Wiim Amp Ultra Review: The Streaming Amp That Finally Gets TV Right.

The Wiim Amp Ultra endeavors to resolve this concern, appealing to those seeking a bit more than just dependable functionality at an attractive cost. In this aspect, it swiftly proved its worth, delivering perceptibly clearer, more expansive stereo audio than the Amp Pro which has resided at the core of my living space for the past few months. The sound isn’t flawless, and it omits certain…

I like remembering little details from conversations

I like remembering little details from conversations.
Things like how someone prefers to be called, or interesting stories they share and their favorite songs etc….

Since I talk with people from many different countries, those conversations really stick with me.

But if I ever forget something, please tell me again!

Lastly, I want to thank everyone who talks to me.
Even if you’ve never talked to me before, I’d be happy if you felt free to talk to me about anything!

Annotating my experience?

Well, here we are and I forgot to submit my things yesterday. Howdy howdy. Let’s give a re-cap on last week’s work, shall we? Here you see two clips, taken from a 40 minute interview (I am still in the process of editing, hell to pay let me tell you). The interviewed that you are looking at is a man known as Russ Foxx. He is a body modification artist who lives in Vancouver, BC. Way back when I got some feedback from my peers explaining that it would be beneficial to perhaps interview some people, because it seems like my models and vision don’t really exist in our world. Spoiler alert, we sure do. I asked him questions that you can see below and he answered them all in a very insightful way for me. I didn’t want this interview to be about the work he does per-say, more about who he was as a man with horns and two tongues. His work too of course but you get the jist. My whole idea is to showcase non-normativity. Because it is just as beautiful, hot, sexy, as the rest of the shit we see. Excuse my language. Anyways, the clips you see attached to the interview is some of the work Foxx does. He does everything from piercing, scarification, tongue splitting, to suspension. You bloody name it. I think that someone like him is vital in my research for the sake that he is the embodiment of something that I know can create change in the industry. I mean for christ sake why are we still fighting for models with tattoos? Funny enough I had a kid in my last group who actually looked me dead in my eye. Directly. No blinking. Okay I can’t make this shit up. He said, and I quote, “I just don’t understand what this has to do with fashion…“. Do you feel what I feel? It’s not rage or anger, no no no. I feel that everyone in that room in that very moment felt exactly how I felt. Perhaps had a better understanding of why I am doing what I am doing for my thesis. This isn’t just about enhancing our bodies for our confidence and sexual pleasures (although don’t get me wrong, change your life), it is about seeing different people as something qualified for fashion. This is fucking fashion. This is Vogue. These people are not wearing expensive, fast fashion which someone designed on a whim. These people are ripping their skin off, splitting their muscles, & piercing their bones to forever be who they are. That’s fashion baby. (videos & photos posted in comments)

A Reflection?

Does that count as a reflection and an annotation? Well if it doesn’t, here’s a little more reflection. One thing I can say absolutely is how tedious editing is. I know it’s a tough one but even trying to edit this interview has been so challenging. I was never really taught videography & video editing throughout my time in university. But of course that’s what I decided to do for my thesis. Anyways, despite all of this it ultimately is helping me get a hang of the editing. I need to do more things like this so I feel more confident with my final. Everything else is so sweet to me, I love talking to people and asking them questions. I love making people feel comfortable and give them a space to express themselves, but now I have learnt the hard way that there are repercussions of being too chatty.

Academic Annotation

Kroker, A. (2012). Contingencies: Nietzsche in drag in the theater of Judith Butler. In Body drift: Butler, Hayles, Haraway (pp. 29-62). University of Minnesota Press.

The book Body Drift by Arthur Kroker absolutely exceeded my expectations. To keep this brief I will be annotating one chapter from this book called Contingencies: Nietzche in Drag in the theater of Judith Butler. For my work this week, it was insightful to see the different points of view that came from this chapter. Kroker took some of Butler’s work and broke it down. Which gave me some new view points, such as the fact that power is able to create what is normal and abnormal. Interesting right? Come to think of it what I am doing is also trying to break through the “normal”, but what this chapter explains is that without power it is hard to do such a thing. But this fact does help with my prior idea that the only reason why brands try to practice non-normativity is for financial reasons. To keep this short, I would like to really emphasize one thing. Kroker explains that we as people are obsessed with being subjected to norms. That gives us a sense of identity. Which I can agree is true, that is what all groups do whether it being the alternative folk or the non-alternative folk. But what I like to argue now with this information is that it does not constrain us like he says it does. Instead, once we take away the idea of power in aesthetics, then we do not have to indulge in this idea. But now I sit and wonder, how do we do such a thing? Thank you Mr. Kroker.

Aistijärjestelmän vastaanottaminen Input - reaktio Output

Tämän systeemin toimintaan voi hyvin pitkälti kiteyttää koko ihmisen toiminnan elämässä. Varsinaisesti tämä mallin “isä” Louie Gifford toi tämän kuvatessaan miten “kipujärjestelmä” toimii. Siinä yksinkertaisimmillaan saamme haavan sormeen keittiössä vihanneksia leikatessa. Tästä kudosvauriosta C-säikeet välittävät viestiä sähkökemiallisen prosessin kautta tämän tiedon selkäydintä pitkin isoille aivoille. Tämä in Input! Ihminen prosessoi nopeasti tilannetta: Onko vamma uhkaava/vaarallinen suhteessa aikaisempaan kokemukseeni? Kyllä! Tunnen kipua!

Tarkoittaako kudosvaurio aina kipua?

No tietysti ja pakollinen. Laitetaan asia yksinkertaiseksi.
