Mac OS? Yeah, it runs Quake 2.

Ported over by Logicware, this version of Quake 2 required Mac OS 9, and this time it doesn’t really have any charming Macintosh-specific eccentricities. It’s more or less identical to the Windows version. Was a bit of work to get playing nice with SheepShaver though, so I’m still posting a screenshot!

An official OSX port was released in 1999 by OmniGroup as a free download for owners of the PC version.

The 3DO? Yeah, it runs Wolfenstein 3D.

The polar opposite of the woeful Doom port, Wolf is gloriously fast, is based off the high-res Mac version, includes all the Mac and PC maps, and features a new CD audio soundtrack. Most impressive!

Here’s some video footage from the actual console, courtesy of elbryan42.

The 3DO? Yeah, it runs Doom… to an extent.

This port is the pits. The framerate issues are at epidemic levels, forcing you to lower the screen size to squint-o-vision™ in order to render the game playable… and the two biggest screen-sizes are hidden behind cheatcodes!

The soundtrack remixes are pretty great, though, so its not a complete loss.
