Some of my favorite comfort movie series:
one saving grace of being a moody person with ADHD: you can lean into it when you’re feeling like shit and many times you’ll be feeling better pretty soon even when nothing’s changed.
In the Divergent Universe that exists in my head there’s a narrator that glazes Tris like the JJK narrator glazes Gojo
I think yall said you want to be in a dystopian too much cuz you managed to actually get us in one
i love how u can tell when a fandom is being revived by how many ppl randomly start liking your (5+ yrs) old posts from that fandom

Divergent “Rev It Up" For many artists, music is the ultimate vessel for transcendence—when the foot hits the pedal, the hands hit the keys, or the drumsticks strike the head, something speaks directly to the soul. The whole body lights up like a Christmas tree, and three-piece powerhouse Divergent aims to channel that undeniable intoxication as they chase the next great rock classic. After a lifetime of grappling with tormenting what-ifs, an enduring love for music (and a bit of perfect timing) ultimately prevailed, reigniting a 40-year-old dream once pushed to the wayside. Lead vocalist, guitarist, and keyboardist James Richards, bassist and vocalist Mike … #Interviews #Divergent #Interview #Media #rock
i’m reading Fourth Wing and these Divergent vibes.
and i can’t.
Tris and Eric Violet and Xaden 🌚
Dunno if you heard but I’m undertaking an absolutely herculean endeavor and actually trying to make Divergent good
Things I am changing: making the characters 18+, making Tris and Four gay aroace t4t transmascs with a weird nonsexual intimacy thing going on, completely revamping the factions (I’m basing them on the Big Five personality traits) and their politics, cutting out the eugenics propaganda stuff from the later books entirely and making it about how personality is socially constructed instead
of course anon! I have in fact posted this fanfic to both wattpad and ao3 as well!

Do you love Harry Potter, Divergent, Hunger Games, Avatar the Last Air bender, and other books/media like that?
Do you love queer representation?
Do you love disability representation?
Do love magic and magical creatures?
Do you love love?
Look no further than the Academy of Magical Creatures series by Megan Linski and Alicia Rades.
Ask your local library if they have the physical books or go right to youtube for audio books!
The audio books have dual narration as the books have dual pov that takes turns each chapter for the main characters done by Jennifer Jill Araya and Graham Halstead.
It takes place in a native American city made up of people who have powers of fire, water, air, or earth as well as bonded creatures. The main cast is college students as your main character enters her first year after finding out she’s has the ability to use fire and that her parents adopted her and raised her outside the tribe for reasons you’ll find out in the first book. Book of fire. Watch as she learns who her ancestors are as well as her parents and how magical her world really is.
This series is refreshing and holds nothing back. You watch as the group face real world issues, as well tribal customs and traditions, and corruption of those in power.
Personally, I’ve been mourning the joy I had for Harry Potter due to the author being a disgusting woman and growing up to realize how BAD the writing really is. This series brings all the elements of the media I mentioned at the top that I love. Pun in tended.
If i had a nickel every time a fictional character died because a wall exploded, I’d have two nickels.
Which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it’s happened twice.
I approached Inbox Zero (zero unreads, not zero messages, see also “doom pile”) today for the first time in over a decade, and I haven’t been smacked in the face with such clarity about the breadth & depth of the blast crater in my life possibly at all, since this whole shit started in 2012, as I was by being set back on my heels today after winnowing all the junk out of my Personal personal inbox and then scrolling through dozens upon dozens of messages from friends, all left unread because I was wayyyy too burnt out to process them, left for “later,” always intending to come back later… and eventually forgotten.
they go back years.
my situation got real bad in 2019, but the trend was evident in the strata of accreted messages as far back as 2013.
these days I send maybe 1% as much email as I used to. that’s not an exaggeration. the very idea of having so many words in me is almost completely foreign now. and in fact I’ve been learning to enjoy keeping my mouth shut, an idea which would have left the me of 15, 20 years ago spluttering in disbelief.
I’ve lost friends because of this. I actually emailed a friend last week with whom I let a wonderful thread drop in 2020 due to the overwhelm of where I was living. told her I’m back in the city. she responded. pleasant, well worded just like we used to exchange… and with an unmistakable note of distance which wasn’t there before.
so it goes.

Divergent by Veronica Roth
In Beatrice Prior’s dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue—Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is—she can’t have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself. During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles to determine who her friends really are—and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes infuriating boy fits into the life she’s chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she’s kept hidden from everyone because she’s been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers a growing conflict that threatens to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves … or it might destroy her.
I am glad I went back and read this book because it had a foundation in my younger years. Only after reading it again did I realize how much of the books I’ve added to my TBR Jar recently have probably been inspired by the plot and the grit in the horrifying message of this story.
Having waited so long to refamiliarize myself with this book allowed me to be able to cry at the same scenes, giggle and kick my feet at the romantic tension, and read it all with a more understanding perspective. When I was younger, I didn’t yet have the opportunity to understand the world we live in. All I understood was that the leaders in this book were cruel and insane for starting a war to benefit themselves. Having more understanding that the book was directly inspired by a worse version of the very things that happen in life around us… made this story all the more horrifying.
This series will always have a place in my heart as one of the big three dystopian series.
I am divergent!
Just finished reading the Divergent series! Such a shame they never made a third one…
I have an overwhelming urge to edit Tris to Slipping Through My Fingers. BUT I DONT KNOW HOW TO EDIT
(Yes I just finished reading it. May I just say I’m crying?)
