I think open endings in films can be really great! I’m of the mind to take whatever you want from films, we all have our perceptions and understanding of things in life differently, so I can definitely appreciate a form of media not strictly telling us what to think or feel. On the flip side, however, I totally get if a film ending may be unsatisfying because you kind of WERE looking for a more concrete answer.
I really loved The Graduate for this because I felt it ended with a good mixture of ambiguity and answers. We kind of were given enough to draw our conclusions, but there definitely was enough to leave you pondering.

Ambiguine sounds like it’s the right term, that it’s a gender that is ambiguous - just like androgyne is a gender that is androgynous. The suffix for ambiguine sounds like that would make it a gender quality, but it’s definitely a gender.
Ambigue is a broader term for a gender that can include ambiguity as well as other qualities.

Ambix is the only other one I’m aware of. Ambigender also described as an ambiguous gender, but it’s specifically a multigender identity.
There aren’t many out there that I can find! A lot of my go-to Wiki sites lack a category for ambiguous genders so it’s hard to find specific terms.
