working on commissions at this slower rate is weird. only being able to draw for an hour or so at a time and needing to take breaks has been frustrating and I feel bad for folks who have been waiting. my regular turnaround time for art finishing in under a week ‘aint happening until i rebuild my stamina.

something happened earlier this month that re-fucked my entire body tension and my anxiety went into overdrive and i almost had a mental health relapse (being vague on purpose).. gonna be re-prescribed benzos to take in an emergency in case this happens again.

had three rounds of massage to loosen the knots in my shoulders and neck and then multiple days of not doing anything to heal. back to drawing slowly, but my hands and general dexterity have been shaky. thanks for being patient with me, i’ve got 2 more commissions in my queue.

Incredibly violent take of mine but I actually don’t think you need to relate to a story in any way to enjoy it. You can enjoy a story even if you can’t point at a character and insert some aspect of your personality or identity into them. In fact I would argue the need for a character like that to be present in every single story you experience is a sign of stunted growth.

i really enjoy looking at niche fetish-y NSFW works. they do not titillate me at all, a lot of it might slightly disturb me or be something that isn’t remotely in my wheelhouse, but i enjoy the intent and the desire put into drawing by the person. even “bad” art where you can totally tell someone is drawing with their boner out and about or the anatomy is a little fucked up, or they can only draw the same pose over and over but with different fictional characters.

there’s something just so fun about knowing someone out there has an uncontrollable enjoyment for a specific brand of marmalade, or six armed centaur women, or that one scene in a children’s cartoon where a character turns into a teapot and someone is dedicating their entire ability to draw these things and share them to the world

you just gotta admire the effort put into carefully rendered latex, or werehorse transformations, or drooly toothy mouths, or extreme body modification and whenever i come across it i hafta look at it and absorb the love and dedication of a stranger with a very specific desire

re-watched kung fu panda 3 last night… there’s a scene where po is taking a bath and he mistakes a container of chili pepper powder for bath salts and freaks out from the burning heat

but… its really weird that the english dialogue calls the thing he puts in his bath “szechuan peppercorns” because the picture on the container looks nothing like a szechuan pepper……. and szechuan pepper isnt remotely spicy!

it’s got a numbing sensation in your mouth, and it can make you salivate an ungodly amount, and i dont think ive ever seen it depicted as a fine red powder before

mandarin translation calls it ‘spicy pepper powder’ which is way more correct and makes the joke land better.

i dont have anything interesting to say other than the weird impotent way the movie tried to use a cultural spice appropriate for the country of origin, only for the joke to not actually make any fucking sense
