A 12-track album that bridges Chicago deep house tradition with modern R and B songwriting, crafted entirely by hand.
Amber Kori opens her new album with intention. “Buzz Me In” is not framed as a revivalist project, nor as a nostalgic detour into club history. Instead, Amber Kori positions the record as proof that Chicago deep house remains alive, evolving through artists who understand its roots and still trust their own hands to shape the sound.
Amber Kori is a songwriter, producer, arranger, ASCAP composer, and vocalist who builds her music from the ground up. Every detail on “Buzz Me In” is composed and arranged without AI tools or automated randomization. That choice matters. The album feels guided rather than generated, with each track reflecting deliberate structure and emotional pacing.
Across 12 songs, “Buzz Me In” explores different creative lanes while maintaining a cohesive tone. Some tracks lean toward classic deep house textures, built on warm basslines and steady drum programming that nod to the legacy of Chicago architects like Larry Heard. Others drift closer to contemporary R and B, with vocal arrangements that recall the intimacy and grounded soulfulness associated with artists such as Meshell Ndegeocello. The result is not a hybrid for the sake of genre fusion, but a careful negotiation between dancefloor pulse and singer-songwriter clarity.
