Wow thank you for showing this to me, I have never seen it before! You can make a separate post about it if you wish, and I’m sure many would love to see that too! Sadly I cannot tell which part his signature is haha ( is it at lower right?) , but I saw it before in a biography about him. Again, what a lovely find, I know it feels great when you can actually touch history, right? and thanks a lot!

Angel Food Cake. Very popular in the U. S. Is it elsewhere?

Here is the Custard Tart recipe he mentioned in the video:

Documentary about King Richard II while we’re at it…

Honestly though: Angel Food cake is delicious. Very very light. Like a cloud.

Not Yet Titled

Many thanks to @shredsandpatches for providing me with her brilliant works as enlightenments. This piece is inspired from one of them - considering the particularity of this work, I might not state the title but please have a guess if pleased to do so!

What beautiful day!

My lawnmower packed up last week. Halfway through its first cut of the year. Might finish it later today as ……
New mower arrived 😬

“This royal throne of kings
This sceptered isle
This earth of majesty
This seat of Mars
This other Eden, demi-paradise
This fortress built by Nature for herself Against infection and the hand of war
This happy breed of men
This little world
This precious stone set in the silver sea, which serves it in the office of a wall
Or as a moat defensive to a house, Against the envy of less happier lands

This blessed plot
This earth,
This realm,
This England.”

So proud that Bolingbroke was on his back! / That jade hath eat bread from my royal hand; / This hand hath made him proud with clapping him. / Would he not stumble? Would he not fall down,– / Since pride must hath a fall,– and break the neck / Of that proud man that did usurp his back?

“The blood of English shall manure the ground,

And future ages groan for this foul act.

Peace shall go sleep with Turks and infidels,

And in this seat of peace tumultuous wars

Shall kin with kin and kind with kind confound.

Disorder, horror, fear and mutiny

Shall here inhabit, and this land be called

The field of Golgotha and dead men’s skulls.”

“Then wither he goes, thither let me go.”

-Richard II (5.1.85)

Upon finding out that she will separated from Richard, Queen Isabella begs for them to be able to stay together, vowing that she will eternally mourn if not. I think it’s interesting that, at least in the Arden Shakespeare, Isabella is never named; she is only referred to as “Queen.” That word in itself holds an immeasurable amount of meaning; her devotion to Richard goes beyond marriage itself, but rather her undying dedication to him as the “rightful” king (at least in her mind). Beseeching that they are permitted to stay together is her final act of devotion and loyalty as his queen.
