Goals with Soul
November brings about conversations around gratitude, and “giving thanks.” I am rigorous with practicing gratitude every.single.day, if not every hour, depending on where my mind is taking me that day. As it’s said, “gratitude is an attitude.” Whenever I need an attitude adjustment, I shift my perspective to showing appreciation for even having access to clean water (844 million people in the world still don’t) rather than focus on what I feel I’m missing, and that shift has the power to change everything.
Women I work with often come to me with
a sense of lack.
It could be they are comparing themselves to:
- A neighboring or book study colleague
- Random people on the internet who appear to have it all together
- A version of themselves they thought they’d be by this point in their life (bigger house, more money, more vacations, less time at work, better body, etc.).
Many of us have our relationship to ambition and goal setting inside out. This leads to a strong sense of lack, and gratitude can feel defeating.
We’re chasing external stuff we want to do, have, and experience. And we think that when we get there, we’ll feel amazing, and grateful we HAVE what we thought we WANTED. And yes, sometimes we do. But too often, we don’t. We’re in a vicious circle of striving for satisfaction. And even if we reach a goal, we’re onto the next thing that we think will help us feel a certain way.
I want to show you how to flip this switch.
Everything we do is driven by the desire to feel a certain way. Everything. You’re not chasing the goal itself, you’re chasing the feelings that you hope attaining that goal will give you.
Create your life with pure and powerful intention. Everything we do are our choices. Anger is a choice and so is abundance.
We can make choices that help us feel grounded and empowered.
