Artisanal bows, crossbows and slings
The fact that crossbows aren’t in any other dragon age game implies they were a briefly popular Fereldan weapons fad.
“what’s your name son?”
“Crossbows.”
“Let me guess, you got that name ‘cause of your-”
“Crossbows.”
“-Crossbows, yeah… This place is pretty dangerous, though, what are you going to do if someone gets too close?”
“Crossbows.”
“Alright, but what if they’re too close to shoot and you can’t get away?”
flashes his dagger
“Alright then, got a name for that there blade of yours?”
“Crossbows.”
“…'Aite, not what I'dda called it but you seem to have your life pretty well figured out, take care.”
“Thanks, you too!”

Arrows/crossbows have only appeared twice (File 1027 case & File 1055 case). We have a total of 6 case appearances of Wakita (excluding when he never put on his disguise), so they aren’t appearing consistently enough to be of relevance I’d say. Would certainly be interesting to see crossbows being used in the main plot.
Ah, fantasy novels—the realm where swords glow in the dark, arrows never miss, and a simple dagger can have as much backstory as a royal lineage.
But when it comes to the assassin’s tools of the trade, let’s just say things get particularly… interesting.
These artisans of death employ an arsenal that is as varied as it is lethal, often with a touch of magical pizzazz to boot.
So, grab a cuppa,…

Crossbow string bit my thumb yesterday and I want to curl up in a dark corner till it stops hurting. But I got shit to do…
I’m trying something different with this one! If you’d like to see a longer edit with a little more nuance and extra demonstrations, you can find it here.
I’ll be posting more long videos to my Youtube when I can, because I’m trying to get them to officially recognise me as the originator of the videos!
But also, as always, there will be bonus tests and cut content on Patreon this week. Any support is greatly appreciated as it helps me make more videos!
This motion for summary judgment raises an interesting Curver/SurgiSil issue. The asserted design patent claims a design “for a crossbow rail.”
The defendant argues that a person of skill in the art would understand that to refer “to a specific component,” specifically, “the component of the crossbow that defines the flight groove of the arrow track.”
The plaintiff filed their opposition brief under seal and, to date, appears to have failed to file the required redacted version. But we can get some clues about what they argued from the defendant’s reply.
There are lots of interesting open questions here; it will be interesting to see what the court does with this.
