I went to the zoo and had the worst flare up of my life! I felt so bad for my little cousin and sister because they wanted to keep going but I just couldn’t and they didn’t have any more wheelchairs 🥲

We went to the zoo!

Our first family vacation ever!!!

On our trip i got to visit the zoo for the first time ever, it was so cool, monkeys glided from tree to tree as if they owned the place and there were so many exotic birds. After a good nights rest we went cave tubbing and ziplining for the first time. The trek was long and tiring but boy was it worth it! Ziplining was exhilarating yet terrifying, especially since i got stuck halfway.. which was an experience lol. The cave smelled wonderfully earthy and fresh. At one point we were told to turn off our headlamps and were engulfed into darkness. It felt heavy and quiet, almost suffocating but in a strangely comforting way, like your mother wrapping a blanket around your body as you sleep. Afterwords, we got to lazily float down the river as they tugged us along, I’m so glad that the river runs back to the starting point because there was absolutely no way i would’ve had enough energy to walk back. At the parking lot there was a ton of little stalls with a bunch of souvenirs, papa bought me a beautiful beaded bracelet in the shape of a hibiscus. I absolutely adore the craftsmanship and skill needed to make something so small and intricate. We finally made it back to Banana bank, where we were staying. It was so beautifully lush and homey, they even had a river passing through down the hill. The best part is that THEY EVEN HAD A JAGUAR, LIKE HOW COOL IS THAT! His name is TIKATOO and he was a rescue that the owners were fostering. And oh god was it cold in the mornings, but that still didn’t seem to stop the howler monkeys. It was petrifying listening to them, i felt like some serial killer was breathing down hard outside the mesh. I was honestly a little nervous at first, horses are a lot bigger up close than you expect, but once we started moving it was actually really peaceful. We cruised along a scenic path through the valley, surrounded by wide stretches of green and the quiet sounds of nature. Mama was especially brave and did really well riding, which made it even more fun. Later we chilled in the pool for a bit before heading to the little restaurant for dinner, where we had lasagna. It felt like the perfect way to end a long day. On our last day the owner of the inn invited us up to see her art studio at the top of this tower. It was so inspiring being there, the walls were covered with absolutely gorgeous paintings inspired by Belizean culture and wildlife. The ‘Ketch n’ Kill’ painting was my favourite. The composition and perspective were so well thought out i swear i could see the scene playing out as i gazed into the painting. There were also shelves full of the quirkiest teapots I’ve ever seen, i couldn’t even pick a favourite, like there was a sewing machine and even a granny cat shaped one. the shelves were also filled with vintage figurines, my absolute favourite was the 'Norman Rockwell self portrait figurine’. Every shelf looked as if it was straight out of an i-spy book. She also had a little nook in the corner where she made stained glass ornaments and paper collages. And she even had a bin filled to the rim with stickers!! Honestly, she’s #goals. In the adjoining room there were shelves lined with artifacts like arrowheads, statues and gems. Being there was so inspiring, i want to be just like her when i grow up, i will be the eccentric lady in a tower with my art everywhere and shelves lining the walls filled with my trinkets and stuffies. That’s also partially the reason why I’ve started collecting seashells, one day i want to display every seashell in the word, no matter the size or shape. My room will be lined with their little glimmering spirals and patterns! After we finished packing up we headed to our last stop before home, the natural springs. The water was freezing cold so i swam in the tiny pool instead. We tried going canoeing down the little river but i accidentally fell down into the mud. I did go canoeing in the end and it was pretty good. Eventually it was time to head home. Overall the trip was so much fun and it was a honestly needed refresher from the monotony of daily life.
