However, the 5th figure (Carcer) doesn’t share any correspondences with the 6th, indicating that it represents a factor related to the prospective apartment that’ll be working against the aforementioned answer to the query. Carcer here could therefore be referring to an unsatisfactory lease agreement, or possibly an inconvenient delay in the apartment’s availability. Looking at the right half of the chart, the 1st representing me is Populus, an earth-ruled figure with a “unvarying” quality of movement, likely reflecting my current need to feel some semblance of stability. Update (3-10-2026): I finally got to visit and tour the red-brick apartment complex mentioned in this reading and was really surprised at how close I came. During the tour, the leasing manager showed me two units that I liked, one which was newly renovated and another that wasn’t. The renovated unit nearly met all of my main preferences but demanded a substantially higher rent than the other, which I found incredibly frustrating. While the unrenovated unit had a couple of annoying but fixable issues and lacked certain conveniences, its layout and affordability was hard to pass up. I signed the lease for the unrenovated unit just yesterday.

The fifth ternary of the Major Arcana in Tarot is composed of XIII Death, XIV Temperance, and XV The Devil. In Papus’ ternary system, any triad expresses the dynamic of י (Yod), ה (He), and ו (Vau): impulse, receptivity, and synthesis. Not only that, but it sequentially reproduces the zodiacal sequence of Scorpio, Sagittarius and Capricorn, from the eighth to the tenth houses.

In this specific case, Death represents the י (Yod), the initiating impulse of dissolution, transmutation, and the symbolic death of the ego. It is aligned with the sign of Scorpio, the fixed and subterranean Water where all forms decay to release their essence. This is a destructive current governed by Mars, the nocturnal malefic, who feels at home when the Sun has set and shadow begins its reign. The somber eighth house of the Zodiac, a succedent house, is its natural dwelling.

I’m also seeing a coming together of opposites, maybe in terms of personality and genders (a peaceful person with an energetic person, a masc person with a femme person).

The Carcer of a Dancefloor

It is interesting to observe the layout of Berghain’s Funktion-One sound system. The stacks are profiled exactly like the columns of Carcer. Geomantically, Carcer is the figure of Saturn in Capricorn, domiciled, cold and dry, where matter closes upon itself. The stacks stand aligned like votive stones of an underground temple, projecting waves that shape the space like walls of sound. Everything inside is vibration imprisoned in form.

Carcer comes from the Latin root meaning “enclosure, barrier, place of confinement.” From it descend incarceration, incarcerate, the act of being enclosed within limits. It is the figure of Saturn in his purest essence, the lord of boundaries, of finitude, of the irreversible flow of time.

In astrology, Saturn finds one of his domiciles in Capricorn, the cardinal Earth. He is at home in density, in the element that bears weight and resists movement. Capricorn is matter in its most structured form. It is cold, hard, enduring, the perfect mirror for Saturn’s leaden temperament. It is the weight that holds the Spirit down to matter, binds it to the world, fastens it by the feet so it may not levitate. I’ve been experimenting more with Geomancy as I’ve been learning. Had a fun idea to combine geomancy with numerology. All you need to determine the geomantic figure is an odd or even. Sounds like a fun medium to utilize.
