A studio headshot for new face model, Nancy, for her portfolio.
This image was from Nancy’s first studio photo shoot. A small fan gave us a little movement in the hair. We used a beauty dish for the main light, and a second flash provided the fill light. They were aligned almost directly with the center of her face to create clamshell lighting. The shadows on her face were set to be 2-stops less than the main light, and the light on the background was the spillover from the beauty dish.
All in all, it was textbook lighting for this kind of image allowing Nancy to relax and make this image.

We created this image while updating Salma’s modeling portfolio.
The late afternoon sun cast these lovely shadows through the fence, and the light had shifted to the hues of rose and pink. We added the simple wardrobe styling and Salma’s posing to the recipe, and this photo was the result.

A winter look with model, Cecilia, in San Francisco.
We were working on some new looks to update her portfolio, and used a building painted with the same hues as the look for the background. The afternoon sunlight was reflecting off a large building across the street. And, because the sun sits lower on the horizon for winter, we had mostly golden hour light all day long.
The faraway look of the pose was all hers.
