all the Mii fighters in smash bros are created by the game system (as part of the small fry corps) separate from real Miis.

none of the smash bros Miis are “real” Miis per se, they’re beings created from Mii data stolen from countless systems and (for the most part) cannot be originally created by the system. Miis from the Mii fighting team also differ from regular Miis in that they have defined bodies built for fighting, have hands with fingers instead of the ball hands that reg Miis have, shatter instead of bleed and bruise, and cannot emote their faces or move their eyes. normal, regular Miis also cannot be killed; they can only be erased

all the playable Miis in smash were all originally from the Mii fighting team! each of the six playable Miis have had some sort of “awakening” event which gave them their individuality/sentience which differed in between all of em. awakened Miis are more like reg Miis, being able to move their faces and eyes. they still crack and shatter upon being damaged, but they’re more durable than Mii fighting team members and will start bleeding through the cracks

however, upon their awakening, if they’re not careful and even show SIGNS of their newfound independence, they’ll be marked as “defective” and Mii fighting units will be ordered to dispatch them on sight. after the ssb4 mii trio’s escape, the system’s become a LOT more rigorous with its checking, going to the point where a special room has been created (the one in my “recurring nightmare” animatic!) so they can take any captured defecting Miis in to blacklist their data before destroying them

if the newly awakened Miis want to live, their only hope is escaping to the player’s area for smash bros, where if they run into the area deep enough, the system stops chasing after them and they become relegated to a “player character” (the Miis you get to pick and fight with!)

NOW ONTO THE ACTUAL MII FIGHTERS THEMSELVES LMAO

the ssb4 Mii trio were all originally from different squadrons of the Mii fighting team, but all escaped together

ssb4 brawler “awoke” upon a sudden thought along the lines “what the hell are we doing” and realizing that what the team was doing was utterly pointless

ssb4 swordfighter “awoke” in the middle of a battle realizing that all the Mii fighting team units were literally just getting sent in to die and wanted to live

ssb4 gunner “awoke” via a realization that the team’s equipment was all bare-bones and lackluster, feeling a deep sense of dissatisfaction with how things were and feeling she could make better equipment

i haven’t decided yet if they hide until they all discover each other and decide to run away as a group, or if they were all caught at the same time and basically forced to team up to run away. either way they all get discovered together and have to run for their lives all the way to the player area, where they become playable Miis and get coached by the ssb4 roster!!

the ssbu Mii trio is a bit different. the playable trio were all the system experimenting with creating original reg Miis (who function like a mix of reg Miis and “awoken” Mii fighting team units; they crack and bleed and have defined bodies, but they can’t be killed via impact to the head, they must be erased) for their corps, rather than stolen Mii data (the reason why the ssbu trio has original Mii data while the ssb4 trio don’t). they were also, in a complete mirror of the ssb4 trio, all part of the same squadron, but defected from the corps at different times

sordsman is one of the aforementioned originally created Miis. the system basically had to create original Miis, copy their data, and then erase them ASAP (though this is subject to change bc now that i’m writing this out this feels a bit weird. but anyway). sordsman was the first Mii the system created, however, they both didn’t work quickly enough with him and failed to properly dispatch him (trying to kill him via destroying his head instead of deleting him), leading to him still remaining as corrupted data within the system’s files. the system made sure to not repeat this with brawler and gunner’s Miis.

the system still decided to use sordsman’s data bc like. do u ever do shit just to see what would happen lmao

ssbu swordfighter was the first of the trio to defect from the corps, and in no small part due to sordsman. with sordsman now being basically stuck to him due to sword using his altered?/corrupted? data, and desperately wanting to get the Hell outta the place. sord basically forced sword to wake up and realize the corps was fucked

ssbu gunner defected next as she realized she hated constantly being in an army (also being referred to as a male soldier) and wanted nothing more than to just live freely

ssbu brawler was the last to defect, spurred by the fact that he realized that being in the corps meant he’d be repeating the same old routine with no chance for personal growth (i haven’t thought that much abt his reason yet)

all three of them were rescued from the corps and taken in by the ssb4 Mii trio! and the six Mii fighters are always looking out at the corps for potential refugees to rescue~

Hello Handsome…..

Bowser was stuck with two idiots in a place he had no idea he was going. HE WAS A CITY BOY!! Who even knows how to “navigate” anyway? ALL THESE TREES LOOK THE GOD DMAN SAME!!! Wario and Waluigi weren’t helping either, they couldn’t find their own noses if they weren’t attached to their ugly mugs!! But finally, someone decided to throw them a bone when they stumbled upon a House!! Finally!! Sure, it looked like three hurricanes ran through the thing but at least it was still standing! And it was big too.

He left the two bumbling brothers to themselves as he looked around. This space looked like a wreck. Whoever lived here clearly didn’t hear of hygiene. They…. looked happy. Wish he had that Bowser shook his head. He saw a room at the end of the hall. Maybe there was some grub. He opened the door AND NEARLY GOT HIS HEAD TAKEN OFF BY A GIANT PAIR OF SCISSORS!!. He put up his fists when he actually saw who had attacked him. It was a baby turtle in some sort of clown car….. WHAT THE HELL?!

The Turtle was growling at him. It’s clown car had a scissor hand at his face. It looked at him weirdly, LIKE HE WAS THE WEIRD ONE?! He told the turtle to back off. Wario and asked him what was up, Bowser yelled back at him to stuff it. That made the turtle laugh. They seemed to bond after that. Enough for the turtle to change into a HUMAN BABY?! It shocked him to his core. Was this baby all alone? Like he was when he was a…..

He can’t let this baby live like this. He had to protect the lil guy. No one was gonna hurt him, not on his watch. As he went to pick up the lil tyke, something caught his attention. He can’t explain it but the mirror in the room was calling to him. He had almost forgotten the rest of the room. It was elegant, like a king had lived there. It had to be a big king since the mirror was huge. It reached all the way to the ceiling. But what was important is what was in it. It was him, but more. Bigger, stronger, scalier. But it was still him. He knew it. Somehow, he knew this was one of his castles. Somehow, he knew things were gonna be just fine, as long as he was in charge.

Looks like Bowser not only found a baby (Which he quickly adopted and called him Bowser Jr) But also Himself…….

Hot take I guess, but macros should be allowed in ssbu. Some nearly frame perfect inputs are completely unnecessary. I’m just a casual player, I don’t want to spend tens of hours speedrunning arthritis to learn a couple new techs. Luckily I won’t have to cause I’m not joining a tournament big enough that bans that, but it just feels silly to me to restrict it. It’s not worth it to record long macros anyway since combos are so character dependant, so it helps a ton to set a single tech to a single button.
