Lark & Crickett

[Picrew]

Finally played Viatica after having the tab open for literal months. Twice. Immediately in a row. Lark’s a Leader and romanced Lion, Crickett’s a Pathfinder and romanced Heron.

Stella (Ilhana) & Petra (Dulcie)

I followed that up by playing Cantata, WIP from the same author. Twice. Immediately in a row. (Her writing’s really good, guys) Stella is earth-attuned and romancing Coda, Petra is air-attuned and romancing Bayram.

Hi all! I’ve been trying to figure out a better way to utilize my KoFi account and monetize my work. While Viatica is and always will be free, Cantata takes a significant amount of time and labor, and I believe my writing has value.

I at first considered a monthly subscription with additional content like extra scenes not in the original, or RO POVs. But I’ve had difficulty finding the time to write anything beyond the IF itself. I’m also worried that if I commit to writing monthly extras, it will become a source of stress and rob me of the joy I take in this project.

The answer? I’m going to monetize things I already do. I will no longer post sneak peeks to Tumblr and will only post them in KoFi. As a subscriber, you’ll get mid-chapter updates and see the work in progress; you’ll also get early access to the main update. When I “finish” a chapter I tend to sit on it for 3-4 weeks to flesh out scenes or sprinkle in flavor text. Chapter 4 was technically finished 3 weeks prior to the release, but I like to let it marinate. This is when I’ll release it to subscribers; there may be some discrepancies between the 2 versions, but nothing significant.

If I commission more art, I’ll share that process, too, from conception sketch to final.

If you don’t subscribe, you’ll miss nothing. There is nothing extra outside of the IF, neither will there be additional delays to updates. I still plan to keep to a quarterly publishing schedule as much as I can. But if you DO subscribe monthly, you’ll get to read Cantata as I write it, and get a unique behind the scenes look into my writing process, spoilers, and my future plans for Cantata.

There will only be one tier, priced at $5/month. I’m limiting it to KoFi for now, but if this is successful and there’s enough interest, I may look into Patreon.

I’ll wait a few weeks to get a little more work on Chapter 5 done, but around Thanksgiving I’ll give all subscribers access to the beta as your first perk. We’re 18k words into Chapter 5 so far! 💪🏻

Thank you for following me and for your support, whether that be monetary or not. This has been a wonderful experience and I enjoy sharing it with this community. ❤️

I played Cantata, fell in love with my little 6ft.+ mew mew Tellus, and decided to check out other games from the author.

That’s how I found the fully finished (!) game Viatica. It’s a great game with a very interesting world-building, characters, and lore. I love unusual, unique, rare worlds and exciting stories. In the epilogue I even shed a tear. And the main character! What a charming protagonist! A very warm character who strives for new things and isn’t afraid to look beyond the boundaries. I love playing as that kind of character. Highly recommend!

p.s. Some minor downsides. Well, these are not really downsides, but rather things that I personally didn’t like based on my tastes and preferences. Considering I’m extremely averse to any hints of RO/RO romance, it stung a bit. However, in the text such moments were very rare, so it’s fine. But what upset me more was the impossibility of choosing your preferred position in the extra epilogue with Heron, playing as a man. Considering that this game has NSFW scenes, I wanted my character to be a bottom (I felt that was his preferred position). You can only be like that with Lion, so… I really hope that in other games it will be possible to choose your preferences (unless, of course, the RO has their exclusive top/bottom position, then that’s a totally different story).

THIS!! I love all of this SO much! ❤️

I have to admit, I never thought about it in such a way, and Heron certainly doesn’t, lol.

To answer your question, I don’t think Bear would be surprised about Heron and MC—it’d feel natural to him that they’d find their way back to each other, as either friends or lovers. He does, after all, save Heron the same way his child did, knowing how important he is.

Yup, Heron’s doing a good job of trying to dethrone Lion in my mind, lol. Thank you for sharing that! 😁

Ah, the infamous Chapter 10 strikes again…

I understand, that chapter was difficult to write, believe me! But necessary. Their death was the catalyst that spurred MC into action—they died so the others could live.

With how long this story has lived in my head, they still feel alive to me. And I’m glad to have new readers to Viatica who get to meet them all over again. ☺️

I… I do not have the words for this! 😭 I love hearing the bits of Viatica you really enjoyed, thank you for sharing! But this bit right here:

You see the best part of these stories is that they remind us how bad things can get. How terrible the place we end up can be. But importantly, they remind us that as long as people live and love and care for each other, we can most certainly move away from such a place.

As bad as the world of Viatica is, the story is ultimately one of hope, and overcoming such darkness. That’s exactly the message I wanted to convey and I’m glad it came through.

I haven’t read Crown of Ash & Flames but the other 4 you mentioned are all IFs I’m feral over! I am humbled to be included in such grand company, and even more humbled to know my story inspired you. 🥹 Thank you, Lilith, for the encouraging words. Good luck with your own writing!

Aww, thank you so much for this!! I love that you stayed up and read Viatica but I hope you get your sleep, my friend! ❤️

I saw your other ask about Lion’s name and it’s funny because I did something similar. When I originally started brainstorming characters for Cantata, the leader of the Resistenza was a man named Leandros. And both my kids were like, “Mom. It’s Lion. You’re rewriting Lion.” 😅🤦🏻‍♀️

So I brainstormed some more and Corinne was born and love her!

I really am so grateful for your words! I love hearing that people enjoy the characters and setting and lore, especially when the 2 stories are so different. I appreciate that you gave them both a chance and thank you again for such a lovely compliment! ❤️

Hi Konoi! I received an excellent suggestion of Aes (brass and copper) which I’ll include in the next update. I received a lot of good suggestions for Viatica, too, while it was being written. But I’m glad that Ignis and Wolf were both there from the start for you to select! Patting myself on the back for that, lol. 😁
