i really like evidence that musicians engage with fanworks too:
-> like when they acknowledge that the song would be better if they just made it faster so they release a nightcore edit of their own song (EASYFUN - Be Your USA) instead of waiting for us to do it
-> or when they drop their own AMV (misogi - falseawakening/realitY shift) like he made that split and said, “i know this is AMV material.”
it’s so advanced. i looooove thinking about misogi staying up late watching AMVs. i looooove thinking about EASYFUN slipping some nightcore into his next DJ set. idk man. this is kind of just an “artists are people too” post but part of why i love electronic music THE MOST is how intensely self-referential it gets. an endless sea of auditory samples from every time and place since we had the technology to record. an often wordless lingua franca.
