Scott had never imagined that he’d be at a brewery sharing beer with the love of his life, in public, yet here he was. His anxiety had trained him for years to hide who and what he was.
Over the last couple of months that anxiety lessened, brick by terrible brick crumbling away. He’d practiced not retreating from Kip’s touch in public, fingers sliding between Kip’s, shaking at first, then calming after Kip gave him a reassuring smile. He’d stopped wearing sunglasses and eventually ditched wearing a hat. “You look so handsome,” Kip said, which stamped down the nerves that had risen up in his chest.

Donald Trump, the President of the United States, declared this past Thursday that while Iran’s national football squad was “welcome” to contend in the FIFA global tournament hosted in America, he nonetheless counselled against their participation, citing concerns for “their own safety.”
On the social networking platform Truth Social, Trump communicated: “The Iran…

kip likes to make food for scott so he can draw smiley faces on it and watch him blush
when scott pisses him off, he makes food for him just so he can give it to him without the smiley face and watch scott suffer
scott’s dog-left-out-in-the-rain look quickly dissolves whatever irritation he had, though, and kip puts him out of his misery by kissing all over his face till he smiles again

Kip and Scott are riding the high of coming out and can’t help finding gifts that the other would like.
***
Things have been more than a bit crazy since Scott came out in a big way during the Stanley Cup final and subsequent celebrations. The speech he’d made at the awards and the various parties and Scott Hunter nights had made big splashes in multiple cities and took up a lot of time in the few weeks / months since the Cup.
Scott had loved the support and done his best to ignore the burning jerseys and tweets and messages that weren’t so accepting. His agent had made a point to engage him with trying to replace the endorsement deals he’d lost in the process (although he’d been delighted that some endorsements have sought him out following his coming out – in a show of support that he had hoped for).
All it means, though, is that it’s been the busiest off-season he’s had in a while.
It also means that he hasn’t seen as much of Kip despite the fact that he lives with the man.
[[MORE]]So, when he finally finally gets the opportunity to head home to man of his dreams after weeks apart, he’s not surprised when Kip is all he can think about. And even less surprised when he happens to see a book of historical fun facts in the window of a store out of the corner of his eye as he makes his way home.
He stops. It’s exactly the kind of thing Kip might like.
Smiling, he can’t help going inside to go get it.
Kip will love this, is all he thinks as he buys it.
He can’t wait to give it to him.

It’s probably a little silly for someone who used to work at a smoothie shop to find a home smoothie maker and buy it, but all Kip could think about when he’d seen it is the way that smoothies had brought him and Scott together.
Their meet-cute as their friends (and the general internet) has begun calling it is entrenched in smoothies, and it just feels like a fun way to remember that. A light reminder of where they started as they truly begin to build a life together.
He checks his watch, and then his phone, to confirm that Scott should be home any minute.
He hopes he likes the surprise.

“Babe, I’m home,” Scott calls out the second that he pushes through the door. He tosses his bag next to the door but keeps the gift with him as he goes to find Kip.
“I’m in the kitchen!”
He smiles as he sees his wonderful boyfriend with what looks like a smoothie maker in front of him.
“Missing the smoothie shop, are you?” he teases as he gives him a kiss. Short and sweet mainly because he’s too curious to not get answer and anything more passionate would distract them both.
Kip laughs and rolls his eyes. “I saw this and I immediately thought of you and how we met, and I know I don’t work at the shop anymore, but you could still theoretically go there to get your fix –”
“Pretty sure it was you not the smoothie,” Scott offers. “I didn’t go by the shop much after we got together, and I still won.”
Kip laughs. “My point is that I thought we could continue your new good luck fix here, at home. The season’s going to start again soon, and we gotta ride that high of the big win to win another one, right?”
Scott hums. Loving that Kip considers it their win (because it is, in a way) because up until a few months ago, Kip had no idea about anything hockey related and it’s a great sign of how far they’ve both come.
He also loves that he’s joined the superstitious bandwagon, and indulging Scott’s odd habits and beliefs that will lead him and his team to a win.
“I love it,” Scott says, giving him a kiss. “And I have something for you, too.”
“Oh?”
He smiles as he pulls the book out of the bag and offers it to him. “I saw this and figured … you might like this. I hope you do.”
Kip accepts the book, looking at it and Scott’s delighted when his smile widens. “This is brilliant. I love history facts – fun or otherwise.”
Scott grins, it makes him feel good to offer him a gift that he’ll actually accept (since he’s been such a disaster at offering gifts before. He’s learning.
“I thought you might. I was on my way home and just couldn’t resist.”
Kip gives him a kiss, the kind that has the ability to either lead him to the bedroom or stop just short for some teasing and talking.
When he leans back instead of pushing for more, Scott knows it’s the latter.
“Let’s go on a date tonight – we can do that now, in the real world,” Kip states.
Scott considers countering.
He’s had to put on his smiling PR face for weeks now, even when sometimes he’s gotten some completely ridiculous commentary about his being gay and how it may have affected his team (his team that has been quite supportive in a way that he knows other teams wouldn’t be), but he knows better.
Even if Kip has been overwhelmed with everyone knowing about him and their secret – he’s gotten quite a few interviews and journalists and hockey fans showing up at his work causing chaos himself, he also knows that their big fight had been about exactly this.
Even if he wants to have a date night at home, he loves Kip enough to say, “I think that’s a great idea – on one condition.”
“Condition?” Kip asks, his eyebrows raising.
“Yes,” Scott says, eyes glittering. “We start with dessert because I really really missed you.”
Kip laughs and smiles and wraps his arms around Scott’s neck. “You drive a hard bargain, but I suppose that’s a fair condition.”
“More than fair, I’d say,” Scott teases.
He gives him a kiss and this time, it’s the kind that leads to the bedroom, which is exactly where he wants to be.
Always.

The bullet that shattered the bottle also gets Skip and alcohol all over the car. Skip collapses forward from being shot. The unknown person who just shot Skip opens a lit, lighter and throws it into the car. The car burst into flames. The unknown person walks away.
The Rookie and Heated Rivarly have something common for me. I started watching them because of the “main” ship, but I got hooked because of the “secondary” one. Wopez and Skip you are so loved by me🥰💘❤️🔥

Skip opens the bag and finds a bottle of liquor in it. Skip says, What is this, some kind of sick joke? Someone walks closer to Skip’s car then pulls out a gun and cocks it. Skip says, Hey…geez! The person pulls the trigger and shoots into the bottle of liquor that Skip is holding. The bottle shatters.
I knew some of you genius motherfuckers were going to RUIN MY LIFE by putting Porch Light on Heated Rivalry edits.
