My PSA for a Healthy Colon (also known as “My Last Week.”)

Dear Readers, I’m of the age where I needed to get a colonoscopy, it’s a long story and other videos had to be rescheduled, but I’m hopeful to get back into the swing of things soon.

Suffice it to say that I’d recommend it to keep yourself safe and healthy, please consider this post my PSA about getting a colonoscopy, thanks to the comedy of the late Robin Williams.

Until next post, Dear…

A Complete Guide to Protecting Your Colon Health Through Early Screening

Maintaining good colon health is essential for overall well-being. Regular screening and professional medical guidance can help detect issues early and prevent serious complications. Consulting a qualified colonoscopy doctor in Singapore allows individuals to take proactive steps toward protecting their digestive health and reducing the risk of colorectal diseases.

Understanding the Role of Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is a medical procedure that enables doctors to examine the inner lining of the large intestine using a flexible tube equipped with a small camera. This advanced imaging method provides a clear view of the colon, helping specialists detect abnormalities such as inflammation, polyps, or early signs of colorectal cancer.

What makes this procedure particularly valuable is its dual purpose. In addition to identifying potential problems, doctors can remove polyps or collect tissue samples for further testing during the same procedure. This ability to diagnose and treat in one session makes colonoscopy one of the most effective tools for preventing serious colorectal conditions.

Who Should Consider Colon Screening?

Colonoscopies are recommended for several groups of individuals based on risk factors and symptoms.

Adults aged 50 and above are typically advised to undergo routine screening to detect early signs of colorectal cancer. People with a family history of colorectal diseases may require earlier or more frequent screening to ensure timely detection.

Individuals experiencing persistent gastrointestinal symptoms should also consider evaluation. These symptoms may include unexplained abdominal pain, rectal bleeding, chronic constipation, diarrhea, or sudden changes in bowel habits. In addition, patients who have previously had colon polyps or colorectal cancer often need regular follow-up screenings to monitor their colon health.

Preparing for the Procedure

Proper preparation plays an important role in ensuring a successful colonoscopy. Patients are usually asked to follow a clear liquid diet about 24 hours before the examination. This step helps empty the digestive system so the colon can be viewed clearly.

Doctors typically prescribe a bowel-cleansing solution that must be taken exactly as instructed. Some medications may need to be temporarily stopped before the procedure, depending on the patient’s health condition. Because sedation is commonly used, arranging transportation home after the procedure is also recommended.

Choosing the Right Specialist

Selecting an experienced medical professional is an important part of receiving effective care. Patients should look for doctors who have extensive training in colorectal procedures and a strong track record in performing colonoscopies.

Equally important is patient-centered care. A good specialist will take the time to explain the procedure, address concerns, and ensure the patient feels comfortable throughout the process. Comprehensive care should also include clear instructions before the procedure and proper follow-up afterward.

At Crest Surgical Practice, patients receive attentive and professional care focused on both comfort and accuracy. The clinic emphasizes personalized treatment plans to support each patient’s health needs.

What Happens During the Examination?

During the colonoscopy, patients are given sedation to help them relax and remain comfortable. The doctor then gently inserts a thin, flexible scope through the rectum to examine the colon. The camera transmits detailed images to a monitor, allowing the specialist to identify any abnormal areas.

If polyps or suspicious tissues are found, they can often be removed or biopsied immediately. After the procedure, patients typically rest for a short period before being discharged with aftercare instructions.

Recovery and Ongoing Care

Recovery from a colonoscopy is usually quick. Some patients may experience mild bloating or slight cramping due to air introduced during the examination, but these symptoms generally disappear within a few hours.

Doctors often recommend gradually returning to normal eating habits and monitoring for any unusual symptoms such as persistent bleeding. Follow-up screenings may be scheduled depending on the individual’s health history and risk factors.

With regular screening and proper medical guidance, individuals can significantly improve their chances of maintaining long-term colon health and preventing serious digestive conditions.

Forced together, Joe’s colon and Kyle’s penis made their first acquaintances, sniffing each other like dogs: the presumptuous penis smeared a few flakes of zesty dick cheese on the new companion, and in exchange the boypussy kindly coated the length of the happy boner with a thin, tangy butt butter.

“You’re the first penis to ever be jammed up my butt,” the trembling colon exclaimed with a squeal. “Uh, I feel sick.”

“You’re my first butt hole,” the penis blurted out, voice cracking. “Can I nut inside you?”

Possibly TMI, but Ryan had a colonoscopy this morning. Which meant that he had to be on an all liquid diet for Super Bowl Sunday lol Anyways, I took some notes and need to record them so when it eventually is my turn (ugh), I am mentally prepared. The procedure itself is actually really quick, but the prep for it and the HAND IV (they missed Ryan’s and had to do it again and it looked like it hurt so bad) are things I’m going to have to be ready for.

Things to be ready for:

  1. I can use my ADHD to my advantage during the liquid diet. I get so grumpy when I’m hungry, however, I will get myself a new videogame and/or Legos to help me focus on something other than the hunger. Yesterday, I spent a LOT of time in the kitchen and accidentally went without food for six hours after only having a breakfast smoothie. I can weaponize this to my advantage.
  2. Ryan actually ate significantly less of what I prepped for him. I will not have that luxury. I will need to prep at least a couple of different colors of jello, a couple of colors of gatorade, some bubbly waters, and some pre-filtered clear, tasty broths. Ryan said the broth was so nice after only having sweet stuff all day. I did not do a great job of prepping the broth because I thought it was any broth. It’s not. It needs to be clear. It can be tasty broth that was filtered though! I want to have enough for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and at least 3 separate snacks.
  3. The warm broth also helps with feeling cold. I already have issues with keeping warm if I haven’t eaten enough. This will get worse when there isn’t anything in my system. Ryan said he was cold last night and we cuddled before he went and camped out next to the bathroom. (It was nice warming him up for a change lol) If I sleep solo, extra blankets and a Nalgene of hot water will probably help me get good, if limited, sleep.
  4. Ryan camped out next to the bathroom. I think I’d probably also sleep solo so I don’t wake him up. He woke up a number of times to hit the bathroom and then had to wake up at 2:30 for an hour or so to take his second dose of the grossness. But I may sleep in the guest room and acquire an adult diaper for peace of mind. He said he had no issues making it to the bathroom, but after nearly shitting myself multiple times when we got norovirus, I like the idea of just not worrying about the possibility lol
  5. I’ll need to have a plan for managing the anxiety of the morning before they knock me out. That IV looked awful and I know that’s going to be the worst part for me. A Ryan hand, a squishy, a plush? Something to squeeze. I guess I could always request an anti-anxiety med too, potentially. Although, that didn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped for my IUD insertion. Anyways. Will need a plan of attack. And maybe a fun pair of new PJs or something lol

Wanted to write this out somewhere I can find it in the future. With how awful my gut is, I’ll be lucky if I can wait until 40 for a colonoscopy, ugh. But who knows what my new doctor and I will decide next week. I will be benefiting from Ryan’s colonoscopy news in that we’re both going to add more fiber and we’re probably getting a bidet. So possibly joining him in a couple of lifestyle changes will benefit me too. We’ll see!

(Good luck, future Katie! It won’t be worse than some of the stuff your gut has put you through, I promise! <3)

A Clear Path to Confident Colon Health Care

Your health journey often begins with listening to your body. Maybe you’ve felt unexplained abdominal discomfort, noticed changes in bowel habits, or you’re aware of a family history of colorectal conditions. These signs can raise questions—and it’s natural to feel uneasy about what comes next. With the right guidance, however, the process can feel structured, reassuring, and empowering.

This guide walks you through the colonoscopy journey step by step, helping you understand when it’s needed, how to prepare, what happens during the procedure, and how to recover comfortably afterward.

Who Should Consider a Colonoscopy?

A colonoscopy isn’t only for people with symptoms—it’s also a key preventive screening. You may benefit from one if you fall into any of these groups:

  • Adults aged 45–75 undergoing routine colorectal screening
  • Individuals with a family history of colorectal cancer or polyps
  • Those experiencing blood in stool, chronic abdominal pain, or bowel habit changes
  • Patients diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis
  • Anyone requiring follow-up after previous polyp or cancer removal
  • Health-conscious individuals prioritizing early detection

Even caregivers and family members can gain peace of mind by understanding the process in advance.

Preparing for the Procedure

Good preparation plays a major role in ensuring accurate results. A few simple steps can make the experience smoother:

  • Diet adjustments: Shift to low-fiber foods several days before
  • Clear liquids: Stick to water, broth, or clear juices 24 hours prior
  • Bowel preparation: Follow the prescribed solution carefully
  • Medication disclosure: Inform your doctor about any medications or supplements
  • Hydration: Drink enough fluids to stay comfortable

Proper preparation allows for clearer visibility, reduces procedure time, and improves diagnostic accuracy.

What Happens During the Colonoscopy?

The procedure itself is straightforward and typically lasts under an hour. Sedation helps you remain relaxed while a thin, flexible camera examines the colon lining. If polyps or abnormal tissue are found, they may be removed immediately for further evaluation.

Choosing an experienced colonoscopy specialist in Singapore ensures that the procedure is performed safely, efficiently, and with patient comfort as a priority.

Recovery and Aftercare

Recovery is usually quick and manageable:

  • Rest for the remainder of the day
  • Resume normal activities the following day
  • Review results and next steps with your specialist

Be sure to report any unusual symptoms such as persistent pain or bleeding, and follow dietary or medication instructions provided after the procedure.

Moving Forward with Confidence

Being proactive about colon health is a powerful decision. Early detection significantly improves outcomes, and knowledge removes much of the fear surrounding the process. With expert care from Crest Surgical Practice, patients receive both medical expertise and compassionate guidance throughout their journey.

Taking action today can protect your health for years to come—because peace of mind starts with informed care.

Well. They found a growth about the size of 2 golf balls smashed together. Doc said it looked cancerous and he sent it for biopsy. And he took a bunch of other biopsy’s as well.

So now I get to spend the next several days until the results come in freaking out. He also said that by removing the mass he most likely removed all the cancer and it won’t require anything more to be done.

He said that it was also most likely the cause of a lot of my current gi issues and removal should improve my symptoms. So upside, maybe not ulcerative colitis, downside, maybe cancer requiring further treatment.

So now I wait and see. And if I end up needing further treatment they will be in touch. All the stress. Ugh. Really wishing my doc took me seriously 2 years ago when this all started. It might not have been so huge or cancerous.

And I will have the results about ulcerative colitis at the same time so at least I won’t have to wait longer to know what’s going on. Not gonna lie, currently feeling scared to death.

HEY ALL YOU FUNKY PARTY PEOPLE!

GUESS WHO’S GONNA HAVE HER FIRST COLONOSCOPY

(hint: me)

It’s nothing serious. Your girl has an internal hemorrhoid that I am naming “Michael” after my dad (bc he was a pain in my ass when he was alive). MD is giving me some stuff to use, and if that doesn’t work, he’ll ref me to a colorectal surgeon.

The colonoscopy is two-fold:

  1. My grandpa died from colon cancer, and my mom keeps getting polyps fished out of her every five years (and is thankfully fine). So I asked him if being 37 was too early EVEN when they suggest going 10yrs earlier if you have a family history. He said it’s better to be a little early than too late. I get to take two days off work for it, so that’s cool.
  2. They wanna just make sure there’s nothing worse potentially going on that they cannot see.

tbh when he put the jelly in my ass, it felt better so idk what that was about…

Getting old sucks

A change from my usual bs posts on soc med…

PSA: IF YOU ARE 45 OR OLDER GET YOUR DANG COLONOCOPY.

Seriously. I had a friend die of colon cancer. Know someone who is slightly older than me that never got one and ended up with colon cancer that spread to his liver.

With that said, right before Thanksgiving I was hit with a diverticulitis flair. I knew I had the pockets in there already bc I had a colonoscopy in 2024. It just now decided to show it’s face. The point though, is I am still struggling with recovery and the bs that goes along with it.

I was home before Thanksgiving, but I wasn’t able to get rid of the infection. I honestly thought I was going to get sepsis and die as they couldn’t get the infection under control. They did and I was able to be “well” by Christmas.

But now, I am dealing with bladder issues (did you know that you can get a fistula - a hole connecting your bladder and your colon - from diverticulitis? And you poop out of your pee hole? That didn’t happen, but anyway…) and other rando immune flare ups like eczema and arthritis. For a week I couldn’t bend my knee it was so stiff.

So…for you Gen X folks…take care of your health. Get the tests you need done. Hopefully I will be completely recovered by spring.

Peace out.

Colonoscopy (Official Video) (2025)

Over the Labour Day long weekend (in 2025), PixVerse offered users free access to unlimited generations of their new v5 model. I had a few ideas to make a music video for this crazy song, so I took it as a sign to finally do it.

I spent 4 days generating images and cutting the video. Character consistency and lip syncing is still not where it needs to be, but I tried my best to use what I had generated, and cut around it when I could. Still, those dead eyes don’t help either!

This song is silly, but getting a colonoscopy is not. If you’re over the age of 45—or have a family history of colorectal cancer—talk to your doctor about scheduling one. The procedure is quick, it’s safe, and it can save your life!
