Hi!! I’m sorry for finding your message only now 🫠

Honestly I don’t have strong opinion on that subject! Personally, I believe he would, after really long time, with care and probably therapy, find joy in intimacy again, especially with Shadow being his partner. After all he still enjoy kisses and cuddling, romantic way. But you can feel free to have your own headcanon about it ❤️

It always so strange to me… like… gets me off the table that the little thing I wrote one nigth (that isnt very long, its really short) gets a lecture. An actual lecture from someone out there … and they like it, my little silly thing …

Like I remember that nigth, I couldnt write my essay exam until I put that fic on a doc. I couldnt think about anything else. And as sleepdeprived as I was, I just say “heck yea” and post it. Lol.

The scariest thing about Iginio.

He’s based on real life rich people who believe in his own mid set.

He believes himself to be righteous and a savior, but he is willing to commit genocide towards innocent people and take away others free will.

The worst part is that there will always be people who will defend his actions for superficial reasons like “Being a family man” or “Being a Christian” or “He wants to protect the children”.

I wanna add something to my idea of how Shadonic/Sonadow would work, but I’m too lazy to go through my own posts to reblog/edit the original one. Find it yourself if you want to.

The context from the last time I talked about this ship isn’t really needed.

An art piece inspired this thought btw; didn’t read the username of who made it because I got excited and had to write this out before I forget.

With the way I see these two working, I think they’d lay on top of each other like weighted blankets when they’re overwhelmed but need anything but space. Like Shadow just had a very overwhelming day and he just… picks Sonic up and carries him to the bed. Sonic lets him and just silently lays on top of Shadow, thinking about food or something until Shadow initiates a conversation to further decompress.

Now, I’ve never used a weighted blanket. But a specially trained poodle laid on my lap once and I felt much more calm after a few seconds, so I imagine that’s how it feels. Except on the whole body and not just a concentrated area. I then felt embarrassed because my aunt took a picture of her dog keeping me from having a mental breakdown because 2020 was terrible for everyone’s mental health.

Talking about things while still upset about what happened doesn’t fix anything. So I think Shadow would also be lying there in silence to let Sonic’s weight calm him down. If Sonic gets distracted from his thoughts at all, it’s likely because he’s playing with Shadow’s chest fluff; normally Shadow wouldn’t like this, but it’s distracting him from whatever happened, so he allows it.

In reverse, I think Sonic would try to refuse being trapped underneath someone, even if he’s on the verge of breaking down. Shadow will force him down for the sake of the world as Sonic isn’t known to think straight when he’s extremely upset. Sonic hates it in the moment, but does eventually calm down and becomes much more thankful.

He doesn’t like talking about what’s bothering him much, but he’ll do almost anything for a chili dog. Shadow’s trying to be more open (very hard to do as someone who’s traumatized and used to heavily suppressing it) and Sonic subconsciously thinks that no one really cares what he’s going through (which isn’t ever true).

This does contradict what I said before, but this is also only specific situations where giving each other space would be dangerous. I still think their dynamic wouldn’t be very lovey-dovey as that’s just not how I see it working out with their personalities. But there are some exceptions. I can count them on one hand.

While My Guitar Gently Weeps

Sonic sat in his room, looking out the round window of the attic from his beanbag chair. It was a rather gloomy morning, foggy with rain and moist dirt, making it hard for Sonic to do what he does best. And since there was no running to be done in such inopportune weather, Sonic sat, watching the rain fall. The drops came from the sky like a gentle breeze; with little noise, and a comforting feel.

He, however, couldn’t be fully consoled by the rain- for he had much to think about, the thoughts racing through his head just as he would be on a sunny day. Laying in his beanbag chair, Sonic looked up at the ceiling, glow-in-the-dark stars, starting to peel, beaming back at him. They were dull and lifeless, and reminded Sonic once more of what he was desperately trying not to think about. The only difference between those two things was that what Sonic was worrying about..was very much alive.

Closing his eyes with a sigh, Sonic clenched his fists, not wanting his thought process to progress; but to his dismay, he couldn’t stop it. Not when it was stuck in the forefront of his memory, not when it was so recent, not when it meant so, so much to him. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn’t forget it or dispel it. He couldn’t forget him.

His eyes flashing open, Sonic sat up quickly, much faster than necessary. He tapped his foot rapidly on the tile floor, thinking, thinking… of him, of course. He just couldn’t get that hedgehog out of his head; they fought, and he had been so strong, so capable- it intrigued Sonic to no end.. And then, on the moon, when he had been told a bit about his past? Sonic was entranced.

The only issue with it all was how Sonic would approach it. Shadow tolerated him on the moon, sure, and even fought by his side! But who could count on such a fleeting moment? Sonic racked his brain, but the lingering thought that Shadow didn’t want to see him kept him thinking. He had seen evidence of Shadow’s being alive..and he kept it to himself. Nobody needed to know that he had one of Shadow’s inhibitor rings. It wasn’t important..right? Sonic tried to convince himself that his family didn’t need to know. After all, they’d find out in time, wouldn’t they? Who cares if it’s a little..late?

Okay, Sonic relents, he knows his family. And they’re the type to care about it. But he can’t just out Shadow like that- after all, he technically hasn’t seen him..

The sound of a tap on the glass of the attic window resonates through the room. The wind, in the growing storm, howls softly, rattling the window just as well. Sonic’s initial fear at the sound lessens, his brain smoothing it over with the simple thought, ‘it must’ve been the wind, or maybe a tree branch’. He couldn’t have been more wrong.

The very next second, the tap happens again. His eyes are drawn to the window; whether out of fear or instinct, nobody knows. Sonic gets up, taking uncharacteristically slow, silent steps towards the window, questioning the noise.. only to find, to his worry, nothing there. Nervously, he thinks, I must be imagining things, there’s no one there. He turns away, fidgeting with his fingers. When the thought starts to echo through his head, Sonic freezes- why did I think it was a person? His heart races, his body urging him to move, to tense, to escape the thought somehow-

He turns quickly towards the window again, and with a sharp gasp, prompty falls on his ass in shock. He rushes to stand back up, stumbling at his unsteadiness and speed in his urgency.. because he could’ve sworn he saw a pair of fiery, glowing red eyes just outside the window…

Sonic hurries to the window ledge, papers whirling around him at his sharp, speedy movements. When he looked over the ledge, however, he found himself rather..disappointed. The unexpected feeling caught him off guard. Waving from the ground, Amy Rose smiled up at Sonic, piko piko hammer in hand. To himself, Sonic assumed that Amy might’ve been trying to grab his attention..but it doesn’t feel right.. He thought he saw the bright crimson eyes of- nevermind.

Deciding to view it as a good fortune, Sonic beamed down at Amy, with a friendly wave and a bit of embarrassment- after all, he probably looked stupid and scared from her perspective.. But he digresses, there are bigger fish to fry. Like Amy, who is standing on the ground, rain soaking her cloak.

Sonic opens the attic window, peeking out of it before fully leaning over the edge, lucky that the edge of the roof extended just far enough to keep him from getting wet. Amy taps her foot somewhat impatiently, look up to Sonic and quietly motioning that she’s getting all cold and wet. With a quick nod, Sonic looks around his room for something to help her up with, and decides on a rather large, thick blanket. Fashioning it into a sort of thick roll, he holds it over the edge of the window, allowing the female hedgehog to jump on and carefully climb up. Once she reaches the window ledge, Amy lets go of the blanket, and hops into Sonic’s arms; “Hiiii, Sonic~!” Adjusting quickly to the sudden weight, Sonic accidentally drops the blanket out the window in his attempt to keep Amy from falling onto him or out of his arms.

Amy looks to him apologetically, as she murmurs, “Oh, oops! My bad!” Sonic laughs softly, placing her down beside him. “I’ll just..have to get that later, no big deal.” Grateful for his lack of anger, Amy grins thankfully, tilting her head forward a bit in a small nod. Sonic decides that now is the time to ask a question. “Hey, Amy, why’d you want to crawl through my window, anyway? Could’ve..just went through the front door. Not that I’m judging though! It was, um..graceful, how you did it.” Amy’s cheeks flush lightly, going unnoticed by Sonic, as she replies, “O-oh, well, I didn’t want to wake Tom and Maddie, you know? And..I wanted to be alone with you..”

At her comment, Sonic, surprisingly not entirely oblivious to her, blushes lightly. “Well, I could’ve snuck you in..if you maybe, I dunno, warned me?” He laughs nervously, fidgeting with his fingers, but steps back and welcomes her in. “Either way, it’s nice to have you here!” he says, trying to get the mood back to something less..noticeably awkward.

Stepping further into the room, Amy looks around, admiring Sonic’s personal space. The attic is chock full of Sonic’s stuff, making it clear that he’s left a big mark on the Wachowski family. There’s a corner with stuff that seems very un-Sonic-like, though, which draws Amy’s eye. She takes a couple steps towards the corner, close enough to see a lot of the items in detail. “Sonic, what are these?” Amy asks, with clear interest coloring her tone.

Sonic’s gaze snaps towards the corner, as he walks swiftly to her side. “Those are Tom and Maddie’s. They were up here way back when I moved in- so I haven’t touched them. At least, not too much, anyway,” Sonic snickers. Amy’s ears perk up as she smiles curiously, “Ooh. Do you know what that big, red bin is for?” Sonic puts his hands on his hips with a proud nod, wanting to impress Amy as he tells her about the items. “Well, it’s full of Christmas stuff! Decorations, the tree, etcetera.” Looking pleasantly surprised, Amy looks to Sonic: “That sounds cute! But, um, what is..’Christmas’?”

Sonic, torn between rambling on about the magic of Christmas and simply telling her she’ll find out later, pauses. He takes a deep breath, remembering something Tom taught him once about trying to “slow down every one in a while”.. And then, a mere second later, he bursts into an energetic rant about the magic of Christmas. “So basically, it-“ he starts, and he begins explaining Santa, the giftgiving, and so on. Amy nods and makes expressions of curiosity, interest, and other emotions akin to fascination while he speaks, until they both pause as they hear a loud thump from below. Frozen in place, they both look to the door at the same time, before turning to each other in sync, eyes wide.

Scared of being caught, Sonic rushes to find a place in the room to hide her; behind his beanbag chair, maybe near his shelf, or under a blanket? Amy, looking nervous, grabs his wrist, as footsteps can be heard approaching the door. Feeling rushed for once, Sonic mumbles to himself, “Uh..um..geez, maybe…there!” He runs, faster than Amy can comprehend, placing her behind his beanbag chair and under a blanket in only a few seconds. Sonic, realizing his light is still on, swiftly turns it off, the cord to turn off the bulb swinging wildly at his speed. Sonic plops down onto his beanbag chair, pretending to be asleep, as Amy makes a surprised “meep!” noise out of the suddenness of the action.

The footsteps reach his door at last, as Sonic closes his eyes and tries to subtly slow his racing heart. The footsteps slowly walk part of the way down the stairs, when Sonic rushes to get up and free Amy from the blanket..but unluckily, the shelf above his beanbag chair has had enough, and his prized comic book collection comes falling down on him with a crash and several small thumps. Amy yelps out of confusion, her lack of sight making it even more startling. Sonic, slowly comprehending what just happened, takes a moment too long to react, the footsteps rushing up the stairs and slamming open the door to reveal Tom, who was probably just checking to see if Sonic was asleep.

“Whoa, buddy, what happened?” Tom asks, startled by the comic books in a pile around and on top of Sonic. Weakly, Sonic answers; “Shelf fell.” Amy, trying to appear smaller under the blanket, and unable to see what’s happening, does her best to stay as still as possible. Tom nods, considering Sonic’s statement, before adding, “Do you have someone over? I heard a yelp or gasp or something, and it didn’t sound like you.” Sonic perks up, trying to quickly cover up the assumption, “Oh, uh, no! Definitely not! Maybe it was a voice crack, I don’t know, I was more worried with the obvious problem here.” Enunciating the ‘obvious problem’ part, Sonic silently wishes that Tom will just take that answer and leave him alone to clean up. “I see..need any help cleaning it up?” Sonic quickly interjects, with a, “No, I’ve got it, thank you! Don’t need any help, not at all, I never need help!” Before mentally facepalming at how awful and cringey his reply was. Tom laughs slightly, seemingly unphased, “Okay then, I’ll leave you to it.” Sonic is suspicious of his smiling and shrugging as he leaves, but chooses to ignore it, not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. Sonic and Amy, unknowing of how obviously alien-hedgehog-shaped the blanket looks draped over Amy, sigh in unison.

Relieved to have not been caught, Sonic whips the blanket off of Amy with a flourish, as she smiles gratefully up at him. “So, that was Tom, right?” Amy asks, slightly thoughtful. “Yeah. I think he was just coming up here to check on me..what luck.” Amy chuckles at Sonic’s answer, starting to pull herself out from behind the beanbag chair. “Oh, Sonic! The comic books!” Amy reminds, gesturing around him. With a quick look down, Sonic sighs, but this time, there’s much less positive of a reason. “I almost forgot about that..” Getting up in a flash, Sonic moves to gather up the comic books, dreading his awareness about how he’ll have to reorganize every issue to get them back in order. Kindly, Amy squeezes out fully from behind the beanbag chair, and drops to the floor to help.

Back in his and Maddie’s room, Tom climbs into bed, going to sleep, wondering in the back of his mind if it was Shadow or Amy hiding beneath the blanket. He knows for sure it shouldn’t be Shadow, but..it makes him think.

Short Ass Chapter 2

That same night, Sonic ushers Amy out of the attic window, urging her to leave before Tom and Maddie wake up. “Come on, come on, come on! You have to leave, or you’ll be caught!” Sonic whines, trying to hurry her while also helping her lower herself down. Amy huffs, a bit of blush coloring her cheeks at the thought of spending the night with him, “I know, but I don’t want to fall!” For another minute or so, Sonic helps Amy out of the window in silence, until she gently reaches the ground, the blanket method they used to get her in doubling as an efficient way out. From the ground, Amy waves to Sonic, preparing to leave; “Um..I..I had a good time, Sonic! Thank you for..for letting me in..” Sonic grins widely, heart fluttering softly in his chest, a bit of a flush on his own cheeks. “Of course! I love hanging out with you, Amy..even if it’s in the middle of the night, and you’re coming in through the window..haha.” Sonic brushes back his quills, a little flustered to say goodbye like this. “I’ll see you later, Sonic!” Amy exclaims, before running off, leaving Sonic leaning over the ledge of the window, with a soft smile on his face and a blanket that definitely needs washed still resting on the lawn in front of the house.

Sonic rushes down the stairs at incredible speed, going to the main floor and straight out the front door, realizing that he absolutely cannot forget the blanket from Amy’s entry, which is still laying in the wet grass. Uncaringly, he slams the front door open, snatching up the blanket just as Tom, who had gone unnoticed to Sonic in his rush, leans against the doorframe. “So, Sonic, you didn’t have someone over, yeah?” Tom says, with the most knowing of smirks. Sonic’s skin flushes pink, with a mix of embarrassment and frustration at the accusation. “W- no, you saw my room! I just..I got so mad, I threw my blanket out the window!” he lies, trying and failing spectacularly at saying something even mildly convincing. Tom, smirk still going full force, fixes Sonic with a teasing, but still accusatory, gaze: “You’re telling me that your comics falling on you got you so mad that you threw a blanket out the window, mid-storm?” Clenching his fists, Sonic struggles to think of anything better to say, deciding to double down. “Yeah, that’s right! I was super triggered by it, and I didn’t think at all!” Sonic accentuates, now seeming a bit more confident in his answer. With a chuckle, Tom coolly replies, “Okay, okay, I’ll leave that be for now. Anyway, we need to wash that blanket..” Leading Sonic back inside with the dirty blanket, they start a load of laundry, Tom still teasing Sonic for his response.

Chapter 3

Now, brain emptied of thoughts of current events, Sonic’s mind drifts to Amy. How they had fun, even when his comic books fell, and they just hung out after, telling stories and cracking jokes.. He thinks of how pleasant it was. How pleasant..she was. At that thought, Sonic blushes, feeling embarrassed instinctively, though not entirely sure why. After all, wouldn’t it make sense for a friend to enjoy another friend’s company? But for some reason, it didn’t feel like that to Sonic. He..felt different, and he couldn’t understand it, but he wanted to..which is a good start.

His mind drifts further, thinking of that funny feeling he gets around Amy, and he starts to think of a..more intense “funny feeling”… Sonic gasps, remembering Shadow, mind quickly jumping to thoughts of how he knows Shadow is alive. He could be anywhere, Sonic admits, but.. he has this feeling that Shadow is closer than he would expect, and it helps him lighten up about it. After all, Shadow doesn’t have anywhere else to go, and Sonic just..feels so connected to him. Maybe it’s because they’re so similar, in a multitude of ways, or maybe it’s just the fact that Shadow joined his side, if even for a moment, but- he..almost misses him? Sonic tries to rationalize the feeling, to shove it away, to pretend his brain misworded it, covering for whatever he really means, embarrassed and confused by the idea he could be missing the very hedgehog that tried to kill him more than once.

If anything, he should be missing Amy! She’s the one who’s really his friend, and who also doesn’t live with him..and another who he feels a bit conflicted about… With a loud sigh, Sonic flips over in his beanbag chair, trying to read the newest addition to his favorite comic series, with little luck. The distracting thoughts certainly aren’t helping.

Sonic, unable to focus, decides that it’s the perfect time for a run, now that it isn’t actively storming. He needs to clear his head, and if running is how he does it, then why not? Plus, exercise is healthy! Zipping out of his room in a second, Sonic rushes down the stairs, bursting out the front door with nothing short of pure, unadulterated joy. The air is fresh, the sky is blue, and Sonic is ecstatic to be back out for a run. Without so much as a word of notice to anyone who may be in the house, he escapes to the forest surrounding them, each step helping him lose his stress and let loose. Speeding up, he passes trees in a flash, circling a particularly large clearing with a loud, “Wahoo!”. In his cheerfulness, he doesn’t notice, as he circles closer to home, but a certain someone is..hanging around where they’re not wanted.

After at least half an hour of running, Sonic feels almost like new, revitalized and refreshed. The positive outlet to which he exerted his nervous energy really got him feeling good again, especially as it’s his number one favorite hobby. Whistling to himself as he calmly enters the house through the front door, Sonic remembers that everyone is busy tonight; Tom and Maddie are out on a special date, Tails is in his workshed, and Knuckles is out doing, well..Knuckles stuff. But despite how nobody is supposedly there, Sonic hears what sounds like..running water?

Tip-toeing closer to the stairs, the sound gets louder, alerting Sonic to either someone’s forgetting to turn off a water source, or that someone who isn’t supposed to be there is present. Still lurking around the stairs, he hears the water turn off, and recognizes the noise as coming from a shower. Ears twitching in anticipation, working on overdrive to hear every little noise, Sonic creeps up the stairs, taking small steps towards the bathroom…

In utter silence, Sonic checks if the door knob is unlocked, and finds that it isn’t. Clearly, whoever’s in there wants their privacy. However, the moment Sonic thinks to get a hair pin, the door handle starts to turn… so he runs like hell to hide around the corner, careful to cover his mouth and not peek yet. The mysterious person opens the door, mere feet from Sonic, the soft pattering of a steady drip of water following them as they move. Sonic, hearing their footsteps move in a different direction, turns just slightly to get a little bit of a look…

And to his confusion and surprise, there stands none other than Shadow the Hedgehog. Unable to stop himself fully, he gasps, before quickly clapping a hand over his mouth. Feeling a little hot, eyes replaying how the water is dripping off of Shadow, he tries to keep complete silence, but his noise doesn’t go unnoticed. Shadow grunts, turning toward the direction the sound came from, fists clenched..

Sonic stays completely still, forcing himself not to move even an inch. Shadow, wary of being caught, steps closer, the drips of the water sliding smoothly off the ends of his quills, not helping Sonic in his fear in the slightest. Reaching the corner, Shadow grasps the wall, and turns to look directly where Sonic is..but finds nobody. Satisfied by the search, Shadow heads the other way, feet padding towards an unused room.

Sonic, who had barely managed to hide behind a large piece of furniture just in time, lets out a breath he wasn’t aware he was holding. “Oh..my..chilli dog. I cannot believe that..just happened…” Catching his breath, he leans against the furniture he’s hiding behind, sliding down the side of it. “Shadow…what is he doing here? I need to tell them, I-“ he pauses, unsure, “No. They can’t know. I need to..protect him.” Sonic’s heart, racing like he just tried to lift up something really, really heavy, beats furiously in his chest. What was that? Was Shadow..showering? Sonic wonders, imagining Shadow cleaning himself very carefully. It seems in character, for him to be so meticulously clean.. With his mind starting to drift, Sonic catches himself, nose catching on the scent of lavender. Shadow’s scent, he deduces. If I see him again..what should I do…

Thoughts cut short by a jostling coming from his room, Sonic jumps at the opportunity to investigate. “Hmm, must be Shadow..but what could he be doing?” He carefully walks through the hallway, checking for any signs of Shadow, and finds he isn’t there, leading him to think that it must be Shadow in his room. Slowly and carefully, Sonic starts to go up the stairs to his room in the attic… As he tries to walk as soundlessly as possible, he makes a misstep, stepping on a stair that is incredibly creaky. The noises of someone in his room stop entirely, so Sonic races up the stairs, trying to catch Shadow in the act- only to find nothing..

Despite his disappointment at being found out, Sonic looks around his room, quickly finding that Shadow was..looking through his stuff?!? There are random items of Sonic’s strewn across the floor, drawers open and emptied; Sonic, trying hard to think of what Shadow could’ve been looking for, comes to an easy conclusion. He must’ve been looking for the inhibitor ring! But that doesn’t explain his, um..showering… Sonic muses, trying to connect the dots about what he knows of Shadow. So far, he knows that Shadow is cruel, violent, gruesome, and cleanly? But also very, very strong, and determined to follow his own direction. It doesn’t help much, but Sonic can guess that he probably hasn’t had a home for weeks now, and taking a shower isn’t the worst thing a space hedgehog with anger issues could do.

Going high-speed to make cleaning his room a little quicker, Sonic discovers that Shadow didn’t find the inhibitor ring in time, much to his curiosity. How did he even know it was here in the first place, anyway? It’s..unusual. Thinking to himself, Sonic questions if Shadow was actually here for that..but decides that, no, he must’ve been! What else would he be looking for? To Sonic’s increased befuddlement, he can’t come up with any other ideas, which means he’s stuck on a single lead.

Going back to cleaning up the mess Shadow made, Sonic finishes fixing up his room, just in time for Tails to come in. Excited about something, clearly, Tails speaks up, “Hey, Sonic! I have something I want to show you, come on!” Following Tails out of the room, glad to be pulled out of his thoughts, Sonic puts on a smile.

Tails leads Sonic to the shed in the back, looking really proud of himself as he motions to a complex machine, of which is about as tall as him. “Through this,” Tails introduces, “we can keep track of the energy signature and levels around our home and all of Green Hill! It’s simple, really, how-“ Losing concentration, Sonic’s mind wanders, the difficult words spilling from Tails’ mouth not helping him keep focus. Lost in thought, Sonic’s mind drifts to ideas involving Shadow’s presence in their house earlier..

..Before getting aggressively snapped at by Tails. Snapping his fingers, Tails succeeds in getting Sonic’s attention; “Okay, I know I should’ve expected this when I started explaining it, but Sonic! Look!” Tails, excitedly, points to a script of paper coming out of the machine. It seems to be the energy levels for the past hour or so. Curious now, as he can understand a simple graph pretty well, Sonic looks over Tails’ shoulder as he takes the paper. On the paper, there is a massive energy spike fairly close to the time Sonic was alone in the house. Somewhere around 30 minutes prior to Tails busting into his room, he gathers. Having an “A-ha!” moment, Sonic tries to keep his discovery secret, not wanting Tails to become aware of Shadow’s return. To himself, Sonic recognizes that the energy spike is probably from around the time Shadow Chaos Controlled out of his room; but, still not sure what Chaos Control even is, he chalks it up to Shadow using his power and causing the spike, still not recognizing the fact that it isn’t teleportation.

Now a bit nervous, as Tails is smart and might connect the dots on his own, Sonic offers a shrug. “I was the only one home at that time, and nothing weird happened, like, at all! You sure your machine isn’t buggy?” Tails bites his lip, thinking about it himself, before giving Sonic a determined expression. “Would I have shown it to you if I wasn’t confident in it?” Tails replies, eyes shining with interest at what the machine has shown. Sonic chuckles, trying to lose the lie with a smile, “True, true, little buddy. I guess we had something pretty strong near us at the time, but it’s gone now!” Hoping the thought he voiced will influence Tails somehow, Sonic waves with a cheery goodbye. “Anyway, see ya later, Tails! I’m gonna go do fun stuff.” Running to his room in a flash, Sonic plops down on his beanbag chair, and pulls out his guitar.

Plucking a few strings, Sonic grins, playing a simple song for himself. As his fingers strum, playing the notes of a song he’s familiar with, he hears a tap on the window. Again? What is it now? he thinks, dropping his guitar safely onto the beanbag chair. Getting up to check, Sonic approaches the attic window, looking down to see Amy again.

“Amy! I thought it’d be a while before you came back..lucky us, you can go through the front door this time, ‘cause I don’t think Knuckles is here yet, and Taiks is in the workshed.” Beaming up at him happily, from her place on the ground, Amy shouts up to him, “No, I have something for us to do outside! I- If you want to, that is…”

Pleasantly surprised, Sonic grins eagerly down at her, “I’ll be down in a flash! I’d love to see what you’ve planned, Amy!” He rushes out of his room, a couple of his comics flying off the now-fixed shelf at his impatience and excitement. Once he reaches the front door, he practically throws it open, smiling widely at Amy. “So, what is it, Amy? Don’t leave me hangin’!” Sonic, positively bubbling with energy, pumps his fist, certainly very happy about it, whatever ‘it’ may be. Amy, a little embarrassed by the intensity of his excitement and not sure how he’ll feel, keeps a steady tone as she reveals a picnic basket from beneath her cloak. “I, um, thought we could go on a picnic together! I packed some sandwiches and drinks, I even made you chillidogs..” Sonic whoops loudly, not disappointed in the sligtest. “That’s awesome, Amy! Where do you want to set it up? I can get a blanket for us to sit on!! Oh, this is going to be so fun!”

Slowly but surely, Amy’s smile grows every second that Sonic speaks, as she feels reassured by his anticipation and joy. Excitedly, she replies, “Well, I was thinking..maybe in that field a bit through the forest behind your house?” Sonic easily connects the dots, as he’s very aware of the terrain around the Wachowski home. “Oh, yeah! Works for me!” And so, Amy, at a normal speed, and Sonic, going fast, head their separate ways; Amy, to the field, and Sonic, into the house to get a picnic blanket. Whistling as she makes her way to the field, Amy lovingly thinks about what might happen with Sonic while they picnic. Sonic, however, speedy as he is, isn’t the fastest in the brain, and so does not recognize how Amy feels, as he passes her in a second, blanket flapping behind him. Finding a suitable spot in the field, just under a big, shady tree, Sonic carefully places the blanket, with much cheer. When he sits down, he waits patiently for Amy to catch up, seeing her jogging towards him at a steady pace. As he watches her approach, his heart thumps a little louder in his ears, and he feels a bit more nervous than he would had he been with Tails or Knuckles, but he chooses to ignore it.

Once she’s only a couple feet away, Sonic pats the spot beside him. “So, why choose the forest? Could’ve been in my backyard, or somewhere else,” Sonic asks, trying to start up conversation. Amy answers, sitting down and leaning back, using her arms to support her, “I thought it would be quiet and peaceful, you know? Just us, together with nature, enjoying lunch.” Sonic nods fondly, appreciative of her thought process and how it translated to reality. “I like that. It is peaceful.. good choice, Amy,” Sonic says, with a softer tone. He’s never really taken the time to look at and get to know what’s around him before, especially not with Amy. Feeling gentler, Sonic looks to Amy, and, unexpectedly, murmurs, “It’s really pretty…almost like you..”

To his luck, Amy doesn’t hear it, missing the last half. However, she nods in agreement, before asking, “What was that last part?” Sonic, suddenly aware of his words, feels his face flush as he gets flustered. “Uh, well- I mean- It was, um..! It was nothing, just another compliment to the scenery! Yeah, that’s right!” Laughing lightly, Amy grins at him, teasing, “Oh, you! You’re so funny, Sonic.”

Enjoying the moment, Sonic doesn’t notice the figure standing between the trees, presence going unnoticed not for the first time, but one of many. Their crimson eyes look out, red hot, from the spaces between the trees.. Shadow the Hedgehog is watching. And he is not happy.

Chapter 4

After hanging out with Amy on the picnic blanket for a long time, Sonic decides he wants to try something else. “Hey, Amy?” Amy turns towards him with a smile, the silence they had between them for a bit now broken, “What is it, Sonic?” Laying on the blanket, looking up at the clouds in the sky, Sonic asks a second question: “Wanna see something cool?” Amy knowingly lays down beside him, scooting closer while she lays on her side. “Of course! What is it?” she asks, now interested. Sitting up rather quickly, Sonic looks at her with a big grin- “It’s a surprise.” Sitting up herself, Amy claps her hands together in excitement, giggling, “Ooh, I like surprises. Show me, come on!” With a nod, Sonic races back home to grab something, being a bit more careful than usual so he doesn’t damage it as he brings it to Amy.

Amy marvels at the item, very curious. “Sonic, Sonic! It has a funny shape, almost like a squash? But if it was hollow.. What’s it do?” Sonic, realizing she’s right, grins in response. “Wow, you’re not wrong.. Can’t believe I didn’t think that! Anyway, Amy, it’s a guitar.” He pauses for effect, before continuing, “It’s a musical instrument. Cool, right?” She nods, eyes closing in a nod as she agrees; “So, it’s like..a weird stringy instrument? That’s pretty cool!” Sonic chuckles to himself, pulling the guitar into his la as he proclaims, “You know what’s cooler? That fact that I can play it!”

The trees rustle with movement, not far from Sonic and Amy, without their knowledge. Too busy chatting about guitars, the swish of the trees, despite the lack of wind, goes unnoticed. Putting his fingers in the correct positions, Sonic gives the guitar a beautiful strum, further exciting Amy. “Oh, wow! It’s..it makes a gorgeous sound..!” Amy exclaims, not expecting the beautiful noise. Sonic smirks confidently, as he begins to play a song for her; “Yup! Pretty awesome, right?” Amy nods energetically, watching and listening to him play, swaying along with the slow, almost hypnotizingly-melodic beat. Wordlessly, the two enjoy the music together, Sonic playing the guitar, Amy dancing casually. Once she catches the tune, Amy hums along, adding her own lovely sound to it, making it very personal for the both of them. Smiling at each other, eyes lidded, the two lean in a bit..

..But are quickly interrupted by none other than Knuckles, who probably came home to look for more boulders to bench press, or smash, or whatever he does with them, really. Knuckles looks at the two of them, eyebrow quirked, “Hedgehog, what are you doing with the pink one?” Sonic and Amy pull away immediately, realization dawning on them, as they both get very flustered. Sonic starts, “What, no- nothing! We were-“ Amy continues, “doing nothing at all! Really, Knuckles, we were just sitting here, and-“ Sonic adds, “making music together! We swear!”

Knuckles laughs triumphantly, stating, “A true warrior never reveals their secrets! I see you know something of importance, hedgehog. I will leave you and the pink one be.” Walking away, carrying a boulder in each arm, Knuckles disappears through the trees. With a sigh of relief, both Amy and Sonic flop down on the picnic blanket, laying there all stretched out. For a moment, there’s peace, until they remember what Knuckles interrupted..

Amy sits up fast, and starts gathering her stuff. “S-see you later, Sonic, gotta go! I have, um..important things to do!” Rushing to get away, Amy packs up the last of her stuff and, with a brisk wave, runs off into the forest alone. Left by himself, Sonic continues to lay on the blanket, not even having had enough time to say a goodbye. He looks up at the sky, feeling calm in his solitary state for a second, before his mind floods with a rush of thoughts of Amy and what they were doing minutes earlier. Instantly embarrassed, Sonic’s leg bounces quickly, and he covers his eyes, as he’s overstimulated.

The trees rustle behind Sonic, and although he’s lost in his thoughts, the closeness of the rustling and lack of wind pulls him out of them. “Wh- what was that?” Sonic murmurs to himself, turning to the trees to get a look. In the trees, Sonic sees a flash of red; what looks like two red eyes, glowing strongly, pass him by. Jumping to his feet in a flash, Sonic immediately keeps chase, following the figure through the trees.

Racing through the brush, Sonic dodges vines, roots, and rocks, going as fast as he can, and slowly catching up. As the figure starts to get clearer, black and red quills coming into view, Sonic’s gaze sharpens. Shadow? Again? Was he..watching us the whole time?!? Shocked by the potential, Sonic pauses, feet skidding in the dirt. OH MY GOD, THAT’S SO EMBARRASSING! Too bad for Sonic, Shadow escapes, with a perfectly timed Chaos Control.

Blushing hard, Sonic, deeply flustered, starts to worry what Shadow will think of him. Will he still want to fight me? Maybe he’ll avoid me even more! he thinks, before realizing that Shadow was in the act of escaping him. Why was even he there…? Sonic ponders, heart fluttering at the thought of what Shadow might have witnessed. After all, he might’ve seen Sonic and Amy have a very emotionally intimate moment, which..isn’t cool at all… but mostly, Sonic worries about what Shadow thinks and feels about it. Was he okay with it? Is a thought that crosses Sonic’s mind, as he nervously straightens his quills out of habit. Realizing how stupid and weird he sounds for thinking of such irrelevant things, Sonic shakes his head, willing himself to be rid of those thoughts.

Going back to the field at a rather normal pace- for him, at least- Sonic gathers up the picnic blanket he and Amy used, as well as his guitar, which he looks at fondly. He had fun with Amy, he admits. She’s a great friend. Ready to go home now, he zips back to the Wachowski home, bursting through the front door and walking in on Tom and Maddie talking about something. Judging by the pause, it’s not too hard to guess that the “something” is him. “Um, Tom, Maddie? What’s the staring for?” Sonic asks, being his usual tease, though he’s a bit nervous. Maddie speaks up, with a smile, “Nothing, we were just talking about why you,” she pauses, to clear her throat, “got so angry and threw a blanket outside while it was raining.” Sonic purses his lips in a tight, thin line, putting his hands together and pointing his fingertips towards Maddie. “Well, you see, my precious comic book shelf fell on me. Which, you know, prized possessions, of course! Not cool, not cool.” Maddie nods, deciding that she kind of understands his perspective, but still finds it pretty damn unusual; “O-kay, makes just enough sense to pass…” She giggles, nudging Tom with her elbow, as he grins knowingly at her. “Just don’t do that next time, alright Sonic?” Saluting, Sonic nods, using the action to display his understanding, despite the fact he’s unsure if there will be a similar enough ‘next time’. “Gotcha!”

For the rest of the day, Sonic just hangs out in his room playing video games, reading his newest comics, and practicing guitar. As time comes for dinner, he joins Tails, Knuckles, Tom, and Maddie at the table for a nice meal of taco salad. Knuckles, ever the big eater, challenges Sonic to a fight for his food, to which Sonic smoothly declines, giving Knuckles an excuse to call him a coward. Unusually, however, Knuckles goes a bit further than he usually would, comparing him to how “open” he seemed with Amy, bringing attention to what Sonic was doing while Tom and Maddie were gone and he was out alone. “Amy? The girl hedgehog?” Tom asks, curiously, as Maddie smiles mischievously. “So, you were hanging out with her today, huh, Sonic?” Maddie asks, as Tails giggles. Flustered, Sonic stands up abruptly; “What, no, not like that!! We were just..doing friend stuff!” Tails, Maddie, and Tom all eye each other with a knowing look. “Okay, okay, cool it, buddy, we believe you,” Tom replies, urging Sonic to sit back down, while shooting Maddie a smirk. Maddie winks back. “Let’s keep eating, come on!” Maddie encourages with a clap, reminding everyone to continue..except for Knuckles, who has not been paying attention for several minutes now, and was already focused on devouring his salad.

Sonic, frustrated by all the looks and teasing, finishes eating quickly, and goes up to his room in the attic to rest. For the next couple days, he doesn’t see Amy nor Shadow, and almost forgets about all the issues they’ve been causing….almost.

Tails, rushing up to Sonic a couple days after Sonic last saw Shadow, unfurls a long script of paper. “Sonic, the energy levels went up..ah, two days ago! You think it’s…Shadow?” he asks, nervously, shifting from foot to foot. Not wanting to stress him out, Sonic lies without thinking, “No, of course not! Probably some other weirdly strong energy…I mean, there’s not even evidence that he’s alive!” Nodding, Tails thinks about it a bit himself. “I don’t think we should rule it out, but you’re right- we don’t even know if he survived. Jumping to conclusions could be detrimental…” Tails walks away, rerolling the script of paper as he does so, mumbling to himself and thinking hard.

Remembering how Shadow Chaos Controlled away from him during their chase, Sonic recognizes that the energy spikes most definitely are related to Shadow.. which is bad. He knows that Tails, very easily, could find out for himself what Shadow is up to.. superior intelligence and all. Which means that, in order to keep Shadow safe from potential issues, something Sonic still doesn’t entirely understand why he wants it, he must first find Shadow’s hiding spot. It’s been a while since he last got any clue towards where Shadow could be- pretty stupid he didn’t check earlier, Sonic admits. I mean.. he’s dangerous. I should’ve thought to look earlier….

So, now on a good track, Sonic, who was outside after a run, creeps inside, realizing no one’s home again today. Maybe Shadow would be coming back for the Inhibitor Ring he stole, since he seems to know Sonic has it, and also the times when no one’s usually there.
