paper Omekamon was holding, with a crude crayon drawing of a woman sitting on a bench resembling the office lady appearing on it. Omekamon looked quite satisfied as he stared at the drawing, then turned on his heel, walking away. “I have managed to apprehend only a handful of criminals, but it seems that there is much more of them in this city. I need to make sure the Real World is purged of all crime in the name of justice!”

“Gatling Arm!”
Gargomon unleashed a barrage of bullets at the Digimon before him, a massive black and blue sludge monster with wires sticking out of it, giving Gargomon a blank stare, as if it wasn’t even registering the pain from the bullets. Gargomon quickly dodged the Digimon’s attack, trying to keep his distance, while Keiji stood further back, his D-Synchro showing the information about this Digimon.
“Raremon. Level: Champion. Type: Undead. Attribute: Virus. An Undead Digimon whose muscles have all rotted away. It tried to extend its life by mechanizing its body, but it destabilized its body, and its configuration data has begun to break down. However, because it was given life by those machines, it will not die, and survives with this grotesque appearance. Because its body has broken down, its offensive power and mental capacity are nonexistent, and it acts on instinct. Its entire body exudes a stench so foul that Baby Digimon will simply run away from it, and will not take it on until they grow to the Champion Level.”
“There is no way that we are going to stop Raremon like this. It is as if it doesn’t feel any of the attacks even if they come from a Vaccine Attribute Digimon,” Keiji told Gargomon, who had to agree with his Tamer. Fortunately, they weren’t alone.
Keiji and Gargomon grinned as Reiko and Kyubimon leapt over them (with Reiko sitting on Kyubimon’s back), with Kyubimon sending several blue fireballs flying at Raremon. “Demon Fireball!”
Before Raremon could retaliate, Reiko and Kyubimon appeared behind it, with Kyubimon charging up another attack, forcing Raremon to turn to her, with Reiko shouting, “Keep it distracted!”
“Gatling Arm!”
“Demon Fireball!”
Both attacks connected with Raremon, who roared, turning towards Reiko and Kyubimon. “Hedoro!”
Reiko summoned her Decoded Data, the blue data particles bursting in her hand as she used it to enhance Kyubimon’s speed, avoiding the barrage of sludge Raremon fired at them. She gritted her teeth as she held onto Kyubimon, who dodged the sludge. “I really hope Takuto knows what he is doing!”
“He said that he had a plan. We just need to be patient,” Kyubimon said, leaping towards the overpass within the Digital Field, then turning back towards Raremon, who prepared for another attack, unaware of the red Demon Dragon Digimon who stepped behind him, nor the Digimon’s Tamer, who prepared a burst of red Decoded Data.
“Kusai Gas!” This time, Raremon spewed a pungent gas from its mouth.
“Exhaust Flame!”
Before Raremon’s attack could even reach Reiko and Kyubimon, a powerful blaze reached the gas, its power enhanced by Takuto’s Decoded Data, causing the gas around Raremon to explode. The Digimon wailed in anger, but the explosion consumed it completely, deleting it. While Takuto, Growlmon, Keiji and Gargomon cheered, all Reiko could do was to sigh in relief, while Kyubimon sensed that, despite Reiko agreed with another of Takuto’s plans, she still had doubts in his leadership skills.
“You know, when you said that we should use Raremon’s gas to harm it, I really started to doubt your sanity,… and my own for even agreeing with this,” Reiko said as Kyubimon leapt down from the overpass, joining the celebration.
“Yet, you still agreed,” Keiji pointed out cheekily. Reiko rolled her eyes, but didn’t argue back. Despite initially being cold towards Takuto and Keiji, she did warm up to these two idiot Tamers to the point that she called for their back-up without even thinking the moment she saw Raremon going down her street, preventing it just in time from smashing through a house by creating the Digital Field and have Kyubimon keep Raremon busy until Takuto, Growlmon, Keiji and Gargomon arrived.
Unknown to the Tamers and their Digimon, their whole battle was observed by Impmon, who was simply sitting on a nearby lamppost, far enough to not get caught in the battle, but also close enough to follow it from his spot. Impmon frowned, staring at the three Champion Digimon, clenching his fists. Even if he wanted to participate in the battle against Raremon, he knew he couldn’t. He may have been someone who liked to battle against strong Digimon, but even he knew his own limits.
It frustrated him to no end.
xXx
After Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon de-digivolved back to Guilmon, Terriermon and Renamon, the Tamers decided to celebrate their victory at a vending machine restaurant after making sure there were no other people inside it. Guilmon and Terriermon, who was sitting on Guilmon’s head, had fun watching the vending machine dropping the ingredients for the ramen they wanted to make by themselves, while Renamon was in the corner, waiting for the vitamin drink she selected. Takuto, Keiji and Reiko exchanged glances, glad to see their Digimon enjoying themselves, even if it was something simple like a meal, and quickly joined them by grabbing some of the food before settling down at one of the tables.
“Itadakimasu!”
The group started eating, feeling any tension from earlier just melting away. Takuto grinned, taking a sip of his drink after eating some mildly spicy ramen. “Man, that hits the spot! I think we should go out like this more often.” When he got questioning looks from Reiko and Keiji, he added, “I meant hanging out together. I’m really glad I got to meet other Tamers and Digimon whom I can call friends.”
“Don’t tell me that you don’t have any friends at school,” Terriermon gave Takuto a mischievous smile. Takuto responded with a weary smile.
“Well, besides Satoshi, I don’t even hang out with my classmates… and even then, Satoshi and I would only meet up to play games at Akihabara with other Digimon fans,” Takuto admitted.
“Ah, if that doesn’t sound familiar,” Terriermon said, directing his mischievous smile towards Keiji, who sighed.
“Terriermon, I don’t think it’s really necessary to bring up such a topic…” Keiji started, only for Terriermon to cut him off.
“Weren’t you the one who stated Takuto is your friend in front of Satoshi despite knowing Takuto for only a couple of hours?” he said. Keiji felt embarrassed for Terriermon calling him out like that.
“Well, I do have people I play video games with online, but… right, I spent most of my time with Terriermon,” Keiji admitted. “Most of my classmates would rather hang out with Mirai than with me.”
“I don’t have any friends, besides Renamon of course,” Reiko admitted bluntly, looking quite nonchalant about it. When she saw Takuto, Guilmon, Keiji and Terriermon giving her a look, she added, “I’m busy with my ikebana lessons, and my grandmother already hates that I’m a Tamer, so I have already figured out that I wouldn’t have much time for having friends. It is quite convenient for me that you two are Tamers.”
“You… don’t really care, do you?” Takuto said with an awkward smile.
“I care about having teammates who don’t tell me what to do. I consider myself fortunate that you’re the resident Gogglehead,” Reiko replied. Takuto just stared at Reiko, unsure whether to take her words as a compliment or an insult.
“I find it quite fascinating that you and Keiji simply agreed to treat Takuto as your leader just because he wears goggles all the time,” Renamon said in a calm manner.
“Takuto said that it is tradition that the Tamer who wears goggles is the leader,” Guilmon answered, glancing at the three Tamers. Reiko and Keiji exchanged glances, making the Digimon wonder what was wrong.
“To be honest, I never really thought why we just decided to call Takuto the leader. I mean, I could also just put on goggles and take the leader role,” Reiko said.
“You know, I never really thought of myself being a leader of this team,” Takuto said, drawing everyone’s attention. “I mean, I just wear goggles because I thought they would make me look more like a Tamer, not because I want to be the leader. And then when you two came along, you just started following whatever idea I had.”
“I’m not much of a leader material, so I’m fine having someone else in charge,” Keiji said with a smile.
“As said before, I just want to battle my own way. I don’t need to be the leader for that,” Reiko added with a huff.
“Then, I promise that I won’t disappoint either of you as this group’s leader,” Takuto said in an assuring tone. He then fell silent. “Although, I wonder what we should do about Setsuna, Impmon and Calumon.”
“They did cause a lot of trouble for us. Remember that incident with Wendigomon?” Reiko said with a frown. Terriermon gave her a cheeky smile.
“Are you still salty that you lost to Impmon and Setsuna?” he said, only for Reiko and Renamon to give him a death glare that made him sweatdrop.
“They may have caused trouble, but they also helped us out, didn’t they?” Keiji pointed out. “They helped us defeat the Fangmon, and even Wendigomon; even if it was just for the Digimon’s data.”
“Speaking of which, is it just me or did Impmon kind of stop appearing during the more recent battles?” Terriermon asked.
“Now that you mention it, we did battle a lot of strong Champion Level Digimon. I know for a fact that Impmon cannot digivolve, so even if he tried to join, he wouldn’t be able to do much,” Guilmon said.
“Setsuna and Impmon have Calumon with them, yet Impmon still cannot digivolve?” Renamon asked.
“Impmon doesn’t want to use Calumon’s power to digivolve. He wants to become stronger just the same way as we do,” Guilmon explained.
“Speaking of which, how does one trigger Digivolution? I mean, we managed to do it, but it still feels more like we got lucky,” Reiko said.
“I think it has to do with our bond,” Takuto said with a confident smile. “When Guilmon digivolved to Growlmon for the first time, I could feel how much he trusts me. Besides, if the Decoded Data are our emotions taking a physical form, then obviously, trusting our Digimon and deepening our bond would make them grow stronger.”
“I guess that makes sense,” Keiji replied. “However, I wonder if this applies only for Champion Level. If we keep push the limit, we might be able to reach Ultimate or even Mega.”
“That still feels like a far goal to reach,” Renamon said.
“Right. So, for now, we should just do what we can until we figure out the next step,” Takuto concluded with a smile.
xXx
“You seem to be bothered by something, Impmon,” Setsuna told Impmon as she, Impmon and Calumon were walking back home to their apartment. They have just successfully defeated a Goblimon, but despite the boost Impmon gained from absorbing Goblimon’s data, he didn’t seem to be enjoying his victory as much. Instead, he was unusually quiet, seemingly lost in his own thoughts, at least until Setsuna snapped him out of them.
“What should I be bothered with?” Impmon asked, trying to sound nonchalant. “I’m doing fine. I defeated that Goblimon and I got its data.”
“You didn’t bother any of the other Tamers or their Digimon in the past couple days, -calu,” Calumon, who was clinging to Setsuna’s shoulder, said. He smiled. “I’m glad that you’re not being mean anymore, -calu.”
“The only reason I’m not joining those battles is because I don’t have interest in them,” Impmon responded in a huff.
“Is it because you can’t digivolve yet, -calu?”
Impmon felt as if Calumon hit him with a brick. He attempted to maintain his dignity by not answering, well aware that Calumon wasn’t teasing him, but just stating facts, but he still couldn’t help feel like it was a jab at him.
“H-Help!”
Before the group could continue their conversation, they suddenly heard a scream from a nearby street. They entered it, just to see an Omekamon turning a human into a drawing, with Omekamon scoffing.
“Jaywalking is a crime! You should’ve known that!” Omekamon growled, staring at the piece of paper.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
Omekamon suddenly turned around, only to see Setsuna, Impmon and Calumon approaching him. He waved the drawing, responding, “I was just punishing a criminal.”
“A criminal? For jaywalking?” Setsuna’s eyes narrowed.
“Of course! Now, do you have any crime you want to confess?” Omekamon asked, glaring at them as he pointed his pen at them. Setsuna responded by activating a Digital Field, leaving Omekamon surprised.
“Omekamon. Level: Champion. Type: Puppet. Attribute: Data. A Puppet Digimon born from the data of a certain computer’s design drawing. It doesn’t know who it is, so for now, it dresses as one of the holy ’‘Royal Knights”, who are famous among Digimon. Its “Rakugaki Rocket”, which fires off the pen it carries on its back like a rocket, stains the body, annoying other Digimon. As for the pen, it seems it found it within a certain computer’s art software. Its Special Move is its unexpectedly powerful “Omeka Kick”.“
’'Hmph, so you dress up as a Royal Knight?” Impmon scoffed, staring at Omekamon.
“Of course I do! I’m a huge fan of them and their brand of justice! They were the Defenders of the Digital World, protecting it from all kinds of dangers and I want to honor them by apprehending criminals in the Real World,” Omekamon said proudly, brandishing his pen. “Now, what kind of crime have you committed? You strike me as a shady figure.”
“The only crime I will commit is eating your data,” Impmon said, giving Omekamon a confident grin and summoning a flame on his finger. Setsuna, who stood behind Impmon, snapped her fingers, a burst of purple Decoded Data appearing in her hand.
Then, Impmon and Omekamon charged at each other.
xXx
“Hey, what’s wrong Guilmon?” Takuto asked. After the Tamers and their partners finished their meal, they were about to go their separate ways when Guilmon suddenly displayed a more predatory behavior, his pupils shrinking and turning into slits and him growling.
“There is a Digimon nearby,” Guilmon replied, running off. Takuto, Keiji, Reiko, Terriermon and Renamon followed him without a word, a little worried about what this Digimon might be. Guilmon stopped at an empty ally, with Takuto lifting up the D-Synchro, creating a rift to the Digital Field that closed behind them.
“Graffiti Rocket!”
The scene that awaited them was that of Impmon being sent flying back by a sudden explosion of Omekamon’s attack, the pen on his back flying like a rocket at the Small Devil Digimon. Despite his appearance, Omekamon was surprisingly strong, sending another Graffiti Rocket flying at Impmon, who rolled to the side, barely dodging the attack and using Night of Fire to burn the papers he almost fell into.
“What’s going on?” Guilmon ran over to Impmon, attempting to help him up, but Impmon just swatted his clawed hand away.
[First Riders by Digimon Ghost Game]
“That Omekamon thinks he’s a Royal Knight, going around and saying how he is performing acts of justice by trapping humans into drawings for stuff like walking on grass or leaving a napkin folded the wrong way…” Impmon gritted his teeth, clutching his side. “He is stronger than he looks… Damn it…”
Guilmon frowned upon hearing that. “Leave Omekamon to us. Takuto!”
Takuto nodded, exchanging glances with Keiji and Reiko, who nodded back, Guilmon, Terriermon and Renamon ready for the battle.
“Decode!” Takuto extended his hand with the palm up, keeping his other hand in a protective manner slight above it as a sudden burst of red data particles appeared in his palm, flickering like a burning flame. He then clenched his hand, the red data particles burning in his fist like fire, and with a swift motion lifted his hand up above his head, the data particles then getting absorbed into the Digivice Synchro, only for the screen to glow red. “Synchro!”
The data particles turned into a red orb of light that went into Guilmon’s chest as, the Digital Hazard on his chest flashing red as he looked down at it, the Partner Digimon absorbing the orb, causing a bright red light to burst out of his body and tear away his skin, leaving only a wireframe grid.
“Guilmon, digivolve to…!”
Guilmon’s slashed with his claws across the air, red bursts of flames and data particles enveloping his body as it grew in size, starting with his arms and chest, blades appearing on his elbows and black stripes and marks of the Digital Hazard forming on his shoulders, arms, chest, legs and tail. DigiLetters glowed and formed on the stripes on his tail, legs and arms, reading “Digital Monster”. The Digimon slashed through the air with his elbow blade in a diagonal downwards direction, showcasing his his head, which now had a pair of horns and white hair, then slashed with his other elbow blade in a horizontal direction, striking a pose, arms now close to his body.
“Growlmon!”
“Decode!” Keiji held up his arm just in front of his face, two fingers stretched out in a V-sign as he pointed them downwards to pose, with green data particles suddenly bursting out in his hand. He then clenched his fist, doing a punching motion as the data particles got absorbed into the Digivice Synchro, only for the screen to glow green. “Synchro!”
The data particles turned into a green orb of light that went into Terriermon’s chest, the Partner Digimon absorbing it, only for a bright green light to burst out of his body and tear away his skin, leaving only a wireframe grid.
“Terriermon, digivolve to…!”
Terriermon grew taller and bulkier, new skin covering his body as red markings appeared on his face, his arms shaping into mini-gun-like gauntlets and jeans appearing on his legs. A bandolier formed in his hand, which he slung over his shoulder like a sash, clipping it, and struck a pose, mini-guns pointed outwards.
“Gargomon!”
“Decode!” Reiko folded her arms in an X-shape, palms open, with blue data particles bursting out in her hand with the Digivice Synchro. She then unfolded her arms with a flourish, then clenched her fist as she held her arm up before her, the data particles then getting absorbedinto the Digivice Synchro, only for the screen to glow blue. “Synchro!”
The data particles turned into a blue orb of light that went into Renamon’s chest as she leapt into a backflip, the Partner Digimon absorbing it, causing a bright blue light to burst out of her body and tear away her skin, leaving only a wireframe grid.
“Renamon, digivolve to…!”
Renamon’s body was surrounded by wisps of blue flames, completely enveloping it, and she leapt once more into a frontflip, turning into a blue fireball. Then, out of the flames, nine tails with white tips emerged, followed by four legs and a large vulpine body with a white mane and a fox head with the Tao symbol on her forehead, as well as shide attached to it the white and red ribbon-like bind around her neck. Blue flames danced around her as she struck a pose.
“Kyubimon!”
“Wh-What is this?” Omekamon was stunned to see Guilmon, Terriermon and Renamon digivolve into Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon, all three Digimon surrounding him. “Three on one is not fair!”
“Neither is trapping innocent humans into drawings, but here we are,” Gargomon replied, shrugging.
“I won’t let you interfere with my plans! As a Royal Knight, I need to continue with my mission, even if it means defeating all of you!” Omekamon shouted. “Graffiti Rocket!”
Pen after pen manifested on Omekamon’s back as he fired them all at Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon, forcing them to dodge. Meanwhile, Setsuna and Calumon reached Impmon, both concerned over his well-being, albeit not saying anything. Going by Impmon’s expression, he was furious at himself that he couldn’t defeat Omekamon on his own, clenching his fist as he watched Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon countering.
“Exhaust Flame!”
“Gatling Arm!”
“Demon Fireball!”
Despite his small and stubby appearance, Omekamon was much faster than they expected, dodging Growlmon’s flames, Gargomon’s bullets and Kyubimon’s fireballs. To make things worse, he also managed to catch them off guard, firing several Graffiti Rocket attacks, with Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon dodging the initial volley, only to get caught off guard by the pen rockets they didn’t see, the rockets exploding upon hitting them.
Takuto, Keiji and Reiko gasped, concerned for their partners, but as the smoke cleared, Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon looked unharmed, being just a surprised as their Tamers that nothing happened. At least, until Impmon shouted, “Watch out! You have been marked!”
“Marked? What are you talking about?” Takuto asked, but he got his answer the moment Omekamon fired more Graffiti Rocket attacks, with Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon once more attempting the dodge them, only for the pen rockets to turn into homing missiles, this time managing to hit the three Champion Level Digimon, exploding and doing some serious damage.
Impmon frowned, muttering, “This is how it starts.” He then turned to Takuto. “They mustn’t touch any paper Omekamon summons! If they do, they will be turned into drawings!”
“This sounds bad,” Takuto muttered, keeping Impmon’s warning on mind. “Have you heard Growlmon? Don’t touch any of the paper Omekamon summons!”
“I did,” Growlmon said, one eye closed as he recovered from Omekamon’s attack. He then faced Omekamon once more, with Gargomon and Kyubimon flanking him. “To think that Omekamon even believes that he is a Royal Knight and then acts like this…” Growlmon frowned, shaking his head and roared at Omekamon, “That’s not how a Royal Knight acts!”
“Oh, please, what would you know about the duties of a Royal Knight?” Omekamon responded in a mocking tone. Growlmon growled, but didn’t respond, only glaring at Omekamon, who continued, “I cleanse this world of people who commit unforgivable crimes. I may not be a member of the Royal Knights, but I embody their spirit.”
“The Royal Knights were a group who defended the Digital World from great threats like the Seven Great Demon Lords and dutifully served Yggdrasill. How is any of this a way of embodying the spirit of a Royal Knight?” Growlmon questioned him in disbelief. “You’re just making people miserable instead of protecting them!”
“No, I’m not! I am making the streets of the Real World safer! Graffiti Rocket!” Omekamon protested, firing another Graffiti Rocket at Growlmon, who anticipated it, using his Plasma Blade to cut through it, the pen rocket fizzling out while Growlmon remained unharmed.
Omekamon, realizing that his Graffiti Rocket clearly wasn’t going to cut it, held up his blue pen, summoning a massive surge of data which turned into pristine white paper, then sent it flying at Growlmon, Gargomon and Kyubimon, making the paper look a swarm of birds that attacked the three.
“Gatling Arm!” Gargomon fired bullet after bullet at the paper, shredding it, but the paper was coming much faster than he could fire his bullets, even when Keiji increased his speed via the Decoded Data, with one of the papers touching him and Gargomon turning into data before merging with the paper into a drawing.
“Demon Fireball!” Kyubimon had more luck with her attacks, as he fireballs burned the papers and her natural agility allowed her to dodge them more easily. Things went sideways when she attempted a more direct attack. “Fox Flame Dragon!” Kyubimon’s idea was that, by summoning more flames in the form of a dragon that would incinerate the paper, she would be able to destroy more of it, but much to her horror, unleashing one powerful attack left a brief window of vulnerability that Omekamon had used to send one of his papers to trap her into a drawing.
“Exhaust Flame!” Growlmon approached this fight with brute strength, unleashing a blaze of fire everywhere he could, covering his surroundings and himself in flames. However, even with Takuto’s Decoded Data, he knew that he couldn’t last long. However, both he and Takuto refused to give up, having seen their friends fall, and for Growlmon, this wasn’t just a battle to prove the overzealous Omekamon wrong… this was a battle to protect those he cared about.
“Growlmon, take them down!” Takuto’s put all of his energy into the Decoded Data, which flared up, pushing himself to the limit. Growlmon’s pupils turned into slits, as he sensed Takuto’s willpower and intention, his blast growing more powerful. Then, he stopped, much to Omekamon’s confusion, holding up his elbows as he charged up the blades with energy that turned into refined Decoded Data.
“Plasma Blade!” Growlmon then charged at papers, revealing, to the shock of everyone present, that the papers couldn’t affect the Decoded Data covered blades, which shredded through them like it was nothing. Keiji and Reiko exchanged glances, realizing that Takuto’s recklessness once more had a point to it. Both of them ran towards the drawings that held their Partner Digimon, grabbing them and putting all of their Decoded Data into it, only to fall from exhaustion when the Decoded Data countered the data of the paper, overloading and releasing Gargomon and Kyubimon.
“Keiji!”
“Reiko, are you alright?”
Gargomon and Kyubimon checked on their Tamers, still being stunned that they somehow got released from their paper prison, while Keiji and Reiko gazed and Takuto and Growlmon, with Gargomon and Kyubimon then following their gaze.
“Omeka Kick!” Despite the unexpectedly powerful kick from Omekamon, Growlmon didn’t budge, standing firm as he defended himself with his blades, slashing at Omekamon and leaving a cut across his chest, where the Omegamon-like emblem was.
“Exhaust Flame!” Growlmon fired one more devastating blast at Omekamon, this one finally ending the battle as Omekamon collapsed, laying on the ground. He was defeated, but not deleted. However, Growlmon, just like Gargomon and Kyubimon, de-digivolved, not only being out of energy, but also wanting to preserve what little energy Takuto had left. Guilmon turned to Takuto, who was on his knees, breathing heavily. Keiji had warned them about overusing the Decoded Data, and Takuto, following typically Gogglehead logic to charge at the problem this time, reached his limit. Still, he gave Guilmon a smile and a thumbs up, with Guilmon just sighing in exasperation and exhaustion. Guilmon then turned to Omekamon, who was lying on the ground, only to to see the data on Omekamon’s feet slowly dispersing. It seemed that Growlmon’s final attack was powerful enough to delete Omekamon.
“You won. Now, you get to see a warrior dying…” Omekamon said, sounding slightly bitter. “Have you come to gloat?”
Guilmon couldn’t help but feel a sting of guilt. Omekamon was someone who looked up to the Royal Knights and was trying to do the right thing, even if he went about it the wrong way. It was horrible and Guilmon knew that Omekamon deserved punishment for targeting innocent people, but even then, punishing someone for their misguided attempts at protection wasn’t easy. Instead, he wished that he had more time to talk to Omekamon.
“No, I’m not here to gloat,” Guilmon murmured. “You’re not the only one who looks up to the Royal Knights.”
“Then… you’re also like me…” Omekamon said, now a little amused, as his chest started to disappear. Guilmon looked down, a somber look on his expression.
“Yeah… I am like you…” he muttered. Omekamon smiled.
“It feels good to know that I lost against another Royal Knight. I guess, it was really stupid of me for doing that… Well, those who got imprisoned will be realeased,… and you can continue fighting instead of me,” Omekamon said, his head starting to disperse. “Farawell…”
Guilmon remained silent, watching the data fly into the sky, his own eyes holding nothing but sorrow. He wasn’t sure whether he was mourning Omekamon… or the Royal Knights who had fallen a long time ago, their only legacy now being Digimon who fought in their name.
xXx
“How are you holding up, Impmon?” Setsuna asked, having taken Impmon and Calumon and escaped the Digital Field earlier, now carrying Impmon on her back. The beaten-up Impmon didn’t respond, not even when Calumon gave him a sad look, trying to get his attention. Instead, Impmon replayed in his head what had happened during the battle – more specifically, what Growlmon had told Omekamon and the heaviness in his gaze as Guilmon.
I have been right this whole time, haven’t I? Impmon thought, his eyes narrowing as he ignored the pain pulsing through his body. This must’ve hit you quite hard, Gallantmon.
#Next Chapter

I forgot how many characters the show actually had
I’m rewatching Digimon Tamers, this time subbed. I remember liking it a lot when I watched it dubbed as a kid/early teen… Terriermon was always my fave – picked him as my starter in Cyber Sleuth for a reason :3
I remember liking Guilmon a lot, but wasn’t as attached to him.
But now, being re-introduced to this goober in Japanese?
Ohhhhh my GOD, Masako Nozawa as Guilmon is consistently melting my damn heart. She plays him with such earnest, heartfelt innocence and whimsy. Guilmon is a loving creature, a sweetheart, VERY friend-shaped and adorable, and Nozawa’s interpretation hits it out of the park.
I think he’s now my favorite character in all of Digimon thus far thanks to her performance.

Hypnos: The Vompany has expanded around the world at this point, due to their vast research on Digimon to better understand the situation.
Yamaki: Just like in the Digimon Tamers series, he’s rather stiff for the most part at first but cares more for the kids safety later down the line.
Takato and Guilmon: Takato had no interest in this zombie apocalypse and was scared about having to fight with his family to survive, he used his creativity to as a sort of escapism from the way the world had turned into. The bakery his family owned was used as a resting spot for their family when they needed more food.
Guilmon would come to life the same way he does in the tv show one night while his family are tucked away in a hideout from the zombies. This would still cause Hypnos to detect this new Digimon and take Takato and Guilmon to start working in their digital zombie hunter program. Rika and Henry are already in this program with Henry being in their the longest.
Henry and Terriermon: Being the son of someone who works closely with Hypnos, he very quickly gets chosen as one of the first children, especially when he ends up gaining a Digimon from his pastime of playing video games.
Terriermon tries his best to keep him calm through all these new changes and experiences that occur over time.
Rika and Renamon: They are probably one of the more tolerable at going out during the digital zombie crisis. Rika’s mother is much wealthier than the other kids parents so they can afford a nice hideout to safely relax. However Rika doesn’t like being cooped up and sneaks out to relax and hones her skills in fighting digital zombies. During this time us when she meets Renamon who is also trying to survive. So they decide to work together and are soon chosen by Hypnos by the program when they are caught working together while fighting a hoard of zombies.
Impmon and Ai and Mako: (Warning: this is a sad one.) Ai and Mako’s parents are gone and they live with their grandparents. As some of the youngest children who get chosen much later, they are the most used to the world they now live in. They meet Impmon one day when he is fleeing some zombies. In a stroke of kindness, they let him stay with them and for a while things are somewhat okay, until the usual problem happens with Ai and Mako having arguments. The only difference is that this not only costs Impmon staying but later costs Ai and Mako being picked up by Hypnos when their grandparents are bitten and help them leave before the grandparents are turned. This leaves Impmon coming back later, not knowing where they are.
Impmon: Before the zombie apocalypse happened, Impmon was already working on survival and wanting to get stronger. So you could imagine it’s a miracle that he’s even alive with how often he pokes the bear in a sense. At some point he does meet the three tamers while the tamers were on a mission and seeing the humans with their Digimon fills him with the same jealousy he has in Digimon Tamers. One day his recklessness is taken too far when he almost dies from a zombie attack which leads the others to take him back to Hypnos to see what they can do… But Hypnos takes it too far and since they have to help him, they also improve him by turning him into a weapon. A weapon that can function on zombie blood while he’s in his mega level form: Beelzemon.
I’ll continue more information in the next post.
