I’m not the best at explaining stuff but no issues! I’m gonna focus on Brook for this one.

First, THE BASIC SHAPES

I start with this cause I like to make a general doodle with the main pose of the characters.

Brook is a very thin and tall character, the best way to describe it is that he’s kind of like a long stick. The main shapes he has are rectangles with thin limbs, and the big afro on his head.

Understanding this you can play with his poses, I suggest that if you’re interested in him you check the manga and anime and use those as practice/references.

Another thing to understand is how Brook is as a character so you know how to make poses that fit him (Suggest watching the anime or clips of his story and moments if you don’t have that much time)

Then THE FACE AND HAIR

I’m not gonna get into how to draw skeletons in general cause that’s a WHOLE thing on its own, the face however is very unique with Brook (And the skeletons in one piece to be honest)

The most important thing with Brook’s face is to think of it as a 3D object, Brooks face doesn’t have almost any straight lines unless you simplify it A LOT and it’s in very specific poses.

Another thing is his hair, I don’t have an afro myself but from my understanding, it’s not static hair, has some volume and weight and can be affected by gravity a bit or if something is pushing it a little.

The important things are mostly the jaw shape, the afro and DON’T FORGET THE POSITION OF THE SCAR in some doodles I made that mistake, those are like the most iconic features in Brook.

Also suggest looking for LOTS OF REFERENCES, and practice the face features a lot. (Character sheets are PERFECT for those)

And for clothes I look at his wiki outfits for inspiration, don’t be shy putting other types of clothes in him though! He’s very versatile for clothing.
