It’s been eight years to the day since Catherine Cawood came stomping down a set of creaking wooden stairs and into Ann’s life. Eight years since, in a fit of desperation that proved she was stronger than she ever knew, she bodily dragged Catherine out of that same cellar begging her to live.
It’s fitting, in a way, that the start of the best days of her life should be heralded by the anniversary of the ending of the worst ones.
A work that’s been sitting in my drafts for six years now. Very few edits, as it’s been 5 years since I’ve seen the show and would hate to muck up their voices. A little exploration of what a confession might look like, and what the outcome might be. Full offense to that one episode where Ann called Catherine a goddess of truth because that scene started this rigamarole.
I found out while posting this that Ann is now dating [dolphin noises]. Thanks, i hate it!

She’s never done anything like this. Mai doesn’t do impulse, no spur of the moment hair changes or chasing whatever interest catches her eye. She doesn’t do it because there’s nothing in her heart reaching out for it.
There’s never been anything that she wanted to claim for herself. Everything up till Mai decided it was best for her to just be quiet was for her mother. Ballet, piano, academics. She’s done everything for her.
And it’s not her fault the last time she’s seen her ended in a fight, Mai’s normally dignified enough to not throw plates during dinner.
