A brighter path, powered by the sun
In many rural parts of India, as the sun sets, streets fall silent. With limited electricity the day ends early — limiting mobility, human connections and safety, especially for girls and women in the public spaces.
Project Ujala is leveraging abundant sunshine as a sustainable power source by lighting up strategic community spaces, and busy streets by installing solar lights in over 250 villages across Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Uttarakhand.
The 1,000 solar lights are more than street lights — they’re providing a dependable, low-maintenance public lighting system that enables:
Girls and women to move freely and safely after sunset
Communities to remain connected after sunset
A greener, sustainable public lighting solution in remote areas
In places where the sun always shines, solar is not just a solution — it’s an opportunity.

I have made a donation to a local trans organisation, Aide aux Trans du Québec.

This donation is part of a movement started by Boreal Tempest and Roe Fizzlebeef (the very same from our yearly, beloved Roevember prompt lists!) in order to fight against the hate that has been directed towards members of the FFXIV development team following Dawntrail’s release and specifically the bigotry that has been targetted at Sena Bryer.

“Aide aux Trans du Québec (ATQ) supports trans, nonbinary, and questioning individuals. Our work contributes to demystifying transness, and our actions aim to enable gender-diverse people to participate increasingly fully and freely in their social, cultural, and economic lives.”

I encourage everyone to support their local (or international!) trans charities and organisation any way you can (even just spreading the word!), and support and love your trans friends and family.

I’ve been made aware of a particularly high amount of harassment and transphobia being directed at people in the FFXIV community lately, which is very unfortunate to say the least. I know we can be better as a community. But then I’ve also been made aware of this really sweet movement some people are doing called #LightTheWay and I definitely want to support that! At least in what little way I can. Never posted a donation screenshot before but here we go lol

have brought up the recent transphobic harassment of voice actor Sena Bryer over her role in the latest FFXIV expansion by asking people to make donations to Trans Lifeline with pictures of their Warrior of Light and the tags #LightTheWay and #FFXIV

I don’t have a lot of reach or friends over on that site but I have a little here so I thought I’d cross-post my contribution.

Every community, no matter how good, is going to have it’s share of bigots and assholes.

But we don’t have to let their voices be louder than ours.

twitter is so bad. but in retaliation, a few ppl have started a lovely movement urging to donate to organizations fighting back against bigotry. it is a twitter based hashtag but i wanted to post about it here as well, i think it’s a great idea and i hope others can join in if able 💛

What began as a conversation in October with City Hall regarding the possibility of lighting up a bridge in our public park, resulted in this display which we installed (thanks Amanda and Carl for your help!) in conjunction with a larger community initiative.

It has illuminated this section of the Pinafore trail for much of December and into January.

Public spaces are for everyone to enjoy and they sometimes need our support.
