Find your flow on the trail. Mountain running isn’t just exercise—it’s meditation in motion. Each step up brings new views, fresh air, and mental clarity you won’t find on pavement. Start with shorter trail loops and gradually build. Your legs (and mind) will thank you.

It’s been a while since my last check-in. I’m continuing to make good progress in this half-marathon buildup. The plan I am using at present is actually a base plan that I started as a way to build back fitness. But then I signed up for a half marathon in May. I could have pulled to a HM plan but decided to stick with the base plan and add miles where I could. The base plan has two weeks left, and I figure I can switch to a half marathon plan then with 7 weeks remaining before race day. I’ll basically join that plan midstream but I should be ready.
As for today, I had to wait until early afternoon but after morning track practice I headed to a nearby park and logged 6 trail miles, followed by some core. I’m planning on another long run step up tomorrow - 12 miles. It’s starting to feel real now and I’m enjoying the first real gains I have had in a few years!
