Ballz The Director’s Cut - Console Fighting Games of 1995
Ballz The Director’s Cut is an enhanced 1995 3DO version of the quirky 3D fighter Ballz 3D: Fighting at its Ballziest. Developed by PF Magic, it features fighters entirely made of spheres, giving the game its distinctive comedic, polygonal look. Players battle through a roster of ball‑based characters, then face a series of unique bosses including a tyrannosaurus, kangaroo, scorpion, ostrich, and bull — each with its own attack patterns and weak points. The game supports 1–2 players, offering both one‑on‑one and free‑for‑all modes, and stands out as one of the 3DO’s more unusual and memorable exclusives.

Bring back the dumbest cartoon (with the most revolutionary concept) of 1993
Apparently today (Sunday) is the day to discuss my favorite cartoons. Boy howdy, I loved that cartoon. My introduction to it was highly unorthodox; a segment of one episode (Door Jam) was excerpted on a demo disc that came bundled with my then-brand-new and newly-released Panasonic 3DO (FZ-1). I was captivated by the video playback (off a CD! My ignorance was on account of not knowing about the then-emergent VCD formats in Japan), but I really dug the ludicrous characters and over-the-top reactions.
Sorta: come for the novelty format, stay for content.

“What did you get for Black Friday?”
“Oh, I got another console.”
“Which one? PS5? Switch 2?”
“Well, uh…. not exactly”

Behold! A 3DO
Welcome back readers, fellow geeks and electronic gaming fans!
In this edition of the Retro Gaming Ads Blast (RGAB) series, we will take a look at another batch of retro gaming print ads – including arcade flyers – from the 1970s to the 1990s.
For the newcomers reading this, Retro Gaming Ads Blast (RGAB) looks back at the many print ads of games (console, arcade, computer and handheld) that…

You won’t believe it, but my favorite game is the fourth one. Amazing. So magical. And so unusual and new. Lots of experimentation. And a completely new graphic style. I loved it all.
[[MORE]]I have the fourth game in GOG. And at the same time, I revived my GOG account. I played a little. Started playing. Watched the intro. A new world. We’re playing in a new world. In a past world. Something irreparable has happened. Two heroes. Crossed their magic swords. And that was a thing, that never should have happen. The world was destroyed. Fire. Explosion. Cataclysms. Everyone had to leave for a new world.

And here’s the new game – a new world. Just like in the final fantasy. I started playing the campaign. As usual – there are a lot of them. Right away, the first mission. I set the level to the easiest. And then they give me a lot of castles. I’m remembering how to play.
Very beautiful graphics. Such fantasy graphics. The game is visually very good. And new game themes and mechanics. Everything is truly new. I’m still riding these horses. Gaining experience. Immersing myself in the fantasy world.

I’m building structures in the city. Yes, you have to choose what to build. One or the other. And it’s like that every time. Like in the game Disciples 2. A popular game back then. I like the way the city screen looks. It’s somehow very unique. The fourth part has an interesting style in everything. New creatures. All the models are new. And on the battlefield, the hero can now walk too! And they can beat him up!
Here we have a human castle. And what’s interesting is that there are several cities at once. Three. And many heroes. Three. One of them is kind of the main one. And with all these characters, we walk around and explore the world. Very colorful and beautiful. All the cities need to be rebuilt. There’s a lot to do. Right away.

The first battles. I already beat someone with a sword there. Although there was a risk. There was a risk that my hero would get beaten too. Although the heroes are strong. But not immortal.
I prefer playing games like reading a fantasy book. Beautiful. With pictures. And a captivating plot. Not as a competitive game, but as a work of art.
Everything is so yellow here. Such a color. Like the color of paper. Like the color of the sun. The game’s design is vibrant. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like this in any other fantasy series!

I’m trying to evenly develop the three cities. Although I clearly emphasize the city with the main character. I build it first. And somehow it pulls ahead in development. I begin exploring the magic map. Adventure. A whole world. Magic. That’s what it is! Horses roam the map. Let’s see what’s there. Everything here is so magical and beautiful!
For now, I’m more like an explorer, launching the game. I’ll probably restart the mission. So I can start playing more normally. For now, I’m just trying to remember what’s here and how. Do some reconnaissance.

More like an inquisitive artist, I guess. I’m such a kind reader. I’m just walking around and seeing where my horses can go. I’m wondering what kind of house I should visit. It’s interesting to spend some time on that.

I visited this circular artifact. I chose experience. I chose some skills. There are a lot of them. I’m just reminiscing about the game. I’m mastering them. Luck in Battle is a hero skill. It’s useful, of course. There are all sorts of buildings, like the sawmill. The game map is very beautiful. You just want to wander around and explore everything. I really like this part for its unusual, yet fantasy-like style. Everything is so different here. I really like it! So far, I’ve just launched it for a quick introduction! Admire the scenery! The most beautiful fantasy world is here. Yellow as the sun. It really sets the mood.

Playing little games. From time to time i like to play videogames. And write about it.
Dima Link is making retro videogames, apps, a little of music, write stories, and some retro more.

Never heard of it before, but it looks great.

Believe-it-or-not, in all these years on Tumblr I’ve only ever GIF’d *one* 3DO game, and it’s Furopon World.

11/05/25: Part 3 of a nice day of Wednesday finds! I always give advice to people to check PC games for other different consoles mixed in with them. And today I almost didn’t follow my own advice. Its a good thing I checked before taking off to the next stall. Buried under all these PC games, I saw some 3d0 games! You know your boy had to get them! The boxes look pretty bad, but the games in them were fine. I scrounged around here and in other places hoping to find more, but all I found was a copy without its cardboard case but with a second game inside, and a 3d0 User manual. I asked the guy how much, and since they came from that PC pile, he said $3.00 each. No problem! I paid the guy and now I have more of these rarer 90s games. And then in two other places, I found a transformers toy for a dollar and an animal crossing cat for $3.00. I was still happy and giddy with my games find. It makes me wonder if the seller had sold a console earlier in the morning? Maybe he’ll be back next week with one? That would be great!
