Every night I’d rewrite the list.

Every day I’d finish… maybe two things.

Then I discovered The 5-Task Rule — and it completely changed how I work.

Here’s the rule:
You’re allowed only 5 tasks per day. That’s it.

Not “top 5.”

Not “5 main + extras.”

Just five.

Suddenly, everything got clearer. I stopped over planning, started finishing, and finally felt in control of my time.

I’ve felt really directionless lately, and I think it’s because I’ve stopped timeblocking. I assume that every task takes forever, when in reality that’s just not true and I don’t have to do a task all at once. I can do it in pieces over the week as long as I plan. So, in an attempt to bring back some order today’s plan is to plan my week, in blocks of 30 minutes.

Big areas I need to make sure to include:

  • Time for my day-to-day schoolwork. Especially right now, my women’s lit paper due Thursday
  • My long-term papers. History and communications will kick my ass if I’m not consistently working on those papers through April.
  • Language learning. Moving forward I want to make sure to hit vocab learning, writing, speaking, and listening every week. I’m not including reading because I already work that into my daily life.
  • Hobbies! I crochet, I recently picked up embroidery, and I want to futz around with my sewing machine.

FAVE THINGS THIS WEEK | I love the @cloth_and_paper Time Blocking Notebook and the Aesthete Smoothing Lip Balm.

I don’t have much experience with time blocking, but I enjoy using this notebook to have a visual to evaluate how I use my time and adjust. BTW, don’t sleep on the C&P Sub boxes, which is where I get the majority of my inserts and stationery!

The lip balm is so smooth. I love how, almost instantly, my lips are hydrated. This Texas weather is like a yo-yo, so I definitely need this right now. The last photo is me today on a Saturday, relaxing and with this balm on my lips.

Fridays.
Admin days.

Fridays for me are all about admin
Sending emails, scheduling content, going through finances, pruning off my chaos coordinator pages ready for my prep for the week on Sunday. Filing papers. Etc.

Having a day dedicated to tasks like this really help keep me on track.
It helps me when planning in events, when scheduling in a coffee date with friends etc.
