The Strange Rise of Virtual Shrimp Pets

On some online platforms, people are raising virtual shrimp.

Quick Peek: drawing allybeasts!!!

Got tired of staring at the wall of code so I decided to squeeze in making the bases for allybeasts (companion/helper animals in my web game project)!! They are called Lagi, N'iiri, Merritt, and Varen! I feel like the underrated part of working on a big website is being able to switch gears and work on something else whenever I get too sick of one thing, for me it really helps with avoiding burnout.

I got carried away though and decided to make them modular, that way each species will have a couple features that can be randomized like horns, ears, tails, etc! (Mainly bc I couldn’t choose between a single design for each species, and so I can collect them all later when I get to play my webgame >:3c)

I’m thinking they will have 4~5 of these options each, and I’ll give them base colors and coat patterns/colors like the Eidola, just on a much smaller scale. I’m also seriously debating if I should make them some simple clothing/accessory options, just because I feel like we should have more games where you get to dress up funny little critters (also because my love for sims 4 pet clothing is eternal)

I got started on the line art for a few of them so far! I’ll go back and finish the rest once I’m done with work today more than likely. tbh line art still kinda makes me nervous because I feel like I’m still getting used to the “drawing-on-tablet” hand-eye coordination. The best part about digital art is being anxious about digital art and then my hands getting shaky and the lines getting wiggly :))) B u t ! ! I still feel like my digital art improved a lot over time and I’m really hoping it’ll keep getting better and better as I work on the project!

(Slightly related, while I was drawing my partner came over and was like “I can tell you were a warrior cats kid growing up” and 1. ty for seeing my vision and 2. haha how could you ever possibly tell i wonder what gave it away????)

Cooking Right Now: coat patterns and colors!!!

BEHOLD PERRY THE PLATYPUS,,,, MY EIDOLANATOR™!!!!!

I actually cobbled together this dubious machine about half a year ago when I had 30 or so colors and 8 coat patterns for all the Eidola, so it’s a bit outdated for now lol. At first it started out as a way to make a sort of comprehensive reference for all the NPC art I was gonna have to draw eventually, but then I ended up tweaking some things about the planned gameplay mechanics, so after I make it look pretty it’s actually going to be used in the website as a way to create your player character!

I thought I was pretty much finished with all the Eidola bases/patterns/colors/etc at the time, but the more I stared at them while working on the character creator (The Characterinator™, if you will  ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) the more I kept thinking some of the bases could be improved… I also just decided that I wanted a few more color and pattern options lol. So I ended up going back and making a whole lot of changes over like, the course of a month or so? And now we have 36 colors and 10 coat patterns! (rip my laptop storage space bc wdym i have 7598 pngs just for color/patterns i havent even exported all the clothing/accessory items W H A T)

So!! Right now my main goal is really to update all my old variables and data with the new bases/colors/patterns. Sounds pretty good, right? Just some image replacements and new data… Except I forgot to update the hard-copy of my database for production while working on the character creator LOL and now I have literally thousands of entries to update… We may be stuck here for a bit ahahahakfjhwlkfjkw

Once I’m done though, the character creator should be updated and fully operational again!! Maybe I could find a way to actually host this somewhere so that other people can give it a whirl??

Afterwards it’ll be back to work on making all the icon pngs for furniture/wall decor/light fixture items! I should be able to use that with the code I have cooking on the backburner to make a popup system for placing furniture and wallpapers in the guildhouse. I’m kinda hoping I can get back to working on all that by this weekend but idk if my job is gonna make me come in on Saturday ;_;

Second Life Exploration - Luanes World - A Beautiful Garden? A Place to Live? All The Above

I always loved art pieces from Da Vinci to Monet and everything above and beyond. Art is a beautiful creative tool for self expression. What if I could tell you that there is a world you can experience within Second Life the is almost like an art piece that came to life? That would be the best way to explain what Luanes World is and what it compares too. There is so much this sim has to offer everyone, including it’s residents.

Scenery:

When I say the scenery is exquisite, I mean I felt like I was not just transported into an art piece but a gorgeous new world. The scenic views are absolutely stunning and so realistic. When I think Romanticism I think this sim. So many creative thoughts and new ideas for poems started coming through as I was exploring. I think it’s safe to say I found another new favorite place I want to visit over and over again. I felt like I could just stand or sit on the bridges or in a row boat on the water and just write on my second monitor. It really brough peace to me, I felt as peace while I was here and I honestly, can’t say that about every place I’ve been. I’ve been to quite a few gardens on Second Life and this is one of my all time favorites by far.

Who Might This Sim be For?

Planning your next romantic date? Trying to wine and dine? Attempting to make that special someone to fall in love? This is the perfect place to sit and talk and get to learn about one another. The views will strike up some interesting conversations. There are so many places to cuddle, sit, and explore. There is even a walking path into a residential area which I will explain more about here soon. I feel this sim would be perfect for the following:

1. Creatives - If you have writers block or you feel your creative flow hasn’t been flowing, come here it is perfect and unblocked my writers block at least almost immediately.
2. Romantic Dates - Looking to be seen as a lady or gentleman? The best date planner? This would be a great place to bring that special someone.
3. Photography - If you love taking photos of your avatar or love taking photos in general, there are so many places to pose and so many areas where you can take photos it is a beautiful place for that. These views and poses are 100% Instagram worthy. I know some of you are on Instagram haha.
4. Explorers and Travelers who like more of a calm relaxing nature vibe.

Residential Area:

I think this is even cooler, there is an entire residential area here and there is actually a path you can take by horse to explore all throughout the residential area and back to the main starting point (the gorgeous garden you see throughout the photos). You can rent out private estates, parcels, and homes and live in this beautiful place. You have full access to all the grounds and you live in such a beautiful area. Keep in mind this is a lot different then owning land as you a renting from someone and not owning mainland or renting a sim. But if you’re looking for a nicely decorated area to live on Second Life this might be a great choice for you. The land is hard to come by with a waitlist and it highly sought after to live here and honestly? Who could blame them. If there are no parcels available when you visit you can contact Luane Meo or Gorba McMahon to be placed on a waiting list so when a parcel becomes available you are able to move in. The residential area has some rules to keep everything up to par in terms of style and matching the sim and its design. There is more then just a garden there is a “Teleport HUB” when you first land and you can go to the following places:

1. Le Monde Perdu - Realistic landscapes according to the seasons
2. The Magical World - Enchanted and Fantasy designed land
3. Luanes Estates - Where you can check on land rentals
4. Pose Store - Where you can buy singles and couples poses

There is a lot that this sim offers and so much to explore, discover, and take in. One of the most amazing things about Second Life are the experiences and the things you can experience that you may not be able to find or experience in the real world. For creativity and imagination to come alive and step into the mind of someone else’s work. Every sim and piece of land starts as a barren, flat, area its our imagination that brings it to life. Everyday I am so grateful for all the creative users of Second Life who provide us with amazing places to explore and visit. If you are looking for beautiful scenery, relaxing music and sounds, and a place to get those creative juices flowing, look no further and check out this place. I promise you won’t regret it. I came into this post with an unbiased viewpoint and left being biased.

Skill Gaming Guide for Residents NOT in a Skill Gaming Allowed State

Back in the day Skill Gaming was accessible to everyone in Second Life. It’s essentially online gambling and gave the same vibes as a casino. However, in the early 2000s states like Florida decided to put an end to online gambling only allowing gambling at casinos and places with a license to provide those services in the real world. After that there was a block placed on Second Life residence who we apart of these laws or similar in other states. What if I told you there was still a way for you to experience “skill gaming” without the “gambling” aspect? We’re going to dive into this a little more and what you can or cannot do if you are not in a Skill Gaming accessible state and what you can do instead or similar to the Skill Gaming scene. We have options!

Skill Gaming Welcome Hub:

Even though we are not allowed to go to Skill Gaming regions we are allowed to go into welcome hubs or wherever Skill Games are that provide YOU with lindens for winning the game. For example, in Skill Gaming regions you can’t be there because technically you place an amount of lindens into the virtual machine, play the game and you can get 2x the amount or more you placed in or nothing back at all. Whereas in lets say the Skill Gaming Welcome Hub, because it teaches you ABOUT Skill Gaming, you are not gambling when you are trying them out and some games allow you to win 1 or 2 lindens just by playing and winning. So technically it’s not gambling because you’re not placing any currency into it. You are ALLOWED to do this if you live in an online gambling restrictive state so you can still be a part of the Skill Gaming scene you just can’t go to Skill Gaming specific regions.

Some places you can go to enjoy some Skill Gaming without gambling are:

• Welcome Hub - Skill Gaming Sim, Lucky Rainbow Sim (Click Here)

• Gaming Island - Skill Gaming Sim where you can earn small amounts of Linden per game, Gaming Island (Click Here)

You will find a lot of people at “Gaming Island” standing around a specific game called “Space Race Progressive.” The reason for this is the payout is 5L recently they raised the target win goal to 6,333 from the 5,000’s. So to win the 5L you would need to earn a the target score. However, the reason you see a lot of people around you is once you get the game it is super easy to win and really rack up Lindens with it if you are looking for a quick way to earn some lindens. Earning lindens comes with work if you’re not going to “buy” lindens. So why not earn them doing something exciting!

Tournaments and Virtual Game Hangouts:

Sometimes you can find Skill Gaming machines that you can use that are not on a Skill Gaming region. Though these are rare I have come across them quite a few times amongst my travels. They are typically in small hangout areas or family lands. I found a few on some Bloodlines family sims and also at a place with a lot of interactive game areas. They are out there, you just have to keep your eye out!

However, there are also tournaments and sometimes payouts for playing just regular games such as Greedy or Can’t stop with a K.R Engineering table dependent on the sim. However, the sim hosts the tournament for the game so they would also be the ones paying out on the wins. This is not constituted as gambling or skill gaming as you are not typically putting any money into it. There are some where you do but you can get around this because it’s not a Skill Gaming Region.

There are also some hangouts where people will bet money for fun to other players which again is not against the SL TOS if someone is providing money for a service. Again, there’s technically a grey line with this as it is not “constituted” as gambling perse.

“Greedy” and “Can’t Stop” are not technically gambling as typically people don’t bet money to play the games, but you can but we don’t discuss that too much, do as you please with that information.

These are just some things you can do to get around the Skill Gaming Regions and the online gambling ban for your state and still enjoy some of the same things that others get to experience with the Skill Gaming Regions. If I find any other things that you can do I will add them to this post. However, for now these are just a few things to get you started. Happy New Year 2026!

Hi Everyone!

I wanted to make sure I made it for the new year, which didn’t really happen. It’s still January though so I’m not too terribly late to wish all of you a Happy New Year! I don’t know about the rest of you but this new year has started out strange for me. Random trips coming up out of the blue, all the random stuff and tensions happening ALL around the world, not just the US. The changes we have just been feeling all around us. It’s kind of strange like that feeling when something feels off but you keep doing what you’re doing. Anyway! I’m really excited for this new year and the posts that will come with it. For those of you who are following me here on Tumblr, thank you for your continued support it means a lot know that someone is reading my random content. I look forward to vibing throughout this new year with all of you!
