Character: Was once a friend of Koda’s when they were tots, though Cyrus moved away when he was still little, and finds Koda again by chance. Friendly, silly, and far more perceptive than people initially think. Cyrus has a knack for reading others and can almost always tell how someone is feeling, even if he has never seen them before. While he is cowardly, he manages to stay hyper-empathetic and supportive for those he’s close to.

Our second Bible study today comes from Isaiah 44. Isaiah 44 opened with the LORD’s assurance that He loved Israel and they were His people.
The LORD reminded Israel that He created and called them as His people to serve Him (Isaiah 44:21). He assured them He would not forget His covenant with them (Isaiah 44:21c).
Isaiah’s prophecies continue with today’s Scripture reading, Isaiah 41-42. In Isaiah 41, God calls the nations of the earth to judgment and addresses the foolishness of idolatry.
With lifeless idols as the backdrop, Isaiah 42 begins with the words, “Behold my servant” (Isaiah 42:1) and ends with the LORD addressing the sinful nature of Judah and His people (Isaiah 42:18-25).
There have been poems, songs, stories told about the moon. This beautiful thing that has been romanticized for centuries. Cyrus has heard many stories and songs, read the poems, but he didn’t really understand the full meaning of loving the moon until he met Crescent.
Crescent was meant to be the star of the show. She was the first character Fiona ever drew, hoping she’d be the next “little darling” character that everyone loved, like Betty Boop, Alice Angel, or Minnie Mouse. But the other producers and animators didn’t think this sleepy moon who couldn’t even talk would be very good for the show and rejected her. They made Cyrus the star instead. The typical silly and curious sunshine (literally) character that was trending and everyone enjoyed.
Fiona has changed Crescent’s appearance to see if she could make her more appealing to what her team was looking for. Curly hair, big earrings, cloaks, pretty dresses, straight hair, big doe eyes, anything.
Rejected.
The animation team hated the idea of a mute character. Hated the idea of having to draw sign language, frame by frame, and accurately. Despite Fiona coming up with plenty of ideas on how Cresent can communicate besides sign language, they still hated it. Producers saw no potential.
This went on over the years. After Cyrus and the gang were created, after the show took off. Fiona found ways to include Crescent. Some episodes where she was a background character or had a few moments of screentime with the main characters. Anything in hopes to get Fiona to drop it.
It only pushed her to keep going.
For three years, Fiona did everything she could think of.
She wasn’t giving up on any of her characters, especially not Crescent. Crescent’s design, her character, has been with Fiona since her college days, when she first started her path to becoming a graphic designer and producer. She was her inspiration, her muse, her creation. Crescent had been with her for a long, long time and she was going to make sure she got her chance to shine.
She added Crescent to posters, merch, plushies, comics, anything. People were falling in love with this character already and being disappointed when they saw just how little she was in the actual show. Some grew angry, claiming fake advertisements. Others wrote, begging the character be added. And yet, the producers wouldn’t budge.
And then, the final push. Edwin, after hearing and witnessing his wife’s struggles to give her beloved character life, decided to begin construction on a Crescent animatronic. And once she was complete, she’d join the others at Playcare.
Oh, Fiona was ecstatic, buzzing with joy.
They had no choice but to add Crescent to the show.
…
Views skyrocketed. For nearly a year, thousands of fan letters came in, most from young children and those with disabilities, expressing their love for the character. It was rare to see a character with a disability, to see one act like a normal person and not dumbed down because of it.
They loved her.
Fiona wore a ‘told you so’ smirk for a couple months afterward.
During that year, the year that Crescent finally stepped into the spotlight and joined the main gang, Edwin worked and worked on perfecting her animatronic design. And once she was finished, it was time to introduce her to the others at Playcare.

Four years ago:
“Oh gosh, I’m so nervous,” Paula said, hurriedly fixing her hair as she paced back and forth, “Do I look ok? Should I have changed into something nicer? Should I do something different with my hair?”
“Oi, Menina, chill,” Metronome stopped her in her tracks, “Deep breaths. In. Out.”
Paula followed his lead as he guided her through breathing exercises until she’d calmed down.
“I don’t know why I’m so nervous. I shouldn’t be.”
“I mean, it’s not every day that we get a new member of the crew, especially one that’s been so hyped up,” Metronome said.
“I’m just glad it’s happening,” Celeste scoffed, “All that construction by my theater was horrendous, all that awful noise interrupted my performances.”
“Well, I for one am excited,” Cyrus chimed in, “The Daycare was a long awaited and much needed addition to the facility. And so is Crescent.”
“I don’t see what all the fuss is about. For the past year, all I heard was Crescent this, Crescent that. God, it was so infuriating,” Celeste complained.
“I’m sure it’s just the popularity. Crescent is currently the newest craze and it’ll be like that for a while,” Cyrus said, patting Celeste’s shoulder, “It’s like that for a lot of new things. You’re still our favorite star.”
An odd but satisfied sparkle shone in Celeste’s teal eyes at Cyrus’s compliment, and she smiled happily, a light teal hue on her cheeks.
“You’re absolutely correct. I’m the brightest star here.”
Their conversation continued to small talk as they waited in the main lobby, which didn’t last long as Mr. Murray walked in, cane in hand, with an animatronic following behind him.
And, oh, did Cyrus finally understand the meaning of loving the moon. Now did he understand why they wrote songs and poems and stories about the beautiful moon and why so many people have fallen in love with it. None of them compared to the Moon that stood before him.
Crescent stood off to the side, hands neatly folded in front of her as her golden eyes scanned the group in front of her as Mr. Murray introduced her to everyone.
He’s seen Crescent before in the cartoons and posters and everything but they didn’t hold a candle to the real thing. Soft lace and blue satin, twinkling of bells as she waved hello or shifted nervously between her feet, navy blue hair that draped past her shoulders and bangs that covered her left eye which she kept brushing away and kept falling back into place.
He could faintly hear a whirring sound and it took him a minute to realize that it was coming from him.
And then… Her gaze finally met his and he swore he felt a flutter in his chest as she smiled softly at him. His fans picked up speed for a split second and it suddenly got warmer and brighter in the room.
“I’m sorry that I can’t show you around, Crescent, but I’m sure your new friends here will gladly do so in my place.”
Cyrus realized that he hadn’t heard a single word Mr. Murray had said until now, as he was bidding them farewell. He missed the knowing look and smile Mr. Murray sent his way before taking his leave. He missed the squeals Paula tried so hard to contain and the smirk Metronome gave him. He missed the dangerous daggers Celeste was shooting at his back as he stepped forward, extending his hand towards the newcomer.
“I-I’m Cyrus,” He stuttered, “Welcome to Playcare.”
Crescent smiled, taking the offered hand and Cyrus felt like he was going to combust right then and there at the touch. He didn’t realize how long he just stood there staring into those golden eyes until Metronome couched loudly and swung an arm around his shoulders.
“Let’s show Menina Lua around, yeah?”
“Oh! Right! Yes, right!” Cyrus fumbled with his words, “Right this way.”
Without letting go of her hand, he began to lead Crescent through Playcare, showing her everything about her new home.

Present day: May 15th XXXX
Cyrus sat on the floor in the center of his office, tugging painfully at his rays and face as more tears slid down his already wet cheeks. Just sat in the dark, the only light coming from the dim string lights and the crack under the door. All around him were photographs of his beloved moon, letters, poems he had written, blueprints and maps of a building he knew by heart. Not too far from him was a broken vase and scattered white camellias and daisies with wilting petals and a dark stain where the water had already soaked into the carpet.
He searched. He had searched the entire building. Every nook, every cranny, every maintenance tunnel, vent, closet, secret room he could find. And nothing. No sign of his beloved.
“Where is she? Where is she? Where is she?”
As if repeating the question over and over, louder each time he said it, would give him the answer he needed.
Crescent disappeared a week ago. On May 7th. She had a performance with Metronome for a birthday party. The party ran longer than expected and she had texted that she’d be late for dinner to which he said was fine.
He shouldn’t have done that. He should’ve gone to find her. He should’ve found her and stayed with her.
She waved goodbye to Metronome, passed Paula on her way back to their room to change, and then… no one saw her after that. The cameras have been glitching lately. So one minute, Crescent could be seen, perfectly fine, heading to their room. Then the camera feed glitches and she’s gone. Just gone.
Cyrus nearly ripped the monitor off the desk when he first looked through the feed, yelling at the screen like it betrayed him. In a way, it had.
So many scenarios ran through his head. Was she kidnapped? Did someone take her? She couldn’t scream for help or alert anyone of what was happening. No one would even know what had happened. What would they want with her? Ransom? For parts? One of those creeps that didn’t take no for an answer?
Was she hurt? Was she somewhere out there injured and possibly dying? Was she already dead because no one found her yet?
Did she-
“No! She wouldn’t leave! She promised! She would never do that! And she’s not dead!”
He tugged harder at his rays, nearly tearing the floppy silicone.
“She’s ok. I’ll find her and it’ll all be ok.”
…
“I’ll find her.”
I was going to upload the video straight from TikTok but since it has a song in it Idk If I Can Do That Here.
Anyway, here it is. THE Redguard edit of all time.
“Hmm… I think it’s two, almost three, years now, right?”
*nods and raises her hands to sign* ‘It’ll be three years on May 20th’
“Gotta make plans for our anniversary.”
'Just don’t go overboard. You nearly caught yourself on fire last year lighting fireworks’
“I’ve learned my lesson, besides, I have something much better planned.”
*lovingly rolls her eyes and smiles*
