I think of realism art as the 2nd floor of a building and we’re on the 1st floor; To arrive at realism we need to take steps to get there. Too many get frustrated because they try (and fail) with 1 great leap to land on realism. I recently demonstrated a technique for a good start to a drawing called a block-in. It involves restraint but it really pays off as you continue with your drawing! ✏ My subject here is a marble bust entitled “America” carved circa 1854 by Hiram Powers on display in the @metamericanwing
at the @metmuseum .
