“Springtime in The Garden” …

The #garden is blooming with the brightness and fragrance of colorful yellow daffodils as a tiny yellow #bird perches atop the stone flower pot.

This was the scene March 12, 2024 … but with all the snow and cold temps we’ve had this year, I don’t expect to see my #daffodils anytime soon!!!

Digitally hand painted in #CorelPainter using one of my own photos (not from stock or public domain) as a starting point. (No Ai programs used.)

Please stop saying AI as it hasn’t been invented yet. Real AI can think for itself as for what’s out there now it has to have instructions given to it to perform an action. Without that instruction it won’t do anything unless it was programmed to perform specific task while idle.

DAYUM YOU FORESHORTENING!

Drawing.

Dont skip steps.

Ai is not your friend. Sentences and paragraphs put together with the incorrect phrasing /information - meaning is regional and localized.

In art, perspective painting will never work. Theres too much spatial information that only the human eye can choose based on desired option to input into any data base. Cameras dont do it. Photographer’s have to manually adjust a photo to imitate the realistic space and distance even with the best cameras. Half of the info is intangible so words never really describe it to comprehension without you having had the in person experience with it.

When you actually draw what you see you learn how much information is actually available. An artist is discerning which pieces of information to keep.

The options are infinite.

Decision making is a skill.

Im keeping mine. Expanding it. The process is arduous. The adjacent variables shift in real time; Their nuances suggestive testing ones ability to stay centered & unwavering predominance.

A little minimalistic artwork of Alexa and Chowder from My Life is Murder. Simple line art and colour. Used my favourite tool, the pentool, and paint brushes in Photopea.

*not just five years ago did we dare to caress the face of the machine

thrust life into the cogs watch the screws give in

metal and cold the body heats it warmer

destroy what we invent to please the loners

buy more and trash all —

smoother and rounder go full and thin

some like it ragid let the mind win

give it all it wants we can shape them

for you deepest desires we made it

Thomas Hunt: HWU Professor + Director Doll

I had so much fun with my Alex doll I made inspired by the AI doll trend, so I made a Hunt one to go with it. This is NOT Ai. I drew it in Photoshop.

Thomas is wearing his traditional tan tweed jacket (though I didn’t attempt the tweed, so just pretend), brown sweater, blue tie, jeans, brown loafers with brown socks.

For his accessories, he has his notebook, that he carries with him at all times to record ideas, a messenger bag, and then the script for Centaurus Lost, which Alex also has since they are working on it at the time.

This special edition doll features two facial expressions.

Anatomical heart drawing, class assignment. But before I added the labels.
Entirely traditional, first time shading with that smudge paper tool thingy.

(Professor allowed a bit of tracing because he knows that a bunch of us bio and biochem and pre-health majors have little to none art experience. Haha. He’s grading us on effort and understanding.)

I just had this YouTube ad that blatantly tells the audience to use their service to make books with their AI and publish them to Amazon. Frankly, I’m appalled. I will name and shame them with a link at the end of this rant, but I need to share why this is so bad.

These models, by their very nature, will not produce anything new on most subjects. They find trends and amalgamate them into an output. They can’t produce anything new to the conversation by this nature. As such, that company is only recommending the end user saturate the market with slop.

Screw it. After I record the videos for the week, I’ll make my own book. I won’t use any models and use methods that an AI can’t. I’ve been working with these models since before the ChatGPT craze, so I know exactly what they can and can’t do. I will also make it as long or as short as needed to fit the topic.

I will then use the same publishing methods with Amazon that they’re pushing at the lowest price possible that still allows a profit split unfavorable to Amazon (they’re part of the problem and free would just mean all ad money and traffic would go to them), thus out-pricing this slop. I will then post a link on both Twitter and Tumblr with a comment thread (Twitter) or a list as part of that post (Tumblr) to explain exactly why the models cannot recreate certain segments in their current state.

I did NOT get my master’s in computer science and help build knowledge of these systems just for this blatant misuse of these systems to flood the market. I did NOT work with these models for years just to help slop flood out the actual human creativity in this world.

I’m including hashtags to increase reach to ensure everyone knows how BS this truly is. I will also let you know when my book is all done. Be sure to self-advertise any of your books on sites like these using hashtags like #notAI and #notAIBooks to create a space with a reduced risk of slop pulling to the top.

Oh, and here’s the link to the site that started this rant. Don’t use them: https://www.publishing.com/
