“Hail Boreas, Fierce Protector, Father of Winged Horses.
You who know how to fight for those you love. Just as you sank the ships of enemies to save your allies,
Please blow away the obstacles in my path today.
Grant me your endurance to withstand the cold times. Grant me your voice to speak my truth without fear.
Do not let me be stagnant; shake me awake with your gale.
Stand with me, Lord of the North.
Blessed be.”
The Boreaia Festival
WHAT is it?
It’s a festival to honor Lord Boreas (the God of the North Wind/Winter)
WHEN was it held?
Winter time (when the cold north wind is strongest)
It’s probably around December/January
Today, people might celebrate it on the Winter Solstice or during the first big snowstorm
HOW did they celebrate?
We don’t have ALL the details, but likely:
- Pouring out drinks (wine, water, honey) as offerings
- Burning incense (pine, mint, or other “cold-smelling” scents)
- Praying to thank Boreas for protection
- Giving food (bread, grains, cakes)
HOW can modern people celebrate it?
1. Pick a day (Winter Solstice or a cold/windy day)
2. Make an offering:
- Pour out cold water or wine
- Burn pine or mint incense
- Leave out bread or winter fruits
3. Say a prayer thanking Boreas for protection or asking for strength during hard times
4. Do something kind (like donating to help people stay warm in winter)
【 Fresh bread, water/cold water, honey, wine, jewellerys, and wine (or grape juice) are already enough. You can also give an offering that reminds you of him! The altar is personal, and you can design it as you like 】
【 There is no need to give him expensive stuff. Those small offers are already enough, He will understand you. 】
【You don’t need to make the altar big or small. it is your choice. You can make it big or small if you want to. The Gods don’t really care about sizes, You also make it small and hide it if you have a religious or strict parents】
【The gods about your and your health】
