Stumbling on this picture of me and my son bring so many memories.
This picture is from about 9 years ago.
This picture was on my graduation day from my GED.
I was pregnant of my son when I was taking train , bus to attend classes ( English as second language)
I have taken the classes for about a year and thought I was ready to take my EXAM but my INSTRUCTOR Taught I was not ready ( still wonders why but guess because I had an accent and difficulties articulating the words but deep within me I knew I was ready, I knew I was smart)
I told her with conviction I was ready and needed the school to refer me to the center so I can take my test, she refused and advice me if I wanted to go on my own and take the test I was free to do so but the school will not paid THE FEES FOR ME TAKING THE EXAM BECAUSE They NEED TO BE CONVINCED I AM READY BEFORE THE DO SO.
I then asked her for the center adress which she kindly gave it to me. I went to the center and took all the information needed, paid my fees for my exam on my own, got books, went home and prepare for the exam after a week went to the center and took my Exam.
Once my results came Back I have done amazingly great. The Results was then sent to the school , I had written an amazing Essay.
My TEACHER WHO TAUGHT I WAS NOT READY TOLD ME HOW DAMN PROUD SHE WAS OF ME AND WANTED ME TO COME SPEAK TO THE SCHOOL TO ENCOURAGE OTHER PEOPLE.
THIS journey has not been an easy one but my SELF DETERMINATION AND FAITH HAVE BROUGHT ME SO SO SO FAR.
