The outer planets are surrounded by dozens of moons locked in thick shells of ice. Some of these frozen worlds, including Saturn’s moon Enceladus, are believed to contain vast oceans of liquid water trapped between their icy crust and rocky interiors. Because liquid water is essential for life as we know it, these moons rank among the most promising places in the solar system to search for…
Hidden oceans on icy moons may be boiling beneath the surface
An international team that included Southwest Research Institute has shown how complex organic molecules (COMs), considered essential chemical precursors to life, may have become part of Jupiter’s four largest moons as they formed. The results appear in companion papers published in The Planetary Science Journal and Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Together, the studies shed new…
Jupiter’s moons may have formed with the ingredients for life

The stump is burnt, but mostly intact.

The inside is dusty, you can see smoke stains across the inside, and the old bedding is crunchy, but would likely work in a pinch.
Owlkit pokes her little head in, looking around. “Smells stale.”

A distant breeze ruffles your fur. It smells fresh, and you open your mouth to get the fresh taste. It’s been what felt like an eternity since you’ve tasted fresh air. It feels good, warm. The wounds on your pelt from your death feel softened, cooled. It’s magical.
Speaking of magical, when will that Fluff-for-brains Skystar lead the kit over?

A set of starry pawprints appears, and a rather nervous looking kitten stumbles after them, eyes filled with concern.
She’s cute, for a kittypet.

I might’ve done this already, but it bears saying…
If you ever wondered about Lunar Worlds–consider this.
Ganyemede (Jupiter moon) and Titan (Saturn Moon) are both Larger than Mercury.
Callisto and Io (Jupiter moons) are larger than our Moon.
Europa (Jupiter) and Triton (Neptune) are larger than Pluto.
And the whole basic reason Pluto isn’t considered a full planet, is because if it was, we would have to consider our Moon a Planet, because our very Moon is drastically larger than Pluto.
… And if that’s the case.
What does that make Ganyemede, Titan, Callisto and Io?

On a fanciful drawing of the solar system an arrow points to the earth. Was lebt auf den Sternen? 1931.

Something in me vibrates to a dusky, dreamy smell of dying moons and shadows.

In Silvadax there are 4 moons. Each moon is tied to a domain of magic, and it causes the magic to be stronger the closer to the respective full moon.

From right to left, the Gleaming moon, the Fractured moon, the Blooming/Wilting moon, and the Corrupted moon
The gleaming moon is the smallest but brightest moon. It is tied to light magic.
The Fractured moon is tied to arcane magic (including necromancy/soul magic), It has a cycle where it opens and closes, and a regular moon cycle for it’s visibility. They don’t line up, so it can be visible in the sky while fractured or whole.
The Blooming & Wilting moon is the moon tied to nature and elemental magic. Including healing and necrotic spells. As it’s face is illuminated, plant growth spreads, and as it goes dark the plants fade. It is called the Blooming moon while waxing and t he Wilting moon while fading, and unlike the other moons this means the new moon causes necrotic spells to be stronger.
The Corrupted moon is the only non-natural moon. It is the banished form of the blood god Velska. It is tied to blood magic, and when it is full it causes a red mist to appear over the part of the world it is facing. Vampires and Blighted call it the Moon of Progress. (it also has a moon cycle but i didnt draw that because it just looks like a normal moon)
All the moons are tidally locked
