Traina Thoughts: World Series Ratings Not Off To A Good Start
1. Here’s how you can tell if a rating is not great: The network tries to highlight local numbers. Game 1 of the World Series between the Astros and Dodgers on Tuesday night generated a 10.2 rating. Game 1 last year between the Indians and Cubs did a 12.6. Game 1 in 2015 between the Royals and Mets did a 10.5. So when FOX Sports tweeted out the rating today, they made sure to push the numbers for the L.A. and Houston markets.

Just to offer a little perspective for the misguided, “The NFL is dying” crowd, Sunday night’s Falcons-Patriots game drew a 12.6 rating. Game 1 of the World Series did a 10.2.

3. I don’t like doing this and it actually pains me, but I must call out one my heroes, Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry, who is supposed to be a die-hard Mets fan, made his Seinfeld character a Yankees fan. He’s explained over the years, that the Mets were terrible at the time and the Yankees, thanks to George Steinbrenner, provided more opportunities for comedy. OK, fine. But last night, there was Jerry in Dodgers Stadium, rooting like crazy for L.A. Come on, Jerry. You can’t do that. You can only have one favorite team. You can’t cheer for multiple teams. It’s a rule that’s actually in the sports fans handbook.

- Angels and demons start to wage a war over who gets to watch over humanity. Trip is an angel, Raina is a demon. Both were human once, but after their deaths they became soldiers for heaven and hell.
- Raina knows she is no hero, that she’s a monster. Life kicked her in the teeth, so she kicked right back. She knows she’ll die, and she accepts it.
- Trip has a chance to kill her in battle, but he doesn’t. Angels keep killing demons more and more brutally, they’re becoming no better than what they’re fighting. So he lets her go.
- While Trip patrols on Earth, Raina approaches him and asks why he didn’t kill her. He tells her why, and she’s intrigued. He doesn’t want to hate her, and she’s the same.
- When Trip leaves her after that conversation, he promises to meet her again sometime. He leaves behind a flower for her, one that doesn’t wilt when she picks it up.

“True.” Jemma shoved a handful of popcorn into her mouth, continuing to talk around it. Skye snorted. The only time Jemma Simmons was improper enough to speak with her mouth that full was when there was alcohol involved. “Not as happy as us, though.”
Skye frowned, raising her eyebrows in question. She was doing a good job at biting her tongue and not asking if Jemma meant what it sounded like she meant.
“I mean, popcorn, chocolate,” Jemma gestured at the various snack foods around them, not to mention the few empty pop cans, and the wine bottle on the coffee table. “Wine. We are clearly having a much happier time.”
Skye laughed. “I think you’re a little bit more tipsy than you thought, Jem.”
The other’s answer was a shake of her head and a waggle of her finger. “No. I’m just really happy, and pleasantly buzzed.”

Trip sighed and leaned against the side of the med pod, thinking about his next move. “I’m here because you saved my life by stepping between that knife and me, and figured the least I could do was keep you company.”
“Well, that’s different then.”

“No one else really comes to see me except for Simmons, and that’s only because she needs to make sure the stab wound’s healing,” Raina sighed sadly, wincing as she shifted up in the bed. “I guess maybe having someone here to talk to makes recovery easier.”
“C’mon girl, you think I’m gonna let you sit alone after you stepped in between me and that knife?”

She grins, full-faced with eyes wide. It’s eerie.
“It seems someone wished to take me up on my offer after all,” says Raina, heels clicking forward. She circles him, smile still soft and her teeth grazing against her tongue. Trip swallows when she steps even closer, her finger tracing lighting across his shirt.
“Searching me?” he asks, purposefully remaining still as she circles him. Trip exhales deeply. “See anything you like?”
Raina stops in front of him, tilting her head. Her tiny shrug clashes with her bright eyes. “Not yet.”
Trip smirks. “Then let’s get this over with.” Trip drops his bag to the floor and begins to unbutton his shirt, never unlocking his gaze from hers.
