Overview of the Remastered Edition
The project celebrates the 60th anniversary that was inspired by the Rankin/Bass 1968 Classic The Little Drummer Boy by merging the original Japanese “Animagic” stop-motion heritage with cutting-edge 2028 restoration technology. This edition entirely replaces the original 1968 audio—including dialogue, vocalizations, and music—with a new, star-studded redubbed cast and an expansive orchestral score. The visuals are meticulously restored into a 4K, 1.69:1 widescreen format, using digital set expansion to provide a modern cinematic experience while preserving the tactile charm of the original puppets.
Plot Synopsis
The story centers on Aaron, a young, orphaned boy living in ancient Judea. For one night, bandits of the desert tragically murder his parents, burning their farm, and steals their flock of sheep. This trauma leaves Aaron deeply scarred and filled with a profound hatred of all humanity for what they had done to his family and he kept that vow, finding solace only in the company of his three devoted animal friends: Samson (a faithful donkey), Baba (a gentle lamb), and Joshua (a loyal, slightly grumpy camel).
Aaron possesses nothing but a simple drum, a cherished gift from his late father, which he plays in the desert. His animals delight in dancing to the rhythm, their joy being the only light in Aaron’s dark, isolated world.
The small troupe is soon captured by the avaricious, traveling showman Ben Haramed and his bumbling assistant, Ali. Ben forces Aaron and his animals to perform in the showman’s caravan, a journey into the crowded city of Jerusalem, where Aaron’s drumming act becomes surprisingly popular. However, the faces of the cheering mob only fuel Aaron’s anger, reminding him of his loss, full of hatred for all people for what they did to his family, then lashes out at the townspeople, accusing them of being thieves and knaves.
While being chased out of Jerusalem by the mob, the caravan crosses paths with the magnificent entourage of the Three Magi (Melchior, Gaspar, and Balthazar), who are meticulously following an extraordinary star across the desert sky. Ben Haramed, ever the opportunist, negotiates a trade, selling Joshua the camel to the wise men when one of their own pack camels falls ill. Distraught at the loss of his friend, Aaron flees the caravan and pursues the bright star toward Bethlehem, with Samson and Baba in tow, determined to retrieve Joshua.
Near a crowded stable in Bethlehem, tragedy strikes again when Baba the lamb is injured by a fast-moving Roman chariot. Hesitant and cynical, Aaron makes his way to the stable, feeling ashamed that he has no gold, frankincense, or myrrh to offer as a gift. Gaspar, recognizing Aaron’s despair, gently advise him that perhaps the newborn King, whose birth the star heralds, is the only one who possesses the power to save his lamb.
With courage gathering, he decides to offer the only gift he has: his music. He plays his drum—"his best"—for the infant Jesus.
In a poignant, quiet miracle, the baby smiles at Aaron’s performance. At that moment, Baba is miraculously healed. The act of giving and receiving simple joy finally shatters the wall of hatred surrounding Aaron’s heart, filling him with profound peace, hope, and the realization that his life, once broken, can be made whole.

Este es mi OC “Starling”. Lo creé en clases y lo dibujé en enero, pero luego de unos cuantos meses lo remastericé ya que había mejorado considerablemente mi estilo ^^
