I just realized that I’ve been doing the WFH thing since 2012. Yeah, I had @telatelierph in 2015-2019 but the shop is like literally 52 steps from the building.

Now that I’m back home, I’m also back to my 2012 routine. But this time not for my own brand but as an employee! Fun!

Here are some tips from someone who has been hustling from home for at least a decade (ugh, I’m old!):

1. Take a bath and choose clothing you would wear to go to the office.

It makes a whole lot of difference for my mood. I work faster, and more efficiently. I’m more focused, and less insecure when I ideate. (👈🏼 still working on my self-esteem issues, couldn’t say confident 😅). You can also do your hair or put make up on depending on how you’re feeling or on your work load.

2. Have a designated work area.
Never take your work to bed. Avoid (when you can) doing work on the dining or living area. If you don’t have the privilege to have an area to call your work station, give a certain time of the day when you can call it your work space. A small portable table (like the ones they use for breakfast in bed) for easy transformation from living area to work area can help here, even when the only space available for you to work on, is the floor!

3. Have a work schedule. A weekly, and a daily one. And be strict about it. Tell your employer, as often times they might take advantage of your WFH situation.

4. Take breaks. Being home doesn’t mean you don’t need to catch some fresh air or give your brain and body rest. Breaks at home are so much better than breaks at the office. You can play with your pets, stare at your baby boy/girl, bond a bit with your children, vibe with your significant other, zoom break with your friends, catch some local chismis from Aling Charing (don’t forget to wear mask and your social distancing measures when you chika with your neighbor). The possibilities are endless! 😂

5. Lasty, if there are days when you just want to work wearing your pjs,(or naked 🙃), or when you can’t avoid or don’t have the luxury to separate your work from your home life because of things beyond your control, that’s ok too!!! YOU DO YOU!
