The idea of Dess’ design being revealed one day terrifies me

dess (knight) and friend might straight up be jason voorhees and freddy krueger. dess and jason have multiple parallels already that i’ve gone over before but freddy kreuger is an imaginary demon guy which like. lines up with FRIEND pretty well right?

Tbh I don’t care if Dess is human, monster, Knight, or trans. All I know is that she’s a cryptid now.

im struggling to make a proper theory post for shatterdess, so instead of compiling my evidence right now ill just explain my timeline of events to hopefully explain it a bit

• Gaster, in his interdimensional freak scientist explorations, discovers dark fountains/worlds and decides to experiment with them
• he chooses the bunker in hometown to experiment with them since its a lot safer and more private than experimenting in public and nobody goes to the bunker
• little kid Kris, Noelle, and Dess go exploring in the forest after seeing a strange cat and come across the bunker (whether Asriel is there or not is currently irrelevant to this timeline, if you want him to be there he can be there too)
• Dess, being probably the oldest and most courageous (or careless) there, decides to try to get inside the bunker and disappears
• the other kids, younger and rightfully terrified, choose not to go after her and just go home (Noelle ends up with trauma-induced amnesia and forgets the event, Kris’s trauma causes them to emotionally/socially deteriorate and end up in art therapy)

now i must say after this we get more into blurry conjecture territory so if i lose you here i understand. this is just a possibility to consider

• Dess not only falls into the dark world, but directly into the dark fountain (or she tries to seal the fountain to get home), but she doesnt have a human soul and ends up being torn apart, falling into Gaster’s creation and becoming shattered across time and space (sound familiar?)
• two main entities came out of this shattering: a body (which takes on Dess’s rebellious and playful nature) and a voice (which takes on her more wary and knowledgeable side)
• the body, wanting to play with her family and friends again, but not conscious enough to see the consequences of her actions, becomes the knight. she sees everything as a game and sees the dark worlds and fights as a way to play with Kris again, acting as a parallel to the player
• the voice becomes, well, the voice in the code. self explanatory, not much to say there

(also as the knights sword seems to be made of the same material as the knight itself, and as the sword drops a shadow crystal when chipped, the shadow crystals may also be shattered pieces of Dess. the way they show glimpses of the light world in the dark is because they were literally made out of a lightner)

now, i cant say much as to how deltarune will end, thats not something i much like theorizing about. but if this theory is true i imagine the end goal would be to reform Dess by reuniting the body with the voice. maybe it works and Dess can be brought back, or maybe shes simply been shattered too far and she can never come back. whos to say?

i really want to make a coherent theory post about shatterdess, because i do believe in that theory and ive yet to see anyone else propose it so im pretty sure if i want to spread it ill have to write it, but every time i try to get my thoughts together i just look like this. so unfortunately i dont know when ill be able to make a proper theory post about shatterdess

first off, context. this text was prompted when the number “1225” was entered into the chapter 4 thank you website

its a reference to the phrase “when you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail”. this phrase has nothing to do with violence. it essentially means “if you have a solution to one problem, you’ll want to apply that solution everywhere, even places where it doesnt fit”

in this case, the number 1225 is our “solution”. we want it to fit everywhere that could have a numerical value in this game. the use of this phrase is the writers way of saying that we’re barking up the wrong tree, that 1225 may be a solution to other things but not here

this has nothing to do with abuse. this is just Toby Fox trying to steer us away from the misconception that 1225 is the answer to everything
