All these big box hardware stores, Home Depot, Lowes, have the same problem, having the outside garden area attached to the store that allows people to go in and out all day. It just makes sense that outside animals will take advantage of that open freedom to enter and exit. As I watch the birds that fly through the store I have a constant thought.
