I’ve been reading “The Great Divide” recently. Its an interesting take on the post apocalypse trope. When two people touch, one of them dies and the other takes their soul into themselves. Really interesting premise!

I’ve recently been reading the Xena comics by Dynamite. I have vague memories of the 90s tv show, but this comic has really made me appreciate the character!
Lisa, you don’t spend ten years as a homicidal maniac without learning a few things about dynamite.

Ok, I’ve caught up with the entirety of DC K.O. up to this point so I can decipher what is going on in this book. All that to say, I am so disappointed in this book.

When this was announced, I was hyped. Three of my favorite characters in Wonder Woman, Red Sonja, and Vampirella in one comic book? Count me in. Then I finally get around to reading it, and none of these battles have any impact. For something that they promoted the crap out of, these battles barely had any room to breath. A 48 page comic, and each battle gets maybe one or two pages each. No one wins in this, especially, and most frustrating, is the battle between Superman and Homelander. I don’t care how beaten down Superman was by the tournament, he would still be able to beat down that evil wannabe. All of this feels like not wanting to step on any toes with the other comic companies, making a very safe, very pedestrian comic reading experience. The brief battle between Wonder Woman and Red Sonja was cool, but emphasis on the word brief, with, yet again, no winner between the two. The treatment of Vampirella was especially bullshit. You’d think it would be as epic of a fight as Batman Vs Dracula, but all is shown is Batwoman giving Vampirella a snapmare and then nothing. Why wasn’t this a 100 page special to get all these battles the room to breathe? The way this was all resolved was especially frustrating, and made it all feel pointless. Teleporting the outsiders away to only kill off half of the DC champions, to have the most predictable final four ever. This was marketed as a tournament, and it has played out as the most boring, predictable tournament ever. All this comic did is make me long for a Wonder Woman/Red Sonja miniseries, preferably penned by Gail Simone, who is familiar with both characters.
