This week marks @naidocweek 2021. With the theme Heal Country!, NAIDOC 2021 invites the nation to embrace First Nations’ cultural knowledge and understanding of Country as part of Australia’s national heritage.

As soon as we can open our doors again, Carriageworks will present ‘The Future is Here’ a new exhibition by Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist @dennisgolding. The exhibition features colourful capes that were created during a @solidgroundau workshop where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students from Alexandria Park Community School designed capes with iconography informed by their lived experiences and cultural identity. As superheroes, Golding and his young collaborators are empowered and reminded of the strength of their culture in forming their identity and connection to Country. Individually and together, the capes critique social, political and cultural representations of contemporary First Nations experience.

Hindi ko na alam kung anong tamang salita ang dapat gamitin para lang mailabas yung nararamdaman ko, para lang purihin siya at ang mga karanasang ito. WOOOOW ang ganda ng mundo! Punong-puno ng pagmamahal ni Kristo. Yung mga bundok, karagatan, kagubatan? WHOAAA sobrang nakakabighani! At GRABEEEE may mga tao palang kagaya nila, brothers and sisters, titos and titas, sa community na ‘to lahat kayo feeling close. Kahit di mo kilala basta ang alam mo brother/sister mo siya! ANG GALING Dinala niya kami sa Ilocos Norte, may galing pa sa dulo ng Mindanao, sa Visayas, sa iba’t ibang parte ng Luzon pati pa sa iba’t ibang bansa. Nagtipon-tipon dahil sa iisang layon. SARAP SA FEELING! amazing! Yung pakiramdam na nasa gitna ka ng 7,000 na taong umaawit ng papuri sa Diyos. Yung puso ko! Whooo grabe nababalot ng pagmamahal. ASTIIIG! Lord your love shines like the sun so bright. Gaano man kataas ang temperatura na para ka nang nasa sauna, mapapapunta at mapapapunta ka pa rin sa gitna. Dooooooon! Sa gitna ng napakaraming tao, sa lugar na kinatitirikan ng araw. Kakanta, tatalon, sasayaw, ngingiti nang dahil sa pagmamahal niya! NAKAKAKILIG! Yung pamilyang 'to yung YFC, this is my S O L I D G R O U N D. PRAISE GOD!
