A breathtaking fantasy romance meant to be devoured!
“The Legend of the Nine-Tailed Fox” follows Yue—a nine-tailed fox—and Sonam—the demon-hunter who captures her—after they are banished to the underworld together and forced to form a reluctant alliance in order to escape.
Kwan structures her latest novel beautifully, alternating between the present timeline and the story of the Legendary Archer. As the story progresses, the two narratives converge to reveal not only how the pasts of her characters are intertwined, but how they connect to the legends of old. Each line has intention behind it and the way the end circles back to the beginning is genius.
Kwan’s descriptive prose lends itself well to her world-building. I found her depiction of the underworld morbidly fascinating. She draws from Chinese mythology to create the ten courts of Hell and the ruthless star gods that preside over them. Each court is more haunting than the last, forcing Yue, Sonam, Sooah, and Wen to depend on one another to survive. The bond that they forge by the end is incredibly wholesome, and I found myself equally invested in the lives of the main characters and the secondary ones.
Yue and Sonam’s reluctant allies turned lovers arc is incredibly satisfying. Their relationship development is very gradual with the two initially at each other’s throats being demon and demon hunter. I loved watching their perceptions of one another change and the attraction between them grow the further they ventured through the courts of Hell. Snippets from Sonam’s hunting log reflect this at the beginning of each chapter and I couldn’t get enough of them! Kwan is the master when it comes to tension, angst, and yearning.

Hi everybody! My name is Opal, and I’m coming into the fandom world with Luna/Nyx! As stated in The Moon Archives, some information may be more Assassin’s Creed based, but I am open to developing with people from various fandoms, aka the ones listed in the post. What determines this character as original or canon solely depends if the media has a night goddess/Nyx character established, which is essentially who I am portraying as.
Luna is the primordial goddess of the night and moon whose personality is described as quiet, motherly, wise, serious, and philosophical. In the Assassin’s Creed verse, she became the first assassin and mentor after the great catastrophe occurred. Her purpose is to uphold the true ideology of the Brotherhood and document its history throughout time while also maintaining order by helping the descendants of the Isu. All of Luna’s efforts contributed to her redemption for letting dark forces consume her negative emotions to rule over multiple realms in eternal darkness.
There will be more information about her in other fandoms in the character lore post. If you are under the age of 18, please don’t interact due to the mature themes of this account.
