Items have been fully remodelled, so weapons no longer look like they are bad minecraft mods, got item system sorted for ammo, health, weapon pickups and even keys for opening locked doors, soon enough it’ll be a proper quake-clone

A New Quake Trademark Has Been Filed, Should We Be Excited?
Right then, Zenimax Media has been spotted filing for a new trademark on the Quake name, which has understandably got some fans a bit excited.
This year also marks the 30th anniversary of the Quake franchise, which also makes this extra exciting as fans are hoping for some sort of announcement from Machine Games, who is also apparently working on a new Wolfenstein title.

On a positive note though, I recently became aware of the Quake Brutalist Jam III and downloaded it to play. No installation required, just an executable with a gorgeous level hub as the intro.
It’s a great time. The quake engine is pushed to its limits and every level is so gorgeous, lots of great interpretations of brutalist level design too. And of course, you get to shoot nail guns and rocket launchers, what’s not to love?
Give it a try if you have a need for a bunch of 15-20 minute experiences of admiring architecture and shooting the balls off of demons.

you’re woken up by the sound of boots hitting the floor, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
“you should be resting.” you mumble, sitting up in the chair, feeling the ache in your back from being slumped over.
[[MORE]]daisy just looks at you, a sigh of what sounds like relief passing her lips.
“i can take a loop.” she mutters under her breath, extending her hand to help you up.
“what?” your brows furrow, worried.
“i need you to trust me on this.” she runs a hand down her face.
“okayyy…what’s going on?” before she answers you, she leans forward, pressing a kiss to your lips.
“we’re stuck in a time loop, coulson and i are the only ones who remember the loops.” she explains, briefly but the urgency in her voice lets you know she doesn’t have time for further details.
“and you’re…taking a loop?” you question.
“yeah.” her hand runs down your arm, “in the last loop, you tried to help me. i watched you die.” she swallows hard, unable to meet your eyes.
“daisy.” you frown, cupping her face in your hands, “but i’m fine, see!” you make her meet your eyes, grinning at her.
“you’re not gonna remember any of this, but i don’t want you putting yourself in danger again. okay? i can’t keep watching you die.” her voice cracks and she wraps you in a hug, her face pressed into your shoulder.
you’re not sure what to say, so you just nod, pressing a kiss to her head.
“i will try my best.”
in a blink, you were back in the chair, daisy laying back on the table. the loop had reset, and you wouldn’t remember the conversation you just had.
daisy gets up, quieter this time, preparing for another loop, another attempt at saving the team from the time running out.

Honestly I think the Quake franchise should have become a full-on anthology after III, with each game focusing on one or more characters from that game’s roster of skins.
A game about Hunter and Sorlag where each has their own campaign with its own gameplay style (the former being faster-paced and more stealthy while the latter is slower but stronger) and unique enemies, ending with a boss-fight against the other character. Metroidvania starting Klesk (Klesktroidvania if you will). Getting a bit what-if here but ‘90s movement-shooter (which to my knowledge isn’t actually a thing) starring Slash and Anarki. Hell, even Orbb could have, like, a stealth game or something.

I beat Quake for the first time today. I previously was too much of a kid to get far enough, and that probably helped my memory of it; cause episode 4 and the final level both take quite the dip in quality. Full review here
